    • @nedwardblack
      @nedwardblack 4 місяці тому

      yes and no.... the function of the skin is actually to keep things OUT. If we were meant to absorb everything that our skin gets in contact with, we could get drunk just by putting our hand a bowl of vodka. Or if we swam in a body of water, we would swell up. There are certain chemicals that can be absorbed by the skin but those chemicals are most definitely not in any modern personal care formulas due to regulation and safety measures. There are also certain medications that can be administered trans-dermal. Some skincare products utilize penetration enhancers to deliver ingredients deeper in the skin but again, OTC personal products can only travel so far into the skin without needing to be labeled as a drug. If something can be absorbed trans-dermal and it changes or alters the function of an organ, it HAS to be labeled as a drug. Some micro traces of ingredients (and im taking MICRO micro micro micro) can be found in the blood but our bodies use our liver and kidneys to process any of that out of our blood through waste removal. So no harm can actually occur. The Johnson&Johnson case is mostly anecdotal. Companies like this spend a ton of money on research and development and part of that team is a team of toxicologists. Their job is to make sure the products can cause harm to the human body. It makes no sense for a company to make products that make you sick. They want to make a product that you wanna buy over and over again.

  • @GreenTea3699

    In Europe there are close to 10,000 or more chemicals and additives banned for use in personal care products. In America, only 11.

      Soap maker/ skincare maker (Sweet Organics) and you are right. Beef tallow is THE only thing besides sunscreen (and in some cases a good retinol) that I have seen not only delays the signs of ageing but makes skin heather. However, people in general are grossed out by it, the name, though 90% of soaps have beef tallow in.
      We have to practically do backflips when formulating with plant oils as they just do not compare or have the same results as beef. Jojoba oil is close.
      Sadly, people don’t want natural (and sigh I’m sticking to natural as there is a small market and I’ll continue) but people want augmented, highly fragranced, bright colours, with lots of foam, almost industrial but make skin bouncy. Also due to lack of experience with many oils, allot of people go for buzz words or a high price point. It’s like a loosing battle.
      Large companies brainwash most into thinking what they sell is superior… eg; fast food chains.

    I always had itchy acne prone skin which everyone insisted was due to either not washing enough or living in a dry climate. One day I tried a new activated charcoal soap and the itching intensified but I ignored it. Then my lymph nodes were super swollen. Didn't shower for a week and they went away. Attributed it to that particular soap and stopped using it. Picked up a different charcoal soap and it made my face swell. Fast forward to now where I use small batch handmade soap and sparingly use a shampoo bar once a week. My hairline is regrowing, hair went from straight but frizzy and wild to a soft curl, skin has cleared up and stopped itching. Since I'm not used to the chemicals anymore, when I do use a normal product I usually get some sort of allergic reaction within a day.

    Specific skincare products should only be used when you have a skin condition that needs them!
    I had severe acne, inflammation, dryness, and many other skin issues when I turned 14 and nothing helped, really nothing!
    I tried using water only to cleanse, then switched to organic skin care products, and then went to the dermatologist, who prescribed me gels-nothing worked; in fact, it only made it worse.
    First time I found products that actually work and make my skin more balanced (because obviously my skin isn't by nature) was 6 years ago, when I started using K-Beauty products.
    My skin has never looked, felt, or been better! I still get some acne, though, even more so around the time of my period, but other than that, I am super happy with the products!
    So yes, normal skin, without any major issues skin-wise, doesn't need a 7-step skincarte routine and therefore you don't need to waste all your money and time on these products!
    But these products can be a lifesaver for people like me, that always suffered with skincare issues and got bullied and/or outcast because of that!

