Yep, widest male vocal range in the world: E1 to D8 (that we know of), and every note with power, absolute pitch and sweetness. Sings in 12 languages, plays 7 instruments, finishing up his master's degree in composition and going for a PhD. His mom is a soprano opera star in Kazakhstan, his dad is a musician and composer, grandparents also sing. Started opera training at age 5 when his family noticed he had perfect pitch. Best of all he is an honorable, humble, respectful person and just a great human being. I saw him in New York in December and it was incandescent. And he did thank every single person on the stage (musicians, backup singers and dancers) and had each of them come forward and do a riff to get recognized. S.O.S was the song that catapulted him to international stardom in 2017 but there's sooo much more over the last three years! He has been developing his lower range and expanding his styles, if you can imagine that. Have fun getting Dimashified!!
There's actually one guy with a wider range: Tim Storms, who has 10 octaves, from ~G/G#-5 - ~G/G#5. AFAIK, he currently holds the world record for widest vocal range. Di is almost certainly second place, though. Ranges like this are incredibly rare.
Oh and that’s at 22 years of age . He’s 26 now and you haven’t seen anything yet 🤯 He plays 7 instruments and sings in I think 12 languages. He’s 6’3”. He was born with perfect pitch and a passion for singing, even in infancy. Since age 5 he has trained for at least 3 hours EVERY day. He sings a little over 8 octaves, but mostly in a 5 or six oxtave range. He sings up to a D-8, not in a jerky moment, but in a natural progression. Welcome among Dears in the world of Dimash :) Dimash is phenomenal musical genius with over 6 octaves voice. He also plays several instruments, composes his own music, he has amazing charisma, stage presence, he is fantastic live performer. He sings songs in more than 10 languages. He has been trained to sing (also clasiccally trained, his mom is opera singer) since age 5 and he won his first piano recital at age 6. This song was the first episode of The Singer competition in China. This competition is unlike The Voice or Got Talent, this is a competition for already famous, well established singers from China and area. You can compete there only if you are invited. Dimash was brought there as an experiment (he was the youngest one, 22 and the only foreigner, he is not Chinese, he is from Kazakhstan), by a producer of this show after winning Slavic Bazaar competition in Vitebsk/Belarus in 2015. He was unknown so they put him at the beginning, the strongest singers performed last. He surprised and shocked everybody and won the episode. He is not the only foreigner on this show. There's many other foreign singers on this show....they are all chinese but NOT ALL from China....they are chinese from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia.....Dimash was the only non chinese here.

His absolutely perfect body comes equipped with auto tuning device, extra lungs, beautiful face, incredible charisma and more than 6 octaves angelic voice. He crush, smash and Dimash every song. He picks a song, execute it, does it in his own Dimash's way and it becomes the most beautiful thing you've ever heard. Each new performance is unexpected and explosive and it is very difficult to recommend something specific. All his performances and concerts are mind-boggling. He is unique. Last October 26th, Dimash was a guest singer at Maestro Igor Krutoy 65th Birthday Concert at New York's Barclays Centre....he sang four songs. He received multiple standing ovations, flowers and gifts from audiences there.
The singer at the end of Dimash's performance who said, "Wwwwowwww!", is Jam Hsiao; he is a very popular singer from Taiwan (this show features established musicians), with a fascinating story. He and Dimash were the stars in the New Year's Eve celebration in Beijing, China, 2019. They put on an excellent performance. Matthew, since we're chatting...Jam Hsiao was a self-described "bad boy"; no, a really bad one, in a talk he gave. Through tears, he said his biggest regret is that his grandmother died before his life turned around through music. The guys sitting around him, at the show, are members of his band, Lion. Another singer on that show is Terry Lin (the thin guy with big glasses), also from Taiwan; he, too, has an intense story and a lovely voice, Dimash calls him Lin-baba, a term of reverence, as a father-figure. Ok, I'll share more. Hua Chenyu is on the show, looking so very young! In 2013 he auditioned for the show (there is a youtube video), as an awkward beginner, who had grown up in isolated privilege. Two of the three judges found his music strange and almost unbearable; the third judge asked him questions, vocalized with him, told him she wanted to write music with him...he went on to win the show, is a huge star in China, and his music is all over youtube . A whole new world! OK, time for chai/coffee.

