I’m from San Antonio and I was 15 yrs old when I first saw them. I was in the first row they were on the brain salad surgery tour. It was so amazing that even to this day I can still see them. Mr. Lake was completely mesmerizing well all three of them were, but I guess because I was right in front of him. To me besides yes they were the best prog band who ever existed. Oh! Rush too. By the way the venue they played don’t even exist anymore. I’m 65 now. Thank you all.

I've been a fan of ELP since their first album was released in 1970. I was fortunate enough to see them live in South Florida in 1971. I was 16. They have remained one of my all time favorite bands to this day. I'm 69 now and they are in my opinion the best Progressive Rock Band of all time. Three equally talented monster musicians that have left an indelible mark in the rock music world. The likes of which we'll probably never see again in this lifetime. Rest in Peace Keith Emerson and Greg Lake. God Bless you Carl Palmer. Thank you for the memories. Peace.

My forever #1 band ,I saw them in Concert @ least 15 to 17 times Montreal Olympics stadium, MSG, MAPLE Leaf Garden to name a few. Never ever a bad show show. I even saw Emerson Lake & Powell @ MSG .
They were & hv always been the best Prog Band . If it wasn't ror Keith the MOOG never would hv been brought to the forefront of live music . And yet constantly Snuffed by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame a bunch of total ASSHOLES .

As a young musician in the 60s, I was into Hendrix, Cream, The Who, Credence, Zeppelin, etc. It was all about the guitar. Then on a whim, I bought the Tarkus album, never having heard EL&P. My world was never the same. These 3 gentlemen opened a new world to me. True geniuses and musical Titans. What they have given the world is an immeasurable gift. God rest your souls, Keith and Greg, and God bless you, Carl. And thank you for posting this performance for us to enjoy!

6:25-7:28 - that's what Keith Emerson was able to do. That's what the disorder in his hands robbed him of being able to do any more, and not being able to do that anymore drove him to take his own life. It makes me so sad to see this now, at the absolute peak of his talents, with the knowledge of what became of him. I hope you are indeed resting in peace tonight, Keith. I really do.

Still LOVE ELP so much. Still listening in 2021 after the beginnings of The Nice, King Crimson, & Crazy World of Arthur Brown. After a flood devastated our little area of America, they brought the National Guard in to help, I met a man in there Jay Beck. Introduced me to ELP, with The Nice, I never knew of. Never has my musical tastes moved in such a way. Keyboards man I am. I still love blazing guitars, but give me a prominent keyboard, & there's nothing like it. Styx, Alan Parsons, Pink Floyd, etc. are all my favorite bands, But none is close to ELP. that was from 1972. Next year will be my 50 years.

In the 70s, when I was 13, behind the iron curtain we mainly had Radio Luxembourg with all the "classical" guitar rock bands. Then, one night, in a summer camp I overheard some elder guys' fairly illegal music exchange in the camp's studio with their casette tapes. One of them put on something very strange - all he knew that it was some Emerson or what. I was done. But despite all the investigation it took another two years to accidentaly hear it again, and to learn that it was ELP's Toccata. I still have that smuggled vynil. Completely worn out, listened to a million times, crackled, in ragged cover. In 92 to see them on stage, it was... wow... Now 59, and this video still sent shivers down my spine. Thank you for sharing it with us.

In 1972 ELP became my favorite group and they are still one of my favorites. I had the honor of seeing them in person at the August Jam, Charlotte Motor Speedway (NC) in 1974. I've seen just about all the stars from the 70s but ELP has to be one the best Thank you for posting. Long live the spirit of Keith Emerson & Greg Lake.

I saw ELP at the Hollywood Bowl in 1971, and at the Santa Monica Civic Ctr in 72. In 1974 I saw the Epic Legendary Progressive (ELP) rockers 5 times, incl 3 times in 1 week, San Bernadino, Anaheim and Long Beach, followed by the 4th concert in Wichita 7 weeks later, and last but not least at the CA Jam a couple of weeks later. The first band other than Cream who were dubbed a Super Group right from the start.

Yes indeed, Feb. 9, 1974 at The Swing Auditorium. What a year for ELP, as well as concert goers. 73-79 was "thee" prime era for all rock-n-roll concerts!
Here's audio from that very show:

This was their last ‘great’ tour. Already on this tour, Emerson’s tendinitis was noticeable. Not in his playing so much as in his hand motions when not playing. And Lake was still fit enough to rock out a bit; he’d not yet become the fat guy who could no longer sing. So I’m glad to have seen them twice on that tour, and glad that video of the tour is available.
