Really enjoyed this. It amazes me how you can have that many variations of the same story and for them all to be entertaining and believable to the original. Well done
I love this story. Even though I'd read it and listened to it previously, I had forgotten how it turned out. My heart was in my throat when Darcy offered Elizabeth 'the choice' toward the end. Gulp. Adored the kittens!.
Thank you for sharing this charming story. I thoroughly enjoy Jane Austen's works and many of the variations out there. Yours is a very nice addition to those! (I do like this Mr. Darcy and the way he and Elizabeth get together, very original and well done.
Loved it, all Mrs Bennett’s daughters found husbands & she found happiness. Miss Bingley is so awful she makes me cringe with how atrocious she is. Every book has a different, interesting retake of the original & I’ve really enjoyed everyone. Many thanks for all the enjoyment ❤❤❤
Wonderful story! I loved how clever and witty the dialogues were between the Bennets and the Netherfield party. I’m excited to check out your other work! 😊 Thank you so much for sharing it with us!
I love ur books and ur narrator perfect combo! U r so talented! Please keep them coming! U keep my mind on a happy note due to my bout with Breast cancer! Thank u!❤
How I loved this twist and turn of a lovely variation of P & P. Well done, Jennifer, and my favourite narrator, Stevie. I just couldn't go to sleep without hearing the end.WCL
AT LAST!!!! ❤ I am a Huge Jane Austen fan- to the point of only enjoying specific movie adaptations of her books (sorry, but i cannot stand the Kira knightley version); and I'm also a history buff. My family will roll their eyes & attest to my passion when it comes to such things. Lol. I have begun to read countless variations and sequels, etc, of Jane's books, only to find them unclean (i only read clean books), ridiculous, boring, too "modern" minded for that time period, or (& this is a huge pet peeve) they change the personalities of beloved characters. I have NEver finished reading an Austen spin-off or variation. I am only halfway through listening to this book & im already planning which to listen to next!! Your writing is WONDERFUL!! Thank you for staying in tune with Jane's characters, historic mindsets, cleanliness, style of dialogue.... you are now on my list of authors i enjoy & ill be recommending to my family & friends! Thank you!!! ~Liz
Thank you, Liz! Your comment makes my writerly heart so very happy. While I can’t guarantee that you’ll love all of the plot lines (although that’s the eternal hope😄), I can guarantee that all my stories are clean. I hope you find more to enjoy! ☺️ Happy listening!
I really enjoyed this one, though it was hard at the end to realize Jane was not marrying Bingly, a surprise for sure. I like the way you had Richard play off Darcy in some scenes, it showed us more of their character. I have a question about the Regency period, what exactly is meant when they say "He has 10,000 a year",etc. Is it an inheritance and how can it be paid every year? How long does it last? We know now that investment money isn't always a sure thing! I always wondered about this term in stories.
Great question, Mary, and thank you for listening! The 10,000 a year was what Darcy earned from his Pemberley estate from rents and agriculture. So it’s very likely that his income was much more once investments were added in… Another UA-cam channel I love to watch has a great, in depth explanation about this that you might like. And, did all families want their daughters married off early, even to old or stupid men??? 😮 My parents would have kept me at home till I was 40 if I would have cooperated!
This is tearing me apart. At some points I had to disassociate the original characters from these two. When I've done that I can enjoy this story. Otherwise I'm here like Elizabeth would never ... Or Darcy would neverrr .... Or the Binglys would neverrr... There is something about the gaps in a classic story that allows you to make the whole thing both yours and the author. So, once I remove myself from my theories on P&P I can see the author's stance in her spin. If you enjoy a bookclub where you discuss theories you will likely enjoy this. Me, I think this is a good, fun, what if take on a classic from one fan to another
Favourite scene, has to be the leading up to Darcy giving Elizabeth the (contrived) choice!! then endind with Mrs Hill locking them in the drawing room. Wow ❤WCL
A Mr Darcy who used to brush his mother and sisters hair and knows how to braid. Sigh. Heart flutter. 💕 Any book where Caroline Bingley gets her just desserts is always a pleasure. My favourite scene was her takedown by Richard, Darcy and then Bingley. Priceless.
Listening again. This time my favourite scene was Richard with a kitten on his shoulder still intimidating Wickham while Darcy slowly kissed Elizabeth’s hand. And Mr and Mrs Hill helping Darcy into a dry coat. And Richard’s subtle wooing of Jane, defending her at every turn. Whenever a Variation gives Richard the finance to marry for love it is extra special. I also love Jane’s gentle let down of Bingley, realising she needs a man to marry and not a boy. The kittens are so cute and Richard’s cheeky thoughts likening Bingley to a dog and Darcy to a cat are hilarious. I would have liked Lydia to get a punishment for her behaviour at the ball. She is the most irritating character in the whole of Pride & Prejudice. As an eldest sister had she changed the direction of my life that much she would have received many reprimands and corrective behaviours from me. So much more enjoyable the second time around.
Not sure I like this version of Darcy against his 'friend' Bingley who is ever loyal...feels uncomfortable to be honest...love the kittens and enjoy your stories thank you
I’m hoping that another reader will chime in because after writing so many stories featuring a troublesome Collins, I can’t remember what he did in this one 😆
Thank you for sharing your books with us! I especially love clean novels and greatly appreciate you writing them.
You’re welcome, Amanda! It’s what I prefer to read/listen to too 😊
Stevie is an excellent narrator, she makes the characters come alive.
She’s amazing! I couldn’t agree more!
Really enjoyed this. It amazes me how you can have that many variations of the same story and for them all to be entertaining and believable to the original. Well done
Thank you so much, Tracey! They’re such a great cast of characters to work with ❤️
I love this story. Even though I'd read it and listened to it previously, I had forgotten how it turned out. My heart was in my throat when Darcy offered Elizabeth 'the choice' toward the end. Gulp. Adored the kittens!.
Thank you, Michelle! I love to know what parts of a story readers most connect with ❤️

I love the Cousin Richard character. The perfect wingman for Darcey.
I love your variations on Pride and Prejudice.
Thank you so much, Connie! I sure love writing them😊

I think Darcy’s main problem is that he tries to make too many happy but unable to take his life in his hands.
Great observation! It's so satisfying to give characters who try to make others happy a HEA of their own❤

While I like the possibilities of how our actions provide different outcomes, the final matches here made me a bit sad. Still love the original novel.
Thank you for listening, Caroline!

Thank you for listening, Jay!
narrated by Stevie Zimmerman...it's going to be a !ovely read!
The Colonel's take on how Darcy would have "courted" Elizabeth 😂😂😂
He’s one of my favorite characters to write 😄
What did Collins do?
I’m hoping that another reader will chime in because after writing so many stories featuring a troublesome Collins, I can’t remember what he did in this one 😆
I really do not like Caroline
Yeah, she's not very likable in this variation, but I like to think she gets her just deserts in the end☺
Cats and karma
That's a perfect catchphrase!