You are absolutely correct, he has been classically trained since he was 5 years old and has a degree in classical music, as well as another degree in contemporary music (and about to finish his masters in composing). His range of six and change octaves is obviously impressive but personally I always like to emphasise his education. If you keep reacting to him, you will see why. That is talent honed by hours of daily practice for decades and does it show. Most of us don't have his talent even if we do sing but I have always found him to be such a great example of how much vocal education matters (even if we start later, he lucked out with a musical family). What use is talent if you don't use it fully and he so, so does. Usually peeps continue with Sinful Passion and I hope you will too. It is truly fascinating to hear him sing. On day of this concert, people were still attempting to purchase tickets to this concert. This was a professional singing competition. He was the “unknown” competitor. He sang SOS the first night, first performer. The audience politely welcomed him. Episode 2, he required a bodyguard. The rest is history! He’s now 26 and very very well known internationally. I hope you will explore and enjoy the wide variety of his music. He’s an addiction.
Another thing that people might not notice about Dimash until it is pointed out to you: look at his stage presence, his control of an audience ( Opera 2 is a good example), then the emotion he expresses in a song. This plus vocal brilliance makes him the best. Great reaction by the way!

Dimash just turned 26 on May 24th. He is from Kazakhstan and was the first nonChinese asked to participate in Singer in China. He has studied music since he was 5 years old and has masters degrees in Classical as well as Contemporary, Jazz and Pop. He sings in 12 languages and now speaks 4, Khazakh, Russian, Mandarin and English. SOS was his first performance on Singer, you might like to try Sinful Passion, Hello and Adagio from Singer. You have just witnessed the best technically trained singer in the world today. Dimash is incredible. He will steal your heart and soul with every song he sings. This performance was over three years ago and his voice has matured since he sang this song. This is a cover of a french song from the opera-rock Starmania in 1978. The original singer was Daniel Balavoine, a very good singer and a huge star in France at the time, but without the insane vocal gift demonstrated here. His version was already magnificent, but you could hear that singing it was really stretching his physical abilities. Sadly he died in a helicopter crash in 1986, way too early to enjoy this amazing cover of his song. I like to think he would have been an absolute fan.

Welcome to the magic world of Dimash!! Since you mentioned the G#5 so many times, let me help you with the notes a bit (don't worry, he has sung a lot higher in his mix than a G#5, just not in SOS). The arpegios Dimash was doing were actually starting from B2 going up to B4 and then the operatic stacattos were a E5 F#5 combo. So, this was actually an F#5 on this song in his mix and his falsetto (it was the same note in 3 phrases, 2 at the start and 1 at the end), but then of course you heard him breaking into his falsetto on higher notes a number of times. The high note he hit in the middle part is an E6 (a note that operatic sopranos kinda struggle with) and the other note he hit on the final run was a sustained D6 with the downwards run. You also missed a bit his operatic tenor B4 when he started the final arpegio and also he ended up there after the run on his climax. An operatic tenor B4 is a really high note for tenors (it's the climax in classic plays like Nessun Dorma) and Dimash just casually landed on that note. His voice is so extreme that sometimes you don't really realize how high he is singing, as it sounds so natural and easy for him, even when he is in full baritone/tenor mode. If you really want to listen to Dimash going a lot past the G#5 on his mix (I repeat, his mix, NOT falsetto), then I strongly suggest "Sinful Passion". It's usually one of the most requested songs anyways, and for a very good reason. Dimash sustains a mixed Bb5, which is kinda crazy. I don't want to give much info on the song to avoid spoiling it to you. It's kind of breathtaking to watch. Thank you, this was very nice!

Dimash is Kazakh, born on 24.05.94 of a singing father and mother. He has a classical training from Bel Canto but works very hard every day. His mother is an opera star and his father is also a singer and in the music business. I have listened to SOS sung by him more times than I can count in the past 2 years. Dimash can sing all. You can't categorize him. He can sing bass, baritone, tenor, counter tenor, all types of soprano including coloratura soprano.....he can sing multiple genres types, in multiple octaves in a single song. He has sung in 12 languages though he can only speak in 3 of them. He can definitely sing rock songs.

