A good friend of mine gave me this same radio. We moved so I have not connected it up yet. He has passed on now, so this radio means a lot to me. I hope to test it soon. After I get my son to help with antenna setup.
I just bought one of these brand new bone stock. It has a terrible ringing or humming at a pitch that is awful on my rx. I've never had a radio humm like this. It gets worse inn bright mode and less in low brightness mode. Volume turned all the way down it still exhibits this and squelch gate all the way closed it still humms or rings. IT sounds exactly like tinnitus in my ears after working around loud engines or tools. Very bummed....i wish i knew how to fix this because the transmit on it is crytal freaking clear on audio gates.
@@Rooster_Radio i bought this radio used, guy didn't know if it worked. On my bearcat 980 it is puting out equal across pretty much all channels . This uniden 78xl, on ch1 it has a 2watt deadkey then when taking goes up to 5 or so, on channel 40 it has a 3 and a half watt dead key, then when i talk goes up 7 or 8 watts. I'm not a cb guy, just a logger that is finding something extra to do with spare time
Possible but we're not putting it in because what happens is you have people run different mics and they either complain that it's too loud and feeding back or not loud enough and they can barely hear it
I’ve always liked these radios . I have several 78 LTW’s ,, I wish they would bring back the green illuminated rings around the knobs

Nice radio. Does as it should. I like those super star mics.
I like seeing a 2 watt dead key and swing all it will.
Thank you. Would be interesting to see how different models and manufacturers ship their radios.
I'm waiting for the AM/FM version to hit the market.
Thanks. I enjoyed the video. I run stock and modded stuff.
That's a damn Roadking fifty 5640 without the name😂
Uniden 78 name has been around way longer than the road King
Do you mod radios as well? Or do you recommend anywhere to have a radio moded? I've been trying to find a place.

I've got a Phillipines stock 76 im trying to get rid of.
How do I do a battery delete on a rd104e mic and add a noise toy in it. Can I use the 8 volt power and a cap?
Thanks! Does it have the cheap channel selector like the stryker?
I have a Uniden 78LTX and a Stryker 447HPC2. The channel selector is better on the Uniden. Better than the President Lincoln V3 too.
Should you have higher power outputs if you go from ch1 then to ch40 or vica versa
Not unless your swr is fluctuating or the radio was tuned on a poorly tuned antenna rather than dummy load

What about a talk back. Is that possible.
