I've never seen it done like this. I'll have to try it next time I have edging to do. What I do is a slip stitch around all the edges, with a slightly larger hook than the project, then crochet the border into the slip stitches with the original hook size. It makes the borders much neater than starting with the border stitches. But I'm definitely going to try this method next time. I may like it better than my current method!
yes I've seen that, that's a neat technique too! It hides the "feet" of the stitch. You could actually combine that technique with this one if you wanted to!