@Grace Lee Like our friend here, I too am new to, Dimash. So many of his fans talk about his Bass capability, but I have yet to hear it. I even searched out, and found, a video that demonstrates his range. However, in that they only showed him barely getting out of the bottom of the Tenor range. Can you suggest a song where he gets into Bass notes?
I am one of Dimash's dears and I've loved him from the minute I first heard him. I listen to him daily. I would love for you to do a reaction with him singing Sinful Passion, and Screaming. He mixes pop and opera that is absolutely stunningly phenomenal. In Sinful Passion he does something with his voice that I've never heard anyone do before, perhaps you'd recognize it. He had his first concert in the US last novemember. SOS is in French, he speaks many languages, his mother was a professional opera singer and he's from Khasitstan. I'm sure I butchered the spelling there. Please do more of Dimash. Oh a side note, he thanks his dears regularly. Every year he sends his teachers flowers. This song was written for a French Rock Opera in 1978-79 for a guy with a 4.5 octave range. Dimash here at age 22 is a 6 octave 2 semi tones and he just turned 26 on May 24, 2020. He started training in classical singing and piano at age 5. He has 2 degrees in music. Perfect pitch, writes music, composes. His mother is a practicing opera singer ( soprano) and his father was a pop singer, composer, writer and is now Dimash's manager. Dimash plays 8 instruments, sings in 12 languages, speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently. Speaks Mandarin conversationally and is pretty good with English, both of which he is still working on. He used to take Taekwondo, not sure that he still does, and he swims regularly to work on breathing techniques. He is still studying music. He went to a school of arts so he has been working on his voice and had tutors for many years not to mention stage presentation. He says he still practices singing at least 3 hours a day. His home country of Kazakhstan wanted to play a full day of his recorded music in 2018 I think it was as a gift to him and what he has done but there were only a few recordings. He does all live music. Now he does recorded music but then, they had nothing and couldn't do the day of his music on the radio. Oh, his first Album went platinum in 7 seconds and triple platinum in 37 seconds.

This performance was 3 years ago when he was 22, he has just turned 26 now has matured and is even better now if you can believe it, he also had a lit to do with his arrangements on this show. Dimash is a phenomenon, he started singing lessons and 5 when it was found he has perfect pitch. He is university educated with degrees in classical opera, another in contemporary music, pop and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical masterclass and is finishing his masters in Composition. His range is over 6 octaves but Dimash is dismissive and says it's not how big your range is but what you do with it. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a decorated national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He sings in 12 different languages, speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is pretty good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin which he says is a very hard language to learn but again he is doing well with it. In this performance he was 22 and in a competition for professional singers in China he was invited as a wildcard and after this one song was catapulted to stardom and is now a pop superstar in China. He is now also famous in Russia mainly for his neo classical work with Igor Krutoy and many of those works are very operatic. His vocals range from a rich bass baritone through to an extremely high soprano and his whistle register has hit a D8 for 5 seconds with vibrato. He is on a solo world tour tight now and in his concerts he sings for 3 to 4 hours with an eclectic mix of styles. He is from a very musical family both parents and his sister sing, mother is a soprano. Dimash was offered a place with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down to follow his own path and he has been very successful thus far, but I suspect world domination will soon come his way. He is a multi instrumentalist too and is very competent with 8 instruments but can play just about anything. He is 26 now, and is mostly known as a live performer, he has released a triple platinum album in China though. It has been recognised that his high notes are not whistle, but head voice, Dimash rarely uses his whistle register but when he does its spectacular like everything else about him. He has billions of fans worldwide and I am definitely one of them, and he calls us his Dears, as we are all as dead to him as his family, and he means it, he knows who helped to make him famous. He is a softly spoken, polite, elegant and very humble respectful young man. He deserves every bit of the success he is having, he has worked very hard for the past 20 plus years and now his dreams as a young 5 year old are coming true. There is an interview he did for BBC World Service in 2018 where the interviewer showed a drawing he did when he was 5 of him singing on a big stage with microphones, speakers and his beloved music cassettes showing his desire to be where he is now. So good to watch reaction videos of first time listeners of Dimash. I get emotional all over again. The SOS from that show is still my favourite rendition that he does and I get weepy every time I hear it. I love how every commenter on here is also loving on him with their praises. I'm surprised that after 3 years since he was seen on the Chinese Competition Show (that's where I first heard him!) and basically went viral after that, there are people that still haven't heard of him. He is truly an international artist, he crosses all the boundaries. He is humble and respectful, love how important his family relationships are too. After you listen to a few more performances by Dimash, you will be convinced that he is the best singer in the world. He was relatively unknown except in his country until this performance. After this performance, he became a star in China overnight. His friend Erlan Bekchurin arranges almost every song that Dimash sings. They are both geniuses in their respective fields. Through UA-cam and Weibo (the Chinese UA-cam), Dimash has now a huge following in the millions. Last Dec he came to NY and filled up the Barclay center. There were people there from 64 countries. It was a night to remember (I was there). Dimash has posted this concert on his channel. Besides being a great singer, he is a great entertainer, funny, talks a lot with the audience (in « Dinglish »), and makes us sing along. You should probably listen next to Sinful Passion or Opera 2. Once again you will be blown away. Most of his songs have English translation, all you have to do is turn on the captions. Happy listening!

