I have a Valiant EcoTech Pro24. Age I reckon 4-6 years maybe. The hot water works fine when I call for it but when I ask for Heat the flame comes on and after about 30-40 seconds it goes out. The boiler continues to whirl but the flame does not ignite again. The water in the pipes become unusually loud about a minute later. I’ve been told by the help desk more than likely it’s going to be the PCB? Any thoughts would be appreciated? Thank you
I'm afraid that I am not a plumber and this video was made for information on how to top up a healthy boiler. I would suggest that you call a gas-safe plumber or heating engineer. Sorry I can't help more.
Hi there my boiler sticker says pro 24 but the front looks more like the pro 28 from what I can see of your other video with an analogue pressure gauge. However the hose has only one tap as in this video. Should the needle be pointing to that one third position even when the boiler is switched off or is it right for it to drop right off? If I top up the pressure should I switch off the boiler first?
Hi, I am not a plumber, so you should consult a qualified gas safe plumber to answer this question and I can't take any responsibility if you follow the advice in the video or comments. However, in my experience, the filling loop sometimes only has one valve (tap). This is just slightly less safe than having two (as there is no safety valve) but opening the one valve performs the same function as opening the two valves if there are two present. As far as the pressure gauge is concerned, it can drop off when the boiler is off. I would emphasise that I am not a plumber and that without seeing the setup, I cannot advise. I would strongly recommend consulting a qualified plumber to ensure that you do not cause damage to your boiler or that there are no additional issues that need to be addressed. Good luck!
I have no filling loop or valve handles so how do i repressurise without those things..? Desperate, please help. Cannot get someone in to help because of covid.
@@harryhunt1735 yes I did. The 'valve' wasn't a valve but a tap in my case, hence my confusion. The tap and filling loop were hidden behind the cooker which is next to the boiler. So strange but I guess its a historic system that desperately needs replacing 😭🙈
@@samanthacorcoran1570 aww thanks for replying, mins is different not sure how to fix it, may need a plumber to take a look at it, it got serviced 6 months ago should should be under warrenty.
Hi, I have the same boiler and just did what you show in your video but nothing is happening and it looks like no water is being topped up; I'm presuming the reason for this is because I don't have the silver flexi lead attached to the end of the pipes like you have. I have the pipe attached to the wall as though it's a spare, but it isn't connected to anything and I don't know how to connect it to the pipes safely. I know from a previous boiler I had that I was only able to top up the pressure when this lead was attached. Any advice would be most appreciated as I'm Deaf so can't phone up and get someone out. Many thanks.
I'm afraid that I am not a plumber, and it sounds as if you may need one. I would suggest that you get a friend to contact a qualified central heating engineer. Sorry I can't help more.

When I tried this it just leaked loads of water from the second tap. Managed to get enough in the boiler to raise the level up to recommended levels. Any thoughts people? Thanks in advance
Hi Peter, I'm afraid that I am not a plumber. I created this video for some tenants a few years ago and it appears to have been helpful so I've left it up on YT. I suggest you call a qualified plumber or heating engineer. Good luck!
A truly lifesaver, thank you so much.
You are very welcome.
Lifesaver! Thanks Will!
Very helpful.....I've done this and now pressure is at 3.3. I've drained some water out but it won't go down. All working OK though. Thanks
Thank you very much my friend! This video saved me! 👏
Thanks Will. Did the job 👍🏻
No problem 👍
Thanks mate. You saved me.
Glad you found it useful.
Mine don’t have the silver pipe
I have this boiler and i don't have valves underneath. Just tubes without valves. Don't know what to do :/
Thank u I've been so confused because my boiler only has one valve not two like most of the tutorials lifesaver
Glad I could help.
Perfect! Thank you very much!
Glad it helped. Happy New Year!
Life saver.
Thanks for this. However I have the flexi pipe but the two pipes are capped. Can I take them off?
Hi. I'm not a plumber so can't answer that question. I strongly suggest that you seek the help of a qualified plumber.
I don't appear to have that gauge on my boiler. Would there be an alternative option?
I’m afraid I can’t help you there. You should probably consult a heating engineer.

It's a pleasure. I made this video for tenants in my flat. But glad that it's been useful to so many others.

Hi, I have the same issue! Have you been able to repressurise the boiler yourself??

I have done this but as soon as close the valve the pressure starts to drop
It sounds as if you may have a leak somewhere in the system. I would advise calling a gas safe plumber. Good luck!
Thanks sir

Sorry to hear that. This won’t fix all boiler issues, I’m afraid. You should contact a qualified plumber.

do you have to switch the boiler off first and turn off the water valve before doing the pressure?
No, you should have the boiler and water switched on. However, if you are in any doubt, you should consult a qualified plumber.
