Thanks Pam! I love your updates. If Etsy get lots of people favouriting listings, the customer then gets notifications about discount on those listings, so it might be a way of driving sales.
The whole new labeling thing infuriates me , I create and make absolutely everything in my workshop so from design to creating the actual items is all done here but etsy has already mislabeled multiple of my listings as designed by instead of made 🙄
@handmadehighland I understand completely what you're going through. This is all completely frustrating! Just be happy that their bots haven't unjustly flagged anything as violating a policy, deleted any of your listings or closed your shop. They did that to me recently .. and it happened rather fast. And there's no Human to talk to and you have to appeal and jump through all types of hurdles. :(
Thanks Pam. I'm in a dilemma with my cards. I print them myself from my own artwork and have some that are actually printed and photographed but also say in the front, your message here. Printed exactly as whatever the message would appear. I really don't want to have to reprint and waste the card and ink. 🙄 And I'm totally loving your little song!! 😆
I think even if your product photo is of an actual made item with “custom text here” on it, and Etsy decides that’s ok with the new rules, it’s worth remaking and replacing the pic… because that would take waaaaaaay less time and energy than trying to convince Etsy to reinstate a listing that it takes down in error coz it’s photo recognition bot found a problem with it
My coffee scoops and bottle openers don't even have a "your name here" text photo, still got the email because I offer CUSTOMIZED, lol. But I reached out and they were not helpful - they just said everyone is getting them, which isn't true. Etsy also has mine still listed as designed by me, instead of made by me (yes I have made sure the listings use the correct listing drop downs saying altered by me) where they should be. I guess they will figure it out eventually, just hope they don't decide to pull my listings in the mess. Thanks for all the updates as always!
@paigedamian how do you check to see how each listing is categorized? My shop was recently shut by Etsy due to their bot and before it was shut down, I had 2 listings deactivated (although I've been open and selling these items for 6 yrs and they don't violate any policies). I noticed this started happening right after Josh's announcement to sellers but I never saw anywhere in my listings where you can view or change how they show up.
I received the e-mail & didn't think I had violations. I started looking at my mockups & found rayban sunglasses, converse, jeans & shoes with their logo/brand showing. I even found brand names on vintage record players. I thought I paid attention, but apparently I had missed a few. Just wanted to share & suggest people using POD mockups take a look at their listing photos.
TY Pam. I'm rather beside myself with Etsy errantly labelling all of my 100% handmade (by me) jewelry as Designed By. It's scary that buyers will be able to filter to Made By and my shop will disappear. YIKES!!
I'm annoyed at them as well. Ever since they announced those categories 2 weeks back, items that I'm allowed to sell, have been selling for years, and are NOT violating any policies, are being flagged by their BOT as a violation... Yet my competitors have the same items (I sell herbs that I grow and personally source) that are still being sold (because none of us are violating anything) and after 3 of my listens were removed as "policy violations", my shop was then deactivated on the 30th/31st, and my little bit of funds that were supposed to be deposited into my acct that Monday are being held hostage. You can reach a HUMAN yet they want to be "more human". I have to fill out a questionnaire where half of the questions don't apply to me and then WAIT for someone to get back to me. Mind you, this started a month ago and after the first listing removal that I knew was done unjustly, I've been trying to reach a HUMAN and it's been 5 weeks and nothing. The chat is a bot, and when you jump through the hurdles to actually reach a "person", they behave like bots anyway and are leaa then useful. 😡 In addition: after my 2nd violation and Jeff's announcement about the "made by", "designed by", etc. i tried looking at my mt listings to see how I'm categorized and to make sure it's correct (since I've been on Etsy dor nearly 7 years and my listings have never been an issue until lately) and nowhere can you find a way to check that or edit/change it if it's incorrect. It may be time for another Etsy Seller Strike!
Hi Pam, I didn’t get the “we’re reaching out …” email from Etsy but I did get the “enter to win by hearting” email and my email mentioned a $1,000 sweepstakes not $100 (I’m a seller located in the US). Maybe they upped the stakes ‘cause no one was “hearting”?! 🤷🏻♀️. Anyway, I ❤ your new theme song and now I need to go play with Udio 🎸
I sell digital files (mostly IG templates and other printables) none of which are personalized with the client's name. I received that email from Etsy, but to be honest, I just disregarded it because all my listings follow the rules. I feel like Etsy sent this email to a random group of sellers 🤷♀️
Etsy advertises that they are hand made so they are just covering their ass because people will purchase something and then say hey Etsy you said your stuff is hand made and it’s not.
Etsy hid the "favorites" at the very bottom of the page for like a decade now...

Many times as I viewed and hearted that item ended up being in my cart. No I didn’t put it there and I don’t appreciate Etsy doing that