Yep, widest male vocal range in the world: E1 to D8 (that we know of), and every note with power, absolute pitch and sweetness. Sings in 12 languages, plays 7 instruments, finishing up his master's degree in composition and going for a PhD. His mom is a soprano opera star in Kazakhstan, his dad is a musician and composer, grandparents also sing. Started opera training at age 5 when his family noticed he had perfect pitch. Best of all he is an honorable, humble, respectful person and just a great human being. I saw him in New York in December and it was incandescent. And he did thank every single person on the stage (musicians, backup singers and dancers) and had each of them come forward and do a riff to get recognized. S.O.S was the song that catapulted him to international stardom in 2017 but there's sooo much more over the last three years! He has been developing his lower range and expanding his styles, if you can imagine that. Have fun getting Dimashified!!

There's actually one guy with a wider range: Tim Storms, who has 10 octaves, from ~G/G#-5 - ~G/G#5. AFAIK, he currently holds the world record for widest vocal range. Di is almost certainly second place, though. Ranges like this are incredibly rare.

He was born with perfect pitch and a passion for singing, even in infancy. Since age 5 he has trained for at least 3 hours EVERY day. He sings a little over 8 octaves, but mostly in a 5 or six oxtave range. He sings up to a D-8, not in a jerky moment, but in a natural progression. He does this in "Unforgettable Day," the Socchi version.Yes, we do appreciate his amazing backing band. He is, by the way, a very humble and kind person.
Welcome among Dears in the world of Dimash :) Dimash is phenomenal musical genius with over 6 octaves voice. He also plays several instruments, composes his own music, he has amazing charisma, stage presence, he is fantastic live performer. He sings songs in more than 10 languages. He has been trained to sing (also clasiccally trained, his mom is opera singer) since age 5 and he won his first piano recital at age 6. This song was the first episode of The Singer competition in China. This competition is unlike The Voice or Got Talent, this is a competition for already famous, well established singers from China and area. You can compete there only if you are invited. Dimash was brought there as an experiment (he was the youngest one, 22 and the only foreigner, he is not Chinese, he is from Kazakhstan), by a producer of this show after winning Slavic Bazaar competition in Vitebsk/Belarus in 2015. He was unknown so they put him at the beginning, the strongest singers performed last. He surprised and shocked everybody and won the episode. After this performance he needed full time security guards :) There is a great adventure ahead of you, you can go chronologically episode after episode to see how he developed (overall he was placed second, there were 13 episodes) or you can check songs suggested by other Dears :) I know everyone wants to hear Sinful Passion, so I will suggest Hello, his cover of Lionel Richie's song (just know that Dimash never makes ordinary covers) that he perfromed as a guest in The Singer 2018. @@MatthewRunaway you have to know that this was just a gentle breeze from the up coming tornado. Dimash is not equal to any other human being. His absolutely perfect body comes equipped with auto tuning device, extra lungs, beautiful face, incredible charisma and more than 6 octaves angelic voice. He crush, smash and Dimash every song. He picks a song, execute it, does it in his own Dimash's way and it becomes the most beautiful thing you've ever heard. Each new performance is unexpected and explosive and it is very difficult to recommend something specific. All his performances and concerts are mind-boggling. He is unique. I can't get enough of him. You still have tons of Dimash music to listen to. His technique and vocal acrobatics kill us all the time. When you think Dimash knocked you out, that's when he just starts bombing you with his new vocal weapons. You have to know that his arsenal is quite large. You can never be prepared for what comes next. His ability to mixes pop, rock, opera, rap, hip hop and r&b music, in his own unique way makes him a favorite singer to fans of any style of music. Last October 26th, Dimash was a guest singer at Maestro Igor Krutoy 65th Birthday Concert at New York's Barclays Centre....he sang four songs. He received multiple standing ovations, flowers and gifts from audiences there.

