- Peter Luger Steak house in Brooklyn, New York is widely thought to have the best steaks in the country- but they also serve a lesser known burger at lunch time that may be just as formidable. On this episode of The Meat Show, host Nick Solares stops by Luger's to check out what goes into their burger; and to eat one, of course.

Those maillard reactions are permeating with unctuous, scrumptious, dry-aged tangy notes with supple hints of platonic, sardonic funkiness of the prototypical, sweetness in the concussive crunch mesosphere.
Another gem from UA-cam's #1 douchwaffle Nick Solares

The taste of the mineral vibrancy permeates to the rafters of the building, wouldn't you say?
mmm yes, quite so *sips wine*
ethereal jargon
"If you went to a steakhouse you wouldnt put cheese on a steak"
*proceeds to eat "steak" between two pieces of bread*
I've had this burger and let me tell you this: the minute idiosyncrasies of this platonic burger is ineffably ethereal..... something something mouth feel
🤣
Memes aside, I love Nick's genuine enthusiasm for what he does. It makes the Meat Show so much more enjoyable to watch than some bland presenter who doesn't seem interested. Good stuff, Eater :)
Adam Almy me too. Really sad how people are so mean to him
Just had my First Peter Lugers experience last week. It was pretty awesome.
But wouldn't you iust eat a steak if you wanted to experience only the meat? a burger has buns so it's an entirely different experience.
First, the price. Second, you might want to eat a hamburguer... like with a bun. Why not?
Alan, he didn't want to add anything to the burger like cheese or sauce. If you think you sully your beef by adding anything, just get a Steak imo.
That's the most perfect burger to bun ratio I've ever seen
I was looking forward to this ! Thank you Eater!
I drove here from Boston today off the strength of this video (reservations made about a month ago) and it was fantastic!!!
Who needs all the basic burger condiments when eating a burger right?
This isn't a normal Burger.
Excellent show. Love these!
That bacon looked really really good, would never toss it to the side :O
Nicely done. Rare like it should be. Bravo, Nick!
"I will gladly repay you Tuesday for a hamburger today."
I have an idea for a show. Let's have a guy eat hamburgers every episode, but here's the catch, he cant pronounce hamburger. Perfect
You're on to us
Just waiting to see how many Gordon Ramsay "Its Raw!" jokes this one gets lol
Looks amazing!
Dude I swear every video with this guy is just him eating another dry aged hamburger with nothing but cheese on it
Cole White NO CHEESE!!!
Nur La grande Hold the Mayonnaise
But is the burger primal enough?
Nick = British Guy Fieri that uses more complicated words.
I honestly really like this guy
I'll have one of those next time I'm at Luger's.
I'm not much for New York. But when I visit America, I'm gonna visit New York just to eat this burger!
Peter Luger's porterhouse is amazing
but how platonic is the burger? I need to know!
Give this 'platonic' tedium a rest!
fat les tedium ?
You're not fooling anyone Nick.
this tedium is platonically lacking. it has a very dry mouth feel. i could see frank sinatra thumbing it down.
Oh, I member!
Hey NICK! come to Vancouver BC, try the Monarch burger at the American, 45 day dry aged local grass fed beef, and they grind pretty much the ENTIRE carcass fresh daily(they take out the rib eye and striploin for steaks)
This is profoundly RAW !
Looks awesome
This burger looks delicious
Best burger i ever had was from place called the engine room in mystic, ct
Looks good, patty is a little thick for my liking though
The burguer is so rare that it's eating the bun.
Lovely..
Love your shirt !!!!!
Sounds like a delicious burger
Sure if i was sitting down in a steak house i wouldn't put cheese ect on it.
But when i want to eat a burger i want everything on it. So thanks i guess, since according to you if i want a burger i shouldn't go there.
"I'm tired of listening to myself talk"- The Meat Show Host
anyone with even a rudimentary understanding of food safety knows why a rare burger with dry aged meat in it is a bad idea
Cld u explain why?
I’m a big fan of rare or medium rare burgers and steaks but Jesus Christ Nick, that burger may still have a pulse.
Thank you for making me for that buh...burg...BURGER MMMMMMMMMHHHMMMM SO GOOD
yup
1:11 it's so good he shits his pants
I like my burgers medium rare...but damm that was straight raw.
You only filmed 4 episodes in London?
"It's fuuuuckeeeen rawwwwwwwwwwww" Gordon Ramsey
Wow. Tasty :0
The burger wasn't cooked it was platonic and profound
All burgers for Nick are prepared by Bill "The Butcher" Cutting. Is there a level of doneness between raw and rare?
I get the feeling there is a motel 6 with no curtains.
But what is beef if not the primal expression of wanton lust? Single minded in its purpose. When we call for beef, what are we really asking for? Is it the caress of a gentle lover? Or the blade of an executioner? THE RAGE OF STEEL ON BONE, would you yourself deny beef? Would beef deny itself of you?
And tell me, do you still remember when it happened? You were so scared, so scared and so beautiful.
Why are the restaurants always empty?
perfect grind, but the perfect toppings on any burger is mustard and slices of raw onion.
I think that you don't even need a bun it gets in the way of the greatness of it
I feel like most find dining steak houses burgers are better than their steaks sometimes
how much?
