- Former prime minister John Howard says suggestions the Liberal Party should embrace “Labor-lite” policies is the “last thing” they should do.
Calls have been made by former Liberals like Trent Zimmerman that the party needs to change their approach to climate change to win back seats lost to the teals and the Labor Party at the 2022 federal election.
“If you have strong policies on the economy, on national security, on family issues, you win the public back, and you choose good quality candidates,” Mr Howard told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“And when you’ve chosen someone, get behind them, whether they’re a man or woman or dripping wet or bone dry.
“You don’t win anything back by embracing the other person’s policy.
“The last thing the Liberal Party should try and do is be Labor-lite.”
Abbott campaigned on boats and energy. Dutton now has a chance to do a carbon copy on energy and migration. Grab the moment gifted to you Dutton and save us from being turned into a nation of peasants.

Do a carbon copy of Abbott is a recipe for failure. The electorate is changing. Millenials and Gen Z voters will make up half the electorate in some states by 2025. The LNP currently attracts 1 in 5 of millennial voters and action on climate change and green energy is one of their electoral prioriteis

I’m personally glad the Libs are in opposition almost everywhere. They need to take time to reset as any party that’s been in power for almost a decade does. They’ll be back although I don’t have much faith in Dutton delivering a win if he’s still leader in 2025, Jacinta Price definitely has potential though.

I detest labors money saving techniques, they sound good at the time but the aftermath is horrendous, and that's historic facts with them, libs just seem to put reps together to follow a trend, that isn't a serious attempt at running anything. People want to make money and get ahead, the moment things get better the government steps in and stops that, it's been done so much now the trust is betrayed to the point both parties have shot themselves in the foot and now they wonder why. One Nation seems to make much more sense with their talking point's, but the shadow masters will make sure there ass is safe first.

John Howard is NOT small in stature. He actually towers over people like Rudd, Hawke and Albanese. He was branded “little Johnny” by Labor as a political and personal put-down. At 11 years, he remains our second-longest serving PM.