He and Dimash were the stars in the New Year's Eve celebration in Beijing, China, 2019. They put on an excellent performance. Matthew, since we're chatting...Jam Hsiao was a self-described "bad boy"; no, a really bad one, in a talk he gave. Through tears, he said his biggest regret is that his grandmother died before his life turned around through music. The guys sitting around him, at the show, are members of his band, Lion. Another singer on that show is Terry Lin (the thin guy with big glasses), also from Taiwan; he, too, has an intense story and a lovely voice, Dimash calls him Lin-baba, a term of reverence, as a father-figure. Ok, I'll share more. Hua Chenyu is on the show, looking so very young! In 2013 he auditioned for the show (there is a youtube video), as an awkward beginner, who had grown up in isolated privilege. Two of the three judges found his music strange and almost unbearable; the third judge asked him questions, vocalized with him, told him she wanted to write music with him...he went on to win the show, is a huge star in China, and his music is all over youtube . A whole new world! OK, time for chai/coffee.

You are absolutely correct, he has been classically trained since he was 5 years old and has a degree in classical music, as well as another degree in contemporary music (and about to finish his masters in composing). His range of six and change octaves is obviously impressive but personally I always like to emphasise his education. If you keep reacting to him, you will see why. That is talent honed by hours of daily practice for decades and does it show. Most of us don't have his talent even if we do sing but I have always found him to be such a great example of how much vocal education matters (even if we start later, he lucked out with a musical family). What use is talent if you don't use it fully and he so, so does.
Usually peeps continue with Sinful Passion and I hope you will too. It is truly fascinating to hear him sing. Thank you for a great reaction!

Dimash sold out New York's Barclays Centre last December 10th with his ARNAU ENVOY CONCERT. US fans from 42 states attended this concert. On day of this concert, people were still attempting to purchase tickets to this concert. Upon his arrival at JFK Airport for this concert he was greeted by fans, flowers and gifts....UA-cam videos available.

This was a professional singing competition. He was the “unknown” competitor. He sang SOS the first night, first performer. The audience politely welcomed him. Episode 2, he required a bodyguard. The rest is history! He’s now 26 and very very well known internationally. I hope you will explore and enjoy the wide variety of his music. He’s an addiction.
Another thing that people might not notice about Dimash until it is pointed out to you: look at his stage presence, his control of an audience ( Opera 2 is a good example), then the emotion he expresses in a song. This plus vocal brilliance makes him the best. Great reaction by the way!

Dimash just turned 26 on May 24th. He is from Kazakhstan and was the first nonChinese asked to participate in Singer in China.
He has studied music since he was 5 years old and has masters degrees in Classical as well as Contemporary, Jazz and Pop.
He sings in 12 languages and now speaks 4, Khazakh, Russian, Mandarin and English.

you are right, the musicians are phenomenal! all the singers, judges and audience (who also judge) are professionals, or in the field. Dimash was the youngest contestant, and wildcard and first to perform. They'd never heard him before this. After this, well lets say next morning he had no idea how his life would be changed. He was 22 here, 2017, and is from Kazakhstan, 6-octave range.

You have just witnessed the best technically trained singer in the world today. Dimash is incredible. He will steal your heart and soul with every song he sings. This performance was over three years ago and his voice has matured since he sang this song. He's 25 or maybe 26.Mother opera singer, father classical musician. Begin to sing at 5. 20 years of training. He speaks in Kazakhstan, his first language and Russian. He is currently learning English. He learned that French song phonetically. You could see him at the Voice Usa for blind auditions. The facial expressions of the judges are something else.

Dimash has just turned 26 years old. Dimash is from Kasachstan and sings since the age of 5. He has a degree in both, classical and pop singing. When he performed in " I am Singer" he was only 22 years old.... and believe it or not has developed his singing skills a lot since then. This is a cover of a french song from the opera-rock Starmania in 1978. The original singer was Daniel Balavoine, a very good singer and a huge star in France at the time, but without the insane vocal gift demonstrated here. His version was already magnificent, but you could hear that singing it was really stretching his physical abilities. Sadly he died in a helicopter crash in 1986, way too early to enjoy this amazing cover of his song. I like to think he would have been an absolute fan.