    • @trace567
      @trace567 Місяць тому

      I've recently been treating my hormone adult acne with a mixture of alcohol free witch hazel, distilled water and tea tree oil plus lavender essential oil. Ive played with the quanities of each over time. It's important to shake it every time as the oils accumulate at the top. It's fixing my acne very well and once you have all the stuff it's very cheap. Much cheaper than the majority of acne products. You can adapt the essential oils to your own skins issues. I started doing it because I like essential oils and quite honestly remember my teen years of putting harsh acne products on my skin and my skin developing a very strange texture. Plus the cost of acne products is insane. Many years ago I trained as a beauty therapist in the uk, I recall one lecture from a person who worked in the cosmetic industry telling us to never ever use chapstick or similar for dry lips, she said they actually make these products to give you the problem you are trying to resolve, in that instance it was something added to a lip moisture product to dry your lips out so you would basically use more of it. The same was at least then, and I don't doubt now too the same for practically any product. Take anti aging products, the result is only guaranteed for the continuous use of the product. If you stopped, you would start to suddenly notice how bad your skin looks so return back to it believing it's the answer, only it's not much short of a lie. Once a wrinkle has formed, it's not something you can just remove, you can apply something that fills the line and plumps the skin to give the illusion of it being better or exfloate the skin so the wrinkle appears less deep. Anyway the industry unfortunately is not really out to help anyone, only to make money by making you believe their product is the answer.

    This is extremely hyperbolic. It's very rare to get any kinda horrific health issue from simply using skincare. For ex men's lowered fertility is linked more to estrogens in water supplies, pollution, and honestly just bad diet. Female cancers are mostly caused by viruses and worsened by the body's own estrogens. The number one cause of obesity is bad diet. Any other causes are statistically insignificant.
    A majority of westerners are overweight and eat way too much junk food, which is far more likely the biggest cause of majority of the health issues you list here, including hormone disruptions, and as for skin related issues... most often these happen when products are either used incorrectly (ie you didn't follow the plain and simple instructions written in bold letters on the bottle) or the user of the product has an allergy. I've read up on a lot of these horror stories and 99% of the time it's because of improper usage or allergy. That has nothing to do with the safety level of the product. Creams may cure acne, but it will not cure people's stupidity.
    On rare occasion it's because the victim got a contaminated product sample, which yes is the fault of the brand and/or the seller. But literally zero of the hundreds of cases I've read about were caused by non-contaminated products used properly when there was no allergy.
    Obviously newborn babies are gonna be a lot more sensitive than adults, they can literally die from consuming honey and plain water. A lot of the scary test results from these chemicals come from having applied 10 or even 100 times the dose compared to what's in actual products, and also only applied to mice, which although helpful for research purposes, is not the exact same as when applied to humans. We are not giant mice. And literally everything will be dangerous in too high quantities.
    Products that cause micro tears in the skin? Sounds like what an exfoliator is literally supposed to do! Our skin gets micro tears from literally just scratching an itch, or heck, pulling a sweater over your face. It's fine, it'll be healed up again and replaced by new cells by tomorrow. Do you know how extremely thin and fragile the first layer of skin cells is? Of course it's gonna have some abrasions. You get that from living. But since you're phrasing it that way, of course it's gonna sound more dramatic. But if you apply this same logic to anything, literally everything will sound super dangerous.
    Of course though, we should be careful with what we put on our skin. Avoid things that cause irritation or making you feel ill in any kinda way. Do some research. But acting like soap and moisturizers and sunscreen are the things slowly killing us, when layers of dirt, cracked dry skin that is vulnerable to bacteria, and UV radiation, is 1000 more harmful than parabens and phtalates... is kinda silly.
    This is where we need to have some perspective. Would you rather take the 0,00001% risk of getting cancer from your sun screen, or the 20% risk of getting cancer from the sun? Numbers are pulled out of my ass, but that's not the point. The point is this entire video is so cherry picked that it's essentially an orchard. No one needs to be this concerned about a bottle of soap.

