This is the Bowie NIN Tour, what made it unique is they never stopped playing when NIN was finishing their set Bowie and band joined them on some of their songs and then launched into Bowies set as NIN did a few Bowie tunes then left the stage, this is right after NIN left the stage. Bowie, as always was brilliant.
Apparently, this move alienated a lot of classic Bowie fans, people were confused haha. Out of all the concerts throughout history, this is one of the top ones I wish I could go back and see. There’s a high quality film of the set out there and it’s goddamn brilliant. Bowie was *just* shy of 50 at this point and, miraculously, in peak artistic form. One of those artists I miss more and more as time goes by. Does my generation have a Bowie? No. Absolutely not. The 90s were the last of the music geniuses that had mainstream success IMO
Besides Bowie's awesomeness, I love Mike Garson's gorgeous piano playing. It is always different on the different performances of this song and always brillant....
So, I'm a huge grunge/hard-rock/prog/metal fanboy who leans really far towards stuff that came out over the past two decades. My respect for David Bowie (I see a lot of comments saying Reznor wasn't even involved in this performance and totally believe you) just skyrocketed after realizing he was experimenting with all of this stuff long before some of my favorite bands and artists were even on the map (right now I lean toward a lot of hard-hitting, groove-oriented, experimental rock like Karnivool, Intronaut, Porcupine Tree, Irepress, and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez's straight-up amazing collaborations with Ximena Sariñana). And this performance speaks volumes about how invested Bowie is in his work as an artist/performer/human being. Respect. Mad respect. So, uh, I think I need to hear this album now. To say nothing of his massive, massive back catalog. Y'all have a good day now. :)
It's great when you discover an artist who paved the way for your heroes, and realise how far back the timeline of inspiration stretches. I wish you many happy hours of musical archaeology, and there's SO much great Bowie work to explore.
I trust you now know more about David Bowie? He is a must in any avant-garde music snob's library, did more as an innovator than most peeps would even have a clue of.
Not even in his fifties yet. His tour with NIN was in '95, so that's when this video would have been shot, and he was born in '47, so he's 48 here. By the time he was 64, he had long stopped touring.
A great live performance, pity the video editing wasn't great. I'd have loved to have been a one of the performances of this tour. Rest In Peace David Bowie, you will be loved forever.
@ Sky Pavillion. Tx for sharing! Oh how i pray Bowie comes out of retirement! Luv to see Bowie & Danny Elfman work together! Long live THE MYSTIC KNIGHTS OF THE OINGO BOINGO! ^,_,^ [spiritquest]*acct hi jacked by mom! LMAO!
I saw this very show. I recall Bowie stopped this song right at the beginning, after some total IDIOT threw a big gulp cup ( nearly missing Bowie's HEAD). Song ended in a beat. "I swear I heard DB yell "WTF". Security nabs him, 3rd row, 2 big bouncers, one on each arm. DB stopps them and asks "Aren't you enjoying the show?" Idiot yells, "I did enjoy the show" (Perhaps pleading?) and DB says "Good. 'cuz now you'll enjoy it from the Parking Lot!!" Crowd cheered loudly, and "Hearts Filthy Lesson" started again as if nothing happened. Masterful. Remainder of show: Brilliant, somewhat Angry, Totally on Point. The show is on my "Favorite Shows of My Life" list, It was a jaw-dropping show, with 2 incredible bands. n i n was great, but the collaboration songs (with both bands onstage) made "Scary Monsters" more scary and monstrous!! Glorious rock and roll noise, Amen
Seeing this video brought back memories. I was actually at the Desert Sky in '95 to see Bowie and NIN. I felt bad for the opening band as no one even applauded.
I listened to this album like a million times!! when I was in art college and I seriously came up with stuff that nobody else was creating! alot of colour! mixed up images and none of that pretty scenes from the countryside to get a safety zone mark :)
+René Moncayo Hehe,,, yeah, I know it;'s Bowie & NIN tour,,, was just mucking about ;) Reznor does actually sing in some of the other tracks on this tour.... 'Hurt' is AWESOME !!
NIN played, then Bowie came on and played some together, then it was Bowie by himself. This is afterNIN left the stage & it was just Bowie and his band
the song from se7en's closing credits. just when the old brad pitt opens the box. enough said. oh btw, the opening credits from se7en is a pretty kick-ass remix of "closer" - track 5 from nine inch nails' Downward Spiral. so yeah
It's a great video, thanks for sharing. However, I'd like to state that NIN really aren't involved in this song in any way. Trent did a remix (Alt version) of this track but Bowie's band doesn't use any elements of that particular version. This is 100% David Bowie/Brian Eno and band.
Great vid, great song, love the Outside album. However, NIN should really be taken out of the post title. I know NIN were on tour with Bowie when this album was released, but it's a bit misleading.
+Michele Coombe go here if you want to laugh your butt off www.amiright.com it's a huge database of misheard lyrics that people submit just like +alexandryan100 put here...