Welcome to the magic world of Dimash!! Since you mentioned the G#5 so many times, let me help you with the notes a bit (don't worry, he has sung a lot higher in his mix than a G#5, just not in SOS).
The arpegios Dimash was doing were actually starting from B2 going up to B4 and then the operatic stacattos were a E5 F#5 combo. So, this was actually an F#5 on this song in his mix and his falsetto (it was the same note in 3 phrases, 2 at the start and 1 at the end), but then of course you heard him breaking into his falsetto on higher notes a number of times. The high note he hit in the middle part is an E6 (a note that operatic sopranos kinda struggle with) and the other note he hit on the final run was a sustained D6 with the downwards run. You also missed a bit his operatic tenor B4 when he started the final arpegio and also he ended up there after the run on his climax. An operatic tenor B4 is a really high note for tenors (it's the climax in classic plays like Nessun Dorma) and Dimash just casually landed on that note. His voice is so extreme that sometimes you don't really realize how high he is singing, as it sounds so natural and easy for him, even when he is in full baritone/tenor mode.
If you really want to listen to Dimash going a lot past the G#5 on his mix (I repeat, his mix, NOT falsetto), then I strongly suggest "Sinful Passion". It's usually one of the most requested songs anyways, and for a very good reason. Dimash sustains a mixed Bb5, which is kinda crazy. I don't want to give much info on the song to avoid spoiling it to you. It's kind of breathtaking to watch.

Dimash is Kazakh, born on 24.05.94 of a singing father and mother. He has a classical training from Bel Canto but works very hard every day. He sings in 12 languages and speaks 6, he is learning Chinese. He is multi instrumentalist (piano, guitar, dombra, drums ...). He is a songwriter and has already written poetry. He sings all styles of music: pop, rock, opera, rap ... Professionally, he is very independent and never does something he doesn't like. He is champion of taekwendo and apnea (he trains his breath in the pool). Its register goes from A2 to D8 in the same song. He has one of the most active club fans, he calls his fans the Dears. As if that were not enough, he is quite a handsome kid and a model in his spare time. His mother is an opera star and his father is also a singer and in the music business. I have listened to SOS sung by him more times than I can count in the past 2 years. SOS is from Starmania and the song was written for Daniel Balanoive. I am sure he would be impressed with Dimash if he were still alive. Dimash can sing all. You can't categorize him. He can sing bass, baritone, tenor, counter tenor, all types of soprano including coloratura soprano.....he can sing multiple genres types, in multiple octaves in a single song. He has sung in 12 languages though he can only speak in 3 of them. He can definitely sing rock songs.

Like our friend here, I too am new to, Dimash. So many of his fans talk about his Bass capability, but I have yet to hear it. I even searched out, and found, a video that demonstrates his range. However, in that they only showed him barely getting out of the bottom of the Tenor range. Can you suggest a song where he gets into Bass notes?

I am one of Dimash's dears and I've loved him from the minute I first heard him. I listen to him daily. I would love for you to do a reaction with him singing Sinful Passion, and Screaming. He mixes pop and opera that is absolutely stunningly phenomenal. In Sinful Passion he does something with his voice that I've never heard anyone do before, perhaps you'd recognize it. He had his first concert in the US last novemember. SOS is in French, he speaks many languages, his mother was a professional opera singer and he's from Khasitstan. I'm sure I butchered the spelling there. Please do more of Dimash. Oh a side note, he thanks his dears regularly. Every year he sends his teachers flowers. He got out of his seat to let an elderly lady sit. He really is too good to be true.

Dimash is very down to earth, humble, approachable, especially kind and respectful to the elderly and children.....despite selling out 40+K concert....he sold out Brooklyn's Barclays Centre last December 10th. US fans from no less than 43 states....fans from more than 64 nations attended that concert.

