I remember seeing an interview with Noel Gallagher years ago when he talked about bumping into Damon Albarn in a club and they had a drink and talked about how mad the 90's was and the whole music scene of that era. I think Matt Lucas has got this one wrong to be honest.
You're right man, I saw that interview too, Matt Lucas even hesitates when Liam tells him that it might had been Noel. 1:29
Yeah and Noel was the one with the Groucho membership. Liam nicked his membership card one time, which resulted in the Paul Gasciogne fire extinguisher incident 😂 he was booted from the club after that. Legend!

The Great Escape is a wonderful album.
Even Damon disses The Great Escape. I have come to like it as much as, maybe even more than, Parklife.
@@mbuchart2927 same. It might partly be because Parklife was already out and massive when I got it, but I was there with my cash on release day for The Great Escape; so it feels like mine more haha

I don't think it'd really been discussed much, but like his son Gene, Liam almost certainly has ADHD. He exhibits all of the symptoms very very very clearly...shocked this hasn't been more widely scrutinised, or least made people more sympathetic toward some of his more extreme/impulsive traits. What do you think? Not something that was as frequently diagnosed then, but as soon as I heard his son, Gene, had it (Paul Gallagher actually revealed that about his nephew), but it made me jump to Liam - of course, would explain so much about his behaviour, and why it would make him insufferable sometimes to Noel.
He has speculated he has it

Arr kid is ageing well! Matt Lucas still looks how he did in ‘Country House’ lol!
No he don't!
It sounds much more likely to have been Noel in that club, especially since he has also collaborated musically with Damon. There’s a vid of him on here somewhere, on stage playing with Gorillaz with Damon on vocals. Liam is an intriguing character, but I still can’t help thinking he’s modelled himself on Ian Brown.
Thought this was an interview from the early 2010s, looking great my man
I read this on a news site and thought this was going to be utterly displeasing, but they actually having a great time!
Matt Lucas comes off as smarmy here. And hes wrong!!! Tony McCaorroll said it was Noel that said down with Damon and Lucas and it was ""youre alright, its your brother we dont like""...referring to Liam. Noel and Damon never had issue with each other, most of it was to create a stir in the media which Damon was aware of and part of. Get ya facts right Lucas!
Defo, there’s no way Liam in his mid 90s persona would chill with them pair, he’s never hung out with other celebrities anyway it was definitely Noel who Lucas means .....
Damon and Liam used to drink together a lot actually. Liam used to bump into Alex from blur and them a lot Bonehead said so. Liam was antagonistic but was just having a laugh and liked winding people up. I don’t think Damon liked that dynamic much but they could interact. Noel and Damon had less beef to start with but it turned nasty and Noel doesn’t shrug things off. He thought Damon was a condescending cock and both brothers enjoyed taking their crown (blur were much bigger than oasis before mg/wonderwall, Earl’s Court etc ) oasis got bigger quicker but parklife outsold dm. Anyway once Noel said that comment about aids he and Damon didn’t speak till about 2012 when they both let it go.
There’s a great anecdote from Liam in 95’ where he sees Alex from blur and decides to congratulation him on the country house number 1, he doesn’t like his response and gives him some mouth then asks if he wants a line , Liam then says it was then cool but he still thinks blur are shit. Stephen fry also retells some funny encounters
Yeah it was 100% Noel, Noel has even worked with Albarn since on a Gorillaz album, no way in hell was it Liam back then.
Jordan Cruz Liam and damo played football together and would talk if they bumped into each other for years. Liam would antagonise Damon a lot but Noel said the comment about suds and it got personal with him and Damon. Noel would be at events such as the trainspotting premier in cannes and would avoid Damon then bitch about him afterwards.
What a character Liam Gallagher

0:30 don't know if he was serious or not lol, but it actually is a damn good album. Not as good as its precedessor and it obviously had no chance against Morning Glory, but I really think it needs to be re-evaluated. I love the lyricism and arrangement on it and it truly has several brilliant songs which are among Blur's best. It's sad that some the band members themselves don't hold it in high regard
@@50milliondownthedraintonym16 you mean Yuko and Hiro...that song makes me tear up, not gonna lie. Perfect way to end an album about loneliness and escapism
@@50milliondownthedraintonym16 another highlight of the album. I particularly like this live version ua-cam.com/video/flUnDtO7_gI/v-deo.html
It's honestly a false misconception that Blur weren't able to make emotional, straight-to-the-heart songs, this one is a perfect example. People mostly remember them for their goofier hits like Parklife and Country House, which are still good, but forget that they have also released singles like For Tomorrow, Beetlebum, Tender and the heart-wrenching No Distance Left To Run...also Out Of Time feels painfully relevant today
@@50milliondownthedraintonym16 It's a very English song indeed. Both the song and its video reference many places in London like Primrose Hill, for instance. I'm not British but I find it really endearing, I love the folkloric quality of some of Blur's catalogue. It's not a culture I'm truly familiar with, but for some reason I feel very connected to it. After all, music is a universal language :)
And yeah, Oasis are great as well. I enjoy both bands, even though I personally find Blur more engaging and interesting. Overall so many fantastic artists and bands have come out of the UK, I bet you guys are really proud of that!
Best Days is such gem of that album. I believe Great Escape has got a vinyl re-release 25th anniversary....damn im getting old
'Great Escape' and 'Morning Glory' are equal in quality. Both have a handful of classics, and a lot of old tosh. No album with two "Swamp Song" fillers, the patently hook-free "Hey Now", and a lame re-retread of Glitter's "Hello, Hello, I'm Back Again", is anywhere close to the "greatest ever".

Lol, this anecdote doesn't surprise me at all. Apparently in the 90s the rivalry was real with Noel and Damon, but Liam was always privately much more gracious with the blur boys. I've read similar things like this many times - bonehead even confirmed that the height of the country house/roll with it rivalry they would bump into damon and alex in town and have a beer with them. NOT Noel - he actively hated damon at the time...the others would comfortably break bread with their alleged 'rivals'.
Exactly. Noel said Blur used to book their gigs to make them purposefully coincide with Oasis' ones. And that according to him was the main reason why he ended up losing respect for them.