I had front row center for the Atlanta show! Stunning!
Restaurant Macdonald's
I DO REMEMBER THAT ... from Vegas!! UNFORGETTABLE ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great underrated Bowie tune. Good to see it here.
Death of satan
Bowie, the greatest artist of all time! Noboby will never get the same creativity and quality of interpretation.
Bowie is still so far ahead, even when he has passed away 💔
Besides Bowie's awesomeness, I love Mike Garson's gorgeous piano playing. It is always different on the different performances of this song and always brillant....
finally just closed my eyes and turned it up.
David Bowie saying my name made my life complete. ❤
He’s with me,beside me...every day.In my life,in my days...

Haha, thanks! Same to you.
That timeline just keeps going and going, huh?
He was influenced by the Young gods and kurt weil
I trust you now know more about David Bowie? He is a must in any avant-garde music snob's library, did more as an innovator than most peeps would even have a clue of.
NIN + Bowie = Eargasm....
Any Bowie concert is fantastic and not to be missed. Period. I love all David's influences, phases and creative changes.
Death devil
Death of devil
One of my favorite bowie songs, such power and force. Incredible artist
Great Song, great album
Bowie is so amazing! He was 64 here! AYFKM? What a legend! RIP David!
Chris Allen he was in his 50's. He died last year at the age of 69, this was recorded over 20 years ago.

One of the best Bowie's song.
A great live performance, pity the video editing wasn't great. I'd have loved to have been a one of the performances of this tour.
Rest In Peace David Bowie, you will be loved forever.
unbelievable great live version!
Fantastic job !
Great vid....hadn't seen this one before. Love it

You can really hear the influence of the Nine Inch Nails in this music of Bowies.
The man was a creative genius!
simply Amazing!
Superb performance, powerful, brilliant...David always giving the best of himself , with all his energy. just perfect!
I sure wish I had gone to this!
I saw this tour in Seattle and it's one of my top five gigs ever. Simply astonishingly brilliant!!

I was at this concert!!! Loved the transition between NIN and Bowie.
I think I lost my ways ...What a fantastic cool song, great performance !
Such a tune!
LMAO!
A must! Incredibly underrated! Why?!
great live version
what a great combi
Increible!
I was there. Outside tour
Wow, it must have been amazing.... I wish I was there but was 7 at the time..
Bowie is one cool dude..
super!!!!!

