Having autism and having ridden this since BEFORE it became Garfield. I CAN'T PASS UP A MOMENT TO RIDE IT NOW. It's dark, it's gentle, it has nice music and great visuals and an easy-to-follow story with fun characters from the past. It's like if Deadwood was a kid's ride. I love it!
Not bad, feels a bit bare bones (no pun intended) between the scenes though. I really miss the outdoor sections like the origional had, it was really unique. Love the references though. But if nothing else, I'll actually ride it unlike Garfields nightmare. (Though for real, the scariest part was when you could hear the PA system talk about hand sanitizer and social distancing.)
This was a nice addition but I'am glad to have also experienced Garfield's Nightmare before this. It's like how I was glad to experience the Log Jammer before being replaced by Steel Curtain.
I'm so glad, that Garfield ride was a nightmare. ;-) I only wish they had kept (restored) the part of the ride in the back where you went outside for a bit, seems like that part is gone.
i went to kennywood and they should add a new scary ride like ghost wood estate or for the old mill they should add jump scares that spray you with water
YAY!!! No more Garfield. It's not the original but a really great throwback to Old Mill. Miss the outdoor scenes and dead canary. Glad to see new owners doing something right!
I have a next suggestion for this ride. Maybe in the future make it the scene of Willy wonka and the chocolate factory when they’re on the boat. Just a thought.
I didn’t ride this new version. I remember the Okd Millll from 1998 and the Garfield from much later. This looks better than the Garfield version. Riding through this on the video, it’s like waiting for something to happen, and nothing really does.
@@SLOTHSRIDEUNICORNS it is one of those rides that probably work better being on the boat in person. This video was well filmed. It doesn’t look bad. It looks better than Garfield and the Old Mill ride that preceded Garfield. It doesn’t need to be Disney to be memorable. I need to ride it in person. My opinion of it looking anticlimactic might change.
I love the signs that look like the intertitles from a silent movie! It’s a bit dark to make everything out, but I’m guessing that it’s easier to see in person than on video. Great job, and I hope to visit as soon as possible.
Considering how much effort was put into making the Steel Curtin, I think this is an insult for hardcore Kennywood fans. Yes, I am glad they finally updated the ride and tried to bring it back, but it feels like they did the bare minimum. The sets themselves are cool, but there are no outdoor sections like the original, nor are there any props between the sets like in Garfield. I can understand that there might be maintenance issues with bringing back the original outdoor scenes (and it might be the reason why they were removed in the first place), but I still think they could have done more with this. Unlike the Steel Curtin, this ride has been in Kennywood for almost a century, and I really think it deserves more.
This feels more like the old gold rusher ride than the old mill the original was more somber I swear they took that train outta the gold rusher but still this is a damn sight better than that abysmal Garfield ride
Really happy to see this going back to its roots. It's a shame though because the "Old" Old Mill (prior to Garfield) was truly excellent, and this, nice as it is, doesn't really compare. They tried to recreate the magic, but came up a little short. Again though, way better than Garfield's Contractually Obligated Dark Ride.
Rode this yesterday for the first time with two of my friends, we all kind of found it a little boring and just kept swaying our little boat back and forth. Nothing terribly wrong with it, it was nice and calming for me and my friends to just sit down for a moment, just feel like it needs more.
You never would have known also that before it was renamed The Old Mill the original title was Hard Headed Harold's Horrendously Humorous Haunted Hideaway. And that it used to have a Pirates of the Caribbean like drop into a body of water which inspired the Log Jammer.
Maybe to see it in person would be better, I feel like I’m walking down a dark hallway. Nothing compares to Garfield’s Nightmare. I guess we have to appease the older generation with this ride
Ok. It's better than Garfield's Nightmare, yes. However. To call this Old Mill is a insult to It's legacy and this completely misses the mark of what made the original Old Mill so iconic. There was scenes all outside on the original. This is just another black light ride. Also, the work put in was extremely lazy. You lowkey insult Kennywood old schoolers by just reminding them and using most props from Le Cachet and Gold Rusher. 2 other high demand rides people want to return. The opening video, the train behind you, and most props. You destroyed those 2 rides for Ghostwood Estates, which is awful. So, you moved ahead 1 step, but then missed the mark.
I'm sure a few have said it . I missed the old mill but now I miss Garfield. Idk why it got hate cause it's for kids maybe? I like that one was themed after a cartoon cause I'm a kid at heart but might just be me and a few others .
I don't know you guys could have tried better you guys need better skeletons and you guys should at least make it scary you need a skeleton drinking a beer where light comes on and it starts laughing
How dumb! We were there for the last year of the Log Jammer. Food was terrible, parking is outrageous, and the “fudge” is not the original ( gross ). The Pittsburgh Fudge company was the original! & nothing of what Pittsburgh has to offer!
Garfield’s Nightmare was not only way better, but infinitely more visually interesting. If you would’ve went more into the western themeing this could’ve been cool.
While I do think the ride could add more things to spice up the visuals, the fact that there's less cardboard cutouts and more physical sets and animatronics (ones that don't make as much noise) alone makes this look better.
Maybe it’s Bc I was born in 08 but this ride sucked. Everyone hyped it up and the lights were on and everything. Ik I’m the only one saying this but I want Garfield back
It's been all over the news and social media for months that they where taking out Garfield and go back to this. I can't wait to go to the park. Hopefully, soon I can go. I have a season pass but I don't want to go alone.

I think it should just stay as the Old Mill. Theres no need for more "themed" rides at Kennywood.

This ride could use a flume drop at the end.
This POV isn’t very good. If you wanna see a better one, check out the one by Scarehouse, the company who remade the attraction
RideAllNight I've learned the best POV a person can get is one where they ride it themselves.
