  • Mental health concerns have always been a taboo here in the Philippines. Filipinos are not really engaging and comfortable having a sit-down conversation about the issues revolving around mental health. People suffering from mental disorders tend to get stigmas from the people who have poor understanding of their condition.
But as the new decade comes, it boils down to us to raise awareness about the importance of mental health. We have to open the eyes of the mass to understand the struggles faced by people with mental disorders and be part of their empowerment.
"A Silent Plague: Understanding People with Mental Disorders from a Social Work Perspective" is a webinar that aims to provide a clear understanding of mental disorders and to see how these conditions are being viewed and stigmatized, through social work perspective. It intends to reevaluate the mental healthcare system in the Philippines and how this can be improved through various areas and levels. This webinar hopes to eradicate the misconceptions and stereotypes that people with mental disorders continue to experience.