I don't understand it yet either but love it enough to play until I do.
WOW!!!...
wow!
This should have as many hits on UA-cam as heroes does
CLASS STUFF! Slow burner me thinks xx
Love this collaboration!! Good Lord who filmed this!!?? it's so irritating, feel a migrane coming on.
❤️
Seeing this video brought back memories. I was actually at the Desert Sky in '95 to see Bowie and NIN. I felt bad for the opening band as no one even applauded.
"Prick" was the opening act. Must not have been popular with either audience
the coolest geezer out ther..no doubt..
bowie at his absolute best.
NIN really add a particular different sound to this song. And Mike Garsons piano playing makes it always another piece, at every performance!
@NoDestinyLive4Now Yes, indeed. Mike Garson's contribution to Bowie's work cannot be highly enough appreciated.
I like the editing of the video, its fun to watch to knee *shrug
Now I have to go listen to Fists Of Love by Big Black.
@annalemp The drummer is Zachary Zack Alford... Worked with bowie (1995/98), Springsteen, Manic Street Preachers, B-52's, ...
This song just made me like david bowie
I was there, funny thing, when he did the man who sold the world, my NIN fan friend asked me why he was doing a Nirvana song! O.o
that editing is infernal...almost unwatchable for me,but show kicks ass,of course.
Professional Virtue
Badasssssss Dude🤪🤪 Rip Ziggy Major Tom
@BOWIEGIRL30
This is actually my favourite Bowie song! :)
I listened to this album like a million times!! when I was in art college and I seriously came up with stuff that nobody else was creating! alot of colour! mixed up images and none of that pretty scenes from the countryside to get a safety zone mark :)
EXCELLENT footage; can't see NIN anywhere though (??)
Trent likes to fuck with people by wearing his Bowie mask
+René Moncayo Hehe,,, yeah, I know it;'s Bowie & NIN tour,,, was just mucking about ;)
Reznor does actually sing in some of the other tracks on this tour.... 'Hurt' is AWESOME !!

Damn!! The quality of the video is amazing. Is there a collection of more videos?? Please pass the link!!
Is there any Blu-ray with this material?
Shout out to Gail Ann!
Yes Head seems better than Heart!
The video editing is making me sea sick
Всё нормально, зато к 2018 нарезать вообще разучились
Unwatchable. Listening is great, though.
@MrBlindPenguin they actually did about 5 songs together but I don't remember this being one of them.
Where is this video from? I this was officially filmed but never released?
if the camera jump cuts one more time I'm gonna seizureureureureurueureurueu ureuruer ureru uer ! AAAGH!
@ isisdly, sorry, my bad for getting ur moniker wrong. Tx again!
Who's been wearing Miranda's clothes?
the song from se7en's closing credits. just when the old brad pitt opens the box. enough said. oh btw, the opening credits from se7en is a pretty kick-ass remix of "closer" - track 5 from nine inch nails' Downward Spiral. so yeah
Who's been wearing Ramona's clothes?
@lesassassins Oh, you are right! I must have mixed it up with another performance. I should never comment before I have watched the video ;-)
Thank god I'm not epileptic.
how can i get the effect of the guitar in this song?
+The King Slayer oo distortion, wah, eq maybe phaser
+Rusty James ring modulator, moogerfooger murf, band pass cv controller foot controller or pittsburg modular for guitar
Cheetara is going down on that bass.
More camera cuts, please.

Who knows who's the drummer in that live?
Great vid, great song, love the Outside album. However, NIN should really be taken out of the post title. I know NIN were on tour with Bowie when this album was released, but it's a bit misleading.
misheard lyric: "hearts filled with essence"
+Michele Coombe That's why they said "misheard" lyric...
+Tina Reggie Exactly! Thanks for getting it (sheesh)
Since it was my mistake I deleted my comment. Now you can all relax :-). Whew!
+Michele Coombe go here if you want to laugh your butt off

it's a huge database of misheard lyrics that people submit just like +alexandryan100 put here...
Aha! Well I've been a Bowie fan since 1973. I'm am ignorant to that stuff - LOL :-).
Editing is migraine inducing.
NO.......... not misleading. trent did the music and helped with the vocals
wasn't this AFTER Trent left?
yes
This live version it's definitely better than album version. Opening riff is much more dark and dynamic.
Too bad the camera guy(s) got a little bit too nuts with the camera cuts...it's annoying as hell.
Does anyone from Nine Inch Nails actually play on this?
This isn't even Trent's "ALT" mix let alone with him...
15 incredibly ignorant people voted this down. Saw DB perform it live 3x.
trent : min 4.11
maybe trent Reznor ... ^^
where was nine inch nails ???
F
i see no NIN
