I’ve loved Gerald McRaney in every role he’s been in since I first saw him in “Simon and Simon”. In “This is Us” he made me cry so much. His best work, imo.
I was watching that episode of “This Is Us.” Having been married to an OB/GYN, I was screaming at the television when he was delivering triplets in a friggin hallway! Such a sad episode.
One episode of Major Dad I remember, is when he came to the defense of the boy of a fellow officer, who was abusing the boy. He confronted the officer and they get face to face, and he goes something like- "I'm not a 10 year boy, and I hit back!"
You know, he seems like the kind of guy and actor, who you’d love to just sit down over a beer and a burger and would just love to hear him tell stories.
Always try to watch whatever Gerald McRaney is in. The years of Major Dad coincided with my years as a Major, although USAF, not Marine Corps. Both my children would tell their non-military brat friends that they live with Major Dad.
I loved Simon & Simon (and Renegade, and a few others). I lived in San Diego and you could catch the film crews doing their thing which was fun to stop and watch them for a bit.
A lot of liked him because of his feel for Regular Joes. Now I have an idea of why that was/is. Even with the other successes, Simon & Simon is the best. I wish shows like that were still around. Wednesday nights have never been the same since.
Gerald McRaney is such a great actor. He brings such charm, wisdom and truth to his roles.