    This video contains horrible misinformation. Being skeptical is one thing, but repeatedly attributing illnesses to questionable data is another. Sure, there are credible studies that support some of these claims, but the real issue arises when dosage is considered. As Paracelsus said, "Sola dosis facit venenum" - the dose makes the poison.
    When considering that trichlorocarbon is found in pharmaceuticals, food, and cosmetics, the amount present is crucial. Most toxicology studies referenced in these contexts increase the dose until an effect is observed, such as symptoms or death. This approach doesn’t reflect real-world scenarios-just as you wouldn’t drink 7 liters of water in 30 minutes or consume 100 grams of salt in one sitting, nor would you stand in a room filled with chlorine until your lungs dissolve. These studies push the dose to extremes to identify effects, but that doesn’t mean these effects are relevant to normal exposure levels.
    It's similar when discussing how carcinogenic something is. Bacon or red meat may be classified as Group 2A carcinogens (possibly carcinogenic to humans), but that doesn't mean you’ll ever consume enough for cancer to develop (if it's even possible). We should focus on what is scientifically certain: asbestos is harmful, inhaling chlorine is dangerous, and fluoride improves dental health in people with modern diets (though dosage is still an important factor in that discussion).
    I understand that a lot of this content is created for clicks and views, but that doesn’t justify presenting it as absolute truth. Yes, pharmaceutical companies may exploit people and, to some extent, engineer the illnesses they claim to cure. Yes, large corporations, especially in poorer countries, often ignore safety regulations, causing harm to themselves and others. In our late-stage capitalist society, there is certainly a degree of wrongdoing (ahem, the top 1% own 34% of the world market... ahem). However, we shouldn’t just sow fear without reason; we should promote understanding and knowledge so that others can come to their own conclusions, rather than blindly trusting influencers on their phones.
    Sorry for the rant, but I hope anyone reading this will seek out actual research papers and read them themselves (Sci-Hub offers them for free-just enter the DOI or title into the search bar). For good science content on UA-cam, I recommend Lab Muffin Beauty Science (she uses papers, cross-references, and practices great scientific rigor) for cosmetics and Ann Reardon for food science (though some things may be oversimplified, it's better than nothing).
    I wish you all a great day and a life of learning. Toodles.

Also eating clean and healthy and taking chlorophyll drops act like a natural deodorant and you just end up having a natural scent, and can literally go without deodorant because chlorophyll deodorizes you from the inside. But you also have to eat clean and healthy. I have been told by quite a few people, they love my natural scent. but i also have times i smell funny too- for example not eating enough, causes your body to break down protein which releases an ammonia like smell. Petrolatum is a pretty fine product. It's very good for your skin and you can even eat it. It's not the same thing as motor oil. If you don't refine petroleum and put it in skin and healthcare products, of course it's going to be poisonous. Where is people's common sense anymore?

    In India we have reetha which can be soaked in water overnight and use that water to wash ur hair it doesn't cause foam like the shampoo available in the market but it cleanses ur hair just how ur shampoo does.
    Plus it's natural and come from tree so it's safe.
    I would advise ppl to use hand gloves while applying that reetha soaked water on ur hair cause it also makes ur hair blacl and when applied with bare hands can make ur nails appear black.

    I am in the uk. I am female. For 40yrs i used a cleanser called Anne French deep cleansing milk. Later on many years later they labelled one of the ingredients as formaldehyde. I shudder now to think i used that product unknowingly for that decades. I think they stopped making it 2018. It was advertised in teenage magazines for a clear skin, from spots for teenage adverts to adults for dry skin and also had a moisturising cream in a jar for older drying skins. The cleanser was milky, light and also moisturising. You didn't need anything else. It was a pleasant product to use, but i think it just fell out of favour because it had been going about 80 years.

    This is one of the reasons I decided to go back onto a carnivore diet and decided to also start my own small homemade carnivore hygiene product business. The products are as safe and all natural as I can make them, they're safe enough that the products could be eaten especially if they're unscented even though I use 100% all natural food grade or at minimum 100% all natural therapeutic grade essential oils. Every product I make starts from the main ingredients being beef tallow and lard.
