CHEST LIFTS & DROPS - HOW TO BELLY DANCE FOR BEGINNERS

    We are starting our next series focusing on upper body belly dancing and upper body moves. The first of which being the Chest Lift & Drop. A chest lift and a chest drop consist of using your mid back muscles to push forward and lift the chest. If you have ever done a chest exercise or back exercise at the gym you might be familiar with the muscles between your shoulder blades. These are the same ones that you use to pinch your back together. However, with the chest lift dance move, you don't want to pinch but push the chest. This move takes a lot of upper body control and technique. But if you continue to practice the chest lift and drop you will see your upper body strength increase as well as flexibility. Keep referring back to this video and keep working on your upper body belly dancing!
    How to Bellydance is a channel devoted to everything belly dance!
    Essentially a Free bellydance class, we will have step by step belly dancing Tutorials, How To's, Tips and Techniques. Again basically free belly dance lessons! We will also cover performance makeup, jewelry, costuming, and interview performers. Lastly, we will host live sessions where you will have an opportunity to feel like you can get a real bellydance class experience and ask YOUR questions!

    Belly dance is a great way to stay fit, get fit, and have fun getting fit. It is a calorie burning hobby that tones your hips, arms, and belly while making you feel sexy. It is a great activity to do in the comfort of your own home. No matter what your body type. The bellydance community encourages positive body image for all women big or small. If you find yourself curious about dancing but do not feel comfortable going to a local class, the How to Bellydance channel wants to be an online community for all people interested in bellydance.
    I will be covering styles ranging from cabaret, Egyptian, Turkish, and Lebanese, but mostly I will focus on tribal fusion and fusion bellydance. Tribal Fusion Bellydance is my true passion when it comes to bellydance styles. This Bellydance channel will focus mostly on this bellydancing style.

    I seriously think I won't be able to do this move bc I just realized that I keep pinching my shoulders or I'm moving my shoulders too much to the point that I'm using my arms. I seriously have no control to do this correctly with my back :(

    So, I can do this, but it takes a lot of effort and I can't quite go full speed yet.
    I can't figure out how to make it happen without moving my shoulders at all.
    Hmm.
    How can I work the muscles in the back that need to be engaged to do this?