As Gordon Ramsay would say, "Look at the meat. IT'S STILL FUCKING ALIVE!"
i love ur shirt
All you need is lettuce, tomato, onions, ketchup and mayo to make it better
They don't even toast their bun...
There is no way a the best burger isn't made on a flat top. That is the standard.
how concussive is the concussiveness of the meat forward approach of the burger?
you also wouldn't put your steak between two pieces of bread that probably have some sort of dressing on them so what's your point
How much is that and how much would a meal at Lugers normally go for?
The burger during lunch is about $16 USD.
Eater That's completely reasonable 👍
at least he give you some informations and what dry aged burger looks like. if you don't like him just don't rewatch this and comment. The thumbnail already intrinsically describe what contain will be shown.
Another day, another dry-aged meat episode...
Was part of the burger raw or something at 1:15 it looks like he shaved off some of the burger and now chunks of meat is on the plate?
This guy always pretentiously orders his beef rare just for flex purposes. And yes probably he shaved off some meat simply coz he couldn't handle it but pretends like he could. Rare steaks or burgers are probably fine if its a much leaner piece of beef. But for something fatty like that burger its just not great, coz of the amount of unrendered fat deep in the centre. 🤢
Where's this again?
that was the last presentation of spoiled meat he had left to eat
I absolutely would put cheese and bacon on my steak.
I would totally put cheese and bacon.
im all for medium or med rare, but that wasn't even rare.
yeah i don't like burgers like that
Taking a break from catching Bobby Axelrod
is there a reason why they dont toast the buns
ITS RAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
also that burger is raw as hell lmao
Peter Lugers is amazing I suggest anyone traveling around Williamsburg to go and have your mind blown
jo , the core of that first burger was straight up raw.
What shirt are you wearing?
whats so special? they are platonic, iconic and the burger has beefy flavor.
would you put cheese on your steak? well, would you put your steak between buns?
No Milliard reaction on the bun? Unacceptable.
I gotta have cheese, skip the fries and eat the bacon!
Long strands eh??
Dry aged long strands fire grill = nom nom
i've has this burger before, it's alright
It is my understanding that getting a burger that rare is not as safe as getting a steak rare, as the surface bacteria which get cooked on the steak get mixed into the burger. The internal temp of the burger, thus should be higher than a steak
Maybe not for really fresh meat and dry-aged beef?
That meat is of too high of a quality to be concerned with things like that. This would be very true for supermarket beef.
That Rule Really Only Applies IF The Ground Meat Is Not Freshly Ground, Like The Pre-Packaged Stuff You Would Get In The Supermarket. Then, You Would Be Better Off Cooking That Ground Beef To An Internal Temperature Of At Least 160 To 170 Degrees Fahrenheit.
Because The Ground Meat From The Store Comes From Sources Where You Don't Really Know What Cuts Are Going Inside The Grinder, Nor What Sanitary Conditions Both The Plant, Or The Grinder Are Kept In, You Wouldn't Want To Eat That Ground Beef In Anything Less Than "Well-Done".
Peter Luger's Has Been Around For Over 100 Years, And Keep A Strict Sanitation Policy In Place, Since They Handle Literally Tons Of Raw Meat Products Every Week, And Serve Thousands Of Customers Without Incident. I Would Imagine Peter Luger's Prep Chefs Grind The Beef Fresh Every Day (Or Multiple Times A Day At Least), And It Doesn't Sit Around Too Long, So The Risk Of Contamination Is Quite Low.
Freshly Ground Beef Can Be Cooked To A Lower Internal Temperature, Somewhere Within the 140-150 Degree Fahrenheit Range (Which Should Be A "Medium-Rare" To "Medium" Cooked Product)
"That Rule Really Only Applies IF The Ground Meat Is Not Freshly Ground, Like The Pre-Packaged Stuff You Would Get In The Supermarket."
WRONG.
Think logically about this. Unless they sterilise their grinders after every use (hint: they 100% don't) then bacteria is getting in there. I can already see the whole "rare burger" thing is catching on and it's fucking dangerous.
When you dry age a steak you cut the outside part because of these reasons. I guess they don't include the outside part into the grind
"you wouldnt put cheese on the steak, you wouldnt put bacon on it",
yeah well, you wouldnt put buns on the top and bottom of it either.
why are these videos so short?? :(
I want to see Nick eat a burger consisting of nothing but dry aged spinalis dorsi and fat
How Profound is that Burger?
What is the difference between beef that has gone bad and dry aged beef
sam ly moisture content?
but then theres wet aged beef
Aint a burger without cheese. Nor do I want a burger that tastes like a steak. But I would devour their dry aged cheeseburger.
Raw or not, people have things called preferences lol
God bless the cow!!
I’m glad I haven’t seen serena in a while
how much? $30? Still cash only?
I love a good rare steak, but I can't do rare burgers. The texture of raw meat inside just freaks me out, and makes me sick.
where is the vegetables??!!!!
nick, you're a cool dude and i like your work, but i think you're clinically insane for turning away a plate of bacon that looks that good
I put Ketchup on mine
The real question is who the fuck goes to Peter Luger and order a fucking burger??
While the lunch burger isn't a "secret menu item", most people are unaware of its availability. And at $16, with fries, it's an amazing deal for a dry-aged burger served at one of America's oldest steak houses. Especially when considering NYC prices. Thanks for watching.
