I've just watch a 13 min plus vid and have the impression that it took 4- 5 minutes, that means it was freaking good tutorial, plus I've had fun ... thanks for taking the time and mostly for making it amusing to top it all.. Great work.
Actually...this is probably the most accurate way to achieve dynamic balance without the math and physics (momentum and torque) that is really involved....and I'm a physics/math guy! These techniques are essentially the same as mine when I balance my rig. Awesome guys!
Congrats guys! This tutorial is really good!!!!!! Love the combination with (clean and great performed) comedy and technical tutorial. I actually watch this 2 times to catch everything. The first time was concentrated only in the tech aspect. Now lets have fun seeing again.
These tips worked great for my cheapy stabilizer. The workflow was a key lesson for me, as I didn't know that I had to go back to vertical balance to fix what static and dynamic balance changed. Heck, I didn't even know that there was a static and dynamic balance. Thanks, guys! That was a great help! Also, the funny skits kept your lesson from being boring. :)
awesome video you guyz did a amazing job :D special while setting up battery and monitor. i was confused since last 6 months . when i got dynamic balance my cam always rotating while flying i fixed it now :D thank you so much
This tutorial is amazing! Everything is perfectly clear and looks so easy. I really enjoyed watching it and it was VERY helpful. Will subscribe for sure! :D
Closer than most I've seen...but...still working to hard. Certified SteadiCam owner/operator (a real SteadiCam) since 1978...Certified by Garrett Brown himself. Correct way to balance.. 1st...find the center balance point of your camera rig(use a round pencil or pen that rolls). 2nd...now place your camera rigs balance point over the center of the post...lock it down. 3rd...determine if you want quick moves or lethargic. For lethargic, extend the post. Shorter the post the more of a whip shot you'll achieve. 4th...adjust your weight front & rear to achieve a vertical balance & the side to side on the stage for a full vertical balance. Drop test should be about 2 seconds depending on your shot preference. Best tip...search for dynamic balance for a real SteadiCam either by Garret Brown or Jerry Holloway. Garrett Brown invented the SteadiCam. Also find the practice video...it's old but it works. Shows you how to walk and train...bottom line, practice practice and more pratice. One last thing...don't grip the gimbal handle tight and use only your thumb and index finger on post. Use your pinky to tilt the post. Treat it gently...let it do the work and turn off camera stabilization. Good flying...
1-2-3 is actually about 1.5 seconds. Is there any steadicam operator who has a concept of time that's based in reality?! They keep talking about a 2-3 second rule but count so fast that it's actually half that time...
Great video! After I have set dynamic balance, I readjust the vertical balance. But that just throws the dynamic balance. Do I just keep adjusting between the dynamic balance and vertical balance? Been at it for two hours, can't seem to find a sweet spot.
Very nice tutorial! But my steadycam doesn't have a monitor or battery at the bottom. There are only round plate weights directly screwed unter the sled. Is it possible to change the dynamic balance at the top camera plate ?
This is the best explanation of dynamic balance I've found on the Internet. Thank you!
This is the worst. the technique to achieve it is just wrong.

Thanks for the kind words Luc!! We're all about having fun AND learning!

thats awesome when you decide to share your gold experiences. thanks for people like you.
This is a great tutorial. I have a Blackmagic Cinema Camera and that can be a pain balancing especially when changing lenses. Thanks for this!
Oh my thank you! finally an in-depth and accurate video on balancing!
I don't think I'll ever need to balance a steadicam, but I just enjoy watching this video too much.... ;-)

you have to count like this: one thousand, two thousand etc. It's an ancient rule to get the seconds right :)
Didn't you learn ANYTHING in this video. Don't you know, there is NO reality. Pay attention next time. hehe

Great video. Loved the way you guys explained it. Awesome
Ladies and gentlemen, my coworkers doing what they do best - teaching you shit while being fucking amusing as hell.
We have fun here :)
I dont want to call it shit....but you can give them a raise of their wage for Christmas :-D
this is best.. instruction.. thanks.
The best video how to balance Steadicam :)
Petar'sFinalCut thanks man!!

This must go viral!!!!
Great video I've ever seen man
Where have you been! I've been looking for this demo for a while now!
Great Video Thank you.
Very helpful, but what about the arm and suit? I wanted to learn how to do that too.
Still, I'm grateful for what was done. :)
This way it works good indeed...thanks!!!
no problem Claudia!! glad the video helped!
Thank you for the tips! This was fun to watch! :D
This is so informative!!! Good job guys! #Learnings!!!
#Learnings for days!!

This is just perfect !! Epic how to... video! love it
thanks
why there is no single demo of using a glidecam with a wireless follow focus system.. can u pls explain
are there any videos on the net that really go into the dynamic balance of the Stedicam Pilot?
James V barely
WOW
AWESOME!!!
too late to see this epic one
This is fucking awesome. Informative and entertaining. Nice work!
first thing you have to learn, is how your collor correct your images. :P nice tips but the image,.. bro .. :D

First ! : )
Entertaining video too, the little puns had me laughing.
Well, we are pretty punny!... dang it. Maybe not.
Lol 😂
Dope
when I set the dynamic balance and I bring the rig back to vertical balance the dynamic balance is completely off again... how can I fix this?
MDV Pirojpur বাংলাদেশ
Does this mean you can rent equipment from UA-cam?
Best :)
Lmfao how did I land on this I thought UA-cam Spaces didnt accept early "UA-cam" Music Artists..this shid phunny doe haa
