    I've had acceptable results with a common lawn roller at or after anthesis. Just rolled my cereal rye yesterday and am ready to plant squash within.
    And no roundup.

    Thank you for creating this informative-yet-concise video! I liked that you showed 3 different methods of crimping (ranging from cheap to expensive), and appreciated that you explained the differences between when you'd crimp depending on whether you're farming organically vs conventionally.

    Round up kills the soil you are trying to feed and protect with the cover crop.
    Unfortunatly people learn at different rates with different information.

      @@Bankable2790 Don't like hearing the truth? The link between glyphosphate and leukemia has been well proven. Monsanto lost a $250M lawsuit a few months before they sold themselves to German owned Bayer for penny's on the dollar.

      @@Bankable2790 That's a fun but unsupported theory. Monsanto devalued themselves over 90% in their sale to Bayer so apparently they were concerned with the evidence as well.

    Why in the hell would you ( a person who wants to help the soil) go through all the cover croping methods and then use toxic chemicals like roundup. Please do some research on that chemical and its global effects on health. Most farmers dont even look at the effects of chemicals. Hopefully you will.

      Roundup, highly degradable, one of the safest herbicides. Proven safe, statistically, by comparing cancer rates of farmers and applicators who use large volumes of Roundup, compared to the unexposed civilian population. Rapidly breaks down in the environment. Only problem arises from uninformed populace, bleeding heart sympathetic jurors not willing to believe that people do just die, scam lawyers, and E.U. bureaucrats that are unwilling to take a stand, so equivocate, making questionably written decisions, giving the above mentioned U.S. scam lawyers something to run with.

    If it doesn't kill on 1st pass then go for a 2nd pass a few days later when it appears that it's not dying.

    Why not use a rotary brush hog or flail mower to generate a finer mulch?

    • @lareemcra347
      @lareemcra347 3 роки тому

      You beat me to it. The only negative I see is that the mulch will not be spread evenly. If you are doing a garden plot you just use a hand rake. Seeding your next cover crop through the mulch might be hard unless you disc it first.

    • @priestesslucy
      @priestesslucy Рік тому

      Finer mulch is more susceptible to wind and won't let water down through it as easily.

    What i would like to see is how that no till space is replanted. Is it replanted by using machinery or by hand? Thanks

    • @mascatrails661
      @mascatrails661 5 років тому

      Either can be done. There is a wide range of tools to do this at different scales, but generally its called a Seed Drill, or more specifically, a no-till seed drill. The dirlls are set up to use one disk to open the soil, then drop the seeds evenly, then a roller closes it back up. There are small scale ones that fit on the back of a walk-behind tractor like the one he uses in the video and there are large ones that go on big tractors.

      you do steam strips not the whole thing cross pattern

    • @MistressOP
      @MistressOP 4 роки тому

      also you can paper it or cardboard it then put more mulch on top of the green after you steam. i thin that's the best route even if you don't steam it. just paper or cardboard then do a dry mulch like woodchips or something like that for the season. best thing to do this once every 3 years to reset a garden.

      The difference between 'Organic' and 'Regenerative' I guess. These people are academics so unless they have seen a peer-reviewed paper then it still could all be true. I hear the title 'Agronomist' and I know I'm talking to a BS fountain.
