The story of the Dodge brand is first and foremost the story of two brothers, John and Orace Dodge.
They start making bicycles in Ontario, but soon they make themselves known through the manufacture of mechanical parts for the automobile.
The Dodge "Command Car", series WC-56 and WC-57 was used for the Officers' transportation as well as for connection missions in almost all American and Allied units. This vehicle could carry five seated people and was equipped with a special table allowing the Officers to follow the combat operations on a map. A tarp and removable fabric doors supplement the body, converting it into an open roof vehicle thus facilitating movement in all types of weather.
Dodge trucks are one of the accomplishments of the sensational American war-machine. This machine's extreme standardization will make it one of the key players on combat zones, just like the Jeep and the GMC. The Dodge's main qualities remain its reliability and robustness in all conditions. 1/2 to 3/4 ton Dodges were produced by the Dodge Brothers Corporation, one of Chrysler Corporation's military automobile divisions.