This song was written for a French Rock Opera in 1978-79 for a guy with a 4.5 octave range. Dimash here at age 22 is a 6 octave 2 semi tones and he just turned 26 on May 24, 2020. He started training in classical singing and piano at age 5. He has 2 degrees in music. Perfect pitch, writes music, composes. His mother is a practicing opera singer ( soprano) and his father was a pop singer, composer, writer and is now Dimash's manager. Dimash plays 8 instruments, sings in 12 languages, speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently. Speaks Mandarin conversationally and is pretty good with English, both of which he is still working on. He used to take Taekwondo, not sure that he still does, and he swims regularly to work on breathing techniques. He is still studying music. He went to a school of arts so he has been working on his voice and had tutors for many years not to mention stage presentation. He says he still practices singing at least 3 hours a day. His home country of Kazakhstan wanted to play a full day of his recorded music in 2018 I think it was as a gift to him and what he has done but there were only a few recordings. He does all live music. Now he does recorded music but then, they had nothing and couldn't do the day of his music on the radio. Oh, his first Album went platinum in 7 seconds and triple platinum in 37 seconds.

This performance was 3 years ago when he was 22, he has just turned 26 now has matured and is even better now if you can believe it, he also had a lit to do with his arrangements on this show.
Dimash is a phenomenon, he started singing lessons and 5 when it was found he has perfect pitch. He is university educated with degrees in classical opera, another in contemporary music, pop and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical masterclass and is finishing his masters in Composition. His range is over 6 octaves but Dimash is dismissive and says it's not how big your range is but what you do with it. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a decorated national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He sings in 12 different languages, speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is pretty good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin which he says is a very hard language to learn but again he is doing well with it.
In this performance he was 22 and in a competition for professional singers in China he was invited as a wildcard and after this one song was catapulted to stardom and is now a pop superstar in China. He is now also famous in Russia mainly for his neo classical work with Igor Krutoy and many of those works are very operatic. His vocals range from a rich bass baritone through to an extremely high soprano and his whistle register has hit a D8 for 5 seconds with vibrato. He is on a solo world tour tight now and in his concerts he sings for 3 to 4 hours with an eclectic mix of styles. He is from a very musical family both parents and his sister sing, mother is a soprano. Dimash was offered a place with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down to follow his own path and he has been very successful thus far, but I suspect world domination will soon come his way. He is a multi instrumentalist too and is very competent with 8 instruments but can play just about anything. He is 26 now, and is mostly known as a live performer, he has released a triple platinum album in China though. It has been recognised that his high notes are not whistle, but head voice, Dimash rarely uses his whistle register but when he does its spectacular like everything else about him. He has billions of fans worldwide and I am definitely one of them, and he calls us his Dears, as we are all as dead to him as his family, and he means it, he knows who helped to make him famous. He is a softly spoken, polite, elegant and very humble respectful young man. He deserves every bit of the success he is having, he has worked very hard for the past 20 plus years and now his dreams as a young 5 year old are coming true. There is an interview he did for BBC World Service in 2018 where the interviewer showed a drawing he did when he was 5 of him singing on a big stage with microphones, speakers and his beloved music cassettes showing his desire to be where he is now. He has just had to interrupt a sell.out World tour but he will back next years. So good to watch reaction videos of first time listeners of Dimash. I get emotional all over again. The SOS from that show is still my favourite rendition that he does and I get weepy every time I hear it. I love how every commenter on here is also loving on him with their praises. I'm surprised that after 3 years since he was seen on the Chinese Competition Show (that's where I first heard him!) and basically went viral after that, there are people that still haven't heard of him. He is truly an international artist, he crosses all the boundaries. He is humble and respectful, love how important his family relationships are too.
I just pray that he stays who he is and is not corrupted by those "ugly parasites" in the music business. Don't sell your soul to them Dimash!

The French song was written by Michel Berger, lyrics by Luc Plamondon for the rock opera Starmania. First sung by Daniel Balavoine 1978 and sung by Johnny Rockfort in the music rock opera Starmania. Difficult to sing for most as the chorus traverses 2.5 octaves. I think Dimash did justice to the song. Cheers from Australia

After you listen to a few more performances by Dimash, you will be convinced that he is the best singer in the world. He was relatively unknown except in his country until this performance. After this performance, he became a star in China overnight.
His friend Erlan Bekchurin arranges almost every song that Dimash sings. They are both geniuses in their respective fields.
Through UA-cam and Weibo (the Chinese UA-cam), Dimash has now a huge following in the millions.
Last Dec he came to NY and filled up the Barclay center. There were people there from 64 countries. It was a night to remember (I was there). Dimash has posted this concert on his channel. Besides being a great singer, he is a great entertainer, funny, talks a lot with the audience (in « Dinglish »), and makes us sing along.
You should probably listen next to Sinful Passion or Opera 2. Once again you will be blown away.
