This video is more than a recipe; it’s a celebration of the beauty and simplicity found in nature, and the joy of using locally sourced, fresh ingredients.
Disclaimer: Do your own research before you go foraging! Some thing in nature, including some pine trees are poisonous, so don't pick and ingest anything that you are not sure is edible.
    In This Video:
Explore the peaceful forest and the mindful practice of foraging.
Discover the beauty and detail of fresh pine shoots.
Learn about the sustainability and patience that foraging teaches.
See how foraging ties us closer to our drinks, infusing them with authenticity and a story.
    Pine Sazerac Recipe:
Crafted with a pine shrub made from foraged pine shoots, this Pine Sazerac brings the forest’s essence into your glass.
    Ingredients:
45 ml (1.5 oz) Rye Whiskey
    7.5 ml (0.25 oz) Absinthe
7.5 ml (0.25 oz) Pine Shrub (See below)
    2 dashes Peychaud's Bitters
    Instructions:
Add all ingredients to a mixing glass, and stir with plenty of ice. Pour over a large rock intro a lowball glass. Garnish with a fresh pine shoot.
    Pine Shrub:
    Ingredients:
150 g of Fresh Pine Shoots
    1 l of Water
    500 g of Sugar
50 ml of Apple Cider Vinegar
    5 g of Black Peppercorns
    Instructions:
Add water and pine shoots to a pot, and bring to a simmer. After 30 minutes, strain out the pine shoots and add the remaining ingredients and let simmer for an additional 60 minutes. This should evaporate approximately half the water, leaving you sweetness level equal to a 1 to 1 syrup.
    Why Forage?
Foraging isn’t just about gathering ingredients - it’s a way to reconnect with nature, honor the environment, and bring an unmatched authenticity to your cocktails. It’s a sustainable practice that teaches patience and respect for the earth.
    Enjoy the Journey:
Every sip of this Pine Sazerac is a reminder of the calmness of the woods and the sustainable practices that make it possible. It’s not just a drink; it’s a celebration of nature and the simple pleasures of life.
Cheers to the beauty of the forest, the joy of crafting with foraged ingredients, and the satisfaction of sharing a good drink with loved ones.

Thank you so much. And yeah you should definitely collect some pine shoots. They have many use cases other than cocktails. They can also be used for baking for example! But gotta hurry, season is almost over 😁
