I don't feel like Adelia was a drama queen I felt she was lonely and wanted a sense of belonging her own Dad was tired of her and didn't really know what to do for her.
I'm very happy that she wound up with Phineas and I hope if there's another epilogue that comes along that they have lots of beautiful children 😊❤

Great story, what a lovely setting in the desert of Egypt. Loved Nefertiti. What a situation they found themselves in..shouldnt ever have happened really. Adelia's father was a selfish man indeed and could have taken a few months out to get her home. What a great book

Your narrator is so passionate. I just finished 3:41 and her heart wrenching reading is brilliant.
This book is so sad. Your acknowledgement of two different people living under the roof of a neglectful father, is just so sad.
These two characters want such different things. Her own father acknowledged how terrible he is... I completely agree. He's terrible.
I don't see how these two should ever be together, except for the compassion and "free ticket" Mr. Fernely can provide. It's not a modern reason to marry. But I can't help but think Fernely could marry her and send her to Gigi to live in England while he lives his life across the world. But that's not a happy ending either.
I need a book club to discuss this plot!

I'm glad you're enjoying it so far. And I agree, Grace Noble does an amazing job with the narration.

Amelia is a terrible person. Everytime she screws up, she punishes Phineas! He is too good for her! I like all your other books better so far. It was hard to wish for her happiness.

Half way through the book and I find Adelia the only sensible one. She is respectful, polite and knows what she wants. Yeah, she was desperate for the guy, but I wouldn’t call it teenage drama, cause her desperation was driven by fear of eternal loneliness. She was already referred to as a spinster even by her own father and brother. Both Fernley and her father were selfish and greedy, but she was compassionate, she believed that the treasures of Egypt belonged to its people and nobody else. And she truly cared about her maids and their values, even though they didn’t bat an eyelash before betraying her and didn’t even apologize to her. I kinda hate every other character except Adelia.

I'm a traditionalist, but Adellia acts like a preteen girl......I just want to scream "grow up!!!". 😩

She was a bit selfish and whiney for sure 😅

Agreed, she took a bit of getting used to. Although, I'm only 2/3rd
      through.
Edit: Still not sold on her at 3/4, but will soldier on.

I think you just didn’t try to look at things from her perspective. She is the only sensible one in the book, everyone else is selfish, greedy and to be honest a hypocrite.

King Tut's tomb was officially discovered November 4, 1922, and wasn't known in the 1790s. The term archeologist wasn't coined until 1900, before that it was biblical scholars and army persons on campaigns that researched rumours of treasure for financial gain, not knowledge.

King Tut's tomb was not mentioned in this book as I was aware that the discovery was after the Regency era. This book mentions the Valley of the Kings, a large area with many tombs. As this is a work of fiction, I took liberties by placing my character in this section of Egypt during the Regency era.
My understanding is that the term archaeologist was invented in the 17th century as the earliest known archaeologist was Nabonidus from 6th century BC. Although I did extensive research for this book, this information was a quick Google search. academic.oup.com/book/727/chapter-abstract/135390393?redirectedFrom=fulltext&login=false
