- Re-Introducing the Behringer RD-9 Rhythm Designer.
As the development of the RD-9 is now coming to an end, we are glad to update you and re-introduce it with its final sounds.
The RD-9 is a fresh new take on an iconic classic, fitted with our own custom made analogue components which have been carefully engineered and developed, giving a truly authentic sound. All whilst introducing new performance features, controls, and connectivity with modern-day musicians and producers in mind.
For those wanting to stay as true to the original sound as possible, the RD-9 offers both an enhanced mode and authentic mode, allowing the option to bypass newly introduced functions.
The RD-9 introduces the ability to control your tones even more by introducing pitch and pitch depth control of the bass drum and, also pitch control of the hi-hat. 3 controls never found on the original, however play a big part in helping you further dial in your desired sound.
This modern-day approach to this absolute classic gives you the best of both worlds. New sound or old sound? Enhanced mode or Authentic mode? The RD-9 lets you decide.
The RD-9 will begin shipping within the next 1-2 months from our factory.
Behringer - We Hear You.
Hey everyone! Hope you're all safe and well. Firstly, thank you so much for your fantastic feedback on the RD-9! Please feel free to let us know below what sort of videos you would like to see on the RD-9 next. For example, are there any specific RD-9 functions/features/performances you would like a video on? Many thanks and see you on the next video! - Dan
Jeff Mills session with it.
@@theviirus We can confirm that the RD-9 will feature this. Many thanks - Dan
What about a video on the price..? ;)
I’d really like to hear the snare and clap together. Do they flam as well?
I would really like an indepth demo of each sound, so we can hear what they really sound like :)
I would also like to know if we can adjust the swing in the old fashioned way by choosing one of the steps 1-6. Just makes it more simple and quick to just have those limited choices instead spending time having to decide a value.
And can we adjust the velocity? Can the trigger pad be velocity sensitive?
Sounds like you were going to "pump up the jam" at any moment.
Looks like they went from orange to blue/purple. It really fits the unit better, not to mention the lights aren't flashing as much as in the prototype version.
Or feel the "Good Vibration"
They were samples , the kick was from a baby ford 12 inch
@@172Break i worked for them so that is why i knew
@@172Break the chord stabs and delayed bass were prophet 5 and oberheim ob8, rest was sampled into s1000 and emax
Nice to see you in so many videos, Dan. RIP
Why do people hate Behringer so much? They’ve brought fantastic old school synth hardware back to the masses. Jupiter 8 next, please...🤞
Yeah what happened! I remember something happening but what happened really?
Now do the LinnDrum and DMX and my drum machine rack will be complete.
🔈🔉🔊💡 • Been waitin’ for Behringer to make their versions those 2 💯
I've built just for fun a 1U 19'' rack LinnDrum 15voice polyphony (vs 12 original) 6 independent filters for HT LT HC LC SN BD (vs 1 for BD and 1 common HT LT HC LC SN in the original). But do I really need it? No. Cause no one needs raw sound. Row sound is shit , so everyone uses processed samples instead in a sampler.
@Sometimes I piss in my own ass How does that work? your username I mean, are you able to keep it contained somehow, or do you just accept that you'll make a mess a go ahead anyway? Do you hate yourself afterwards?
Been waiting for a LinnDrum clone for a while
I hope Arturia clones this and then release a video of Jeff Mills playing it.
King comment!
Arturia already made and released DrumBrute which is pretty awesome.
@@DestroyER82 If it wasn't for those horrible hats.
@@Dougie- I find them pretty nice to be honest. Pretty punchy in mix and not really similar to 909 and other drum machines, which is benefit (at least for me) to not sound same like many other tracks.
Arturia gonna do nothing like for the Wing 🤣
"Priced to suit people's pockets, without being pocket sized."
That was brilliant
#notaboutique
It's not like Roland didn't make a big ass TR-8S. You have nothing to complain about really.
@@187onasimp which is digital
Bahahahahaha yeah that was funny af
That should be a Behringer’s logo.
This is one of the BEST buy I did.
To be honest, all recent BEHRINGER machines are just bargains.
Keep it up Behringer, you are writing the electronic music history forever: we are finally capable to own all our dream machines, plus with midi and extra features……
This will have a REAL impact into the electronic music world and industry.
I’m very, very thankful, and especially, I’m f@cking happy !!!!!
Just sold my Tr-909 for $5k so now I can replace it for $300... nice!!
The price of 909 will grow by time because of this clones.
@@_djsport probably but the demand pool of people that have over $5000 to spend on one is shrinking. I think current owners of 909s that are waiting to sell will find it will take a very long time if at ever to sell at over $5,000. Took me over 90 days and that's in a hot market with stimulus checks being mailed to US citizens. And that was mint and refurbished. Its like home owners claiming they are worth over a million dollars and adding in their home's equity. The equity is only real when you can sell it. I do agree that these clones will never devalue the real thing though. I bought my 909 because I could and I wanted the real thing for nostalgic and collector reasons, not because it was somehow magically better than the 909 clones. People that split hairs over the real thing v the clone sounds are fooling themselves. No one who listens to their music is going to stop when they realize it was made with a clone.
@@christurbiville Very true about the authenticity to the audience. It's strictly for the people into the gear who made the tunes and their satisfaction that comes from either owning or using 'authentic' sounds. The general audience doesn't care if you used real analog gear or just samples on computer, they're listening to the music, not the pieces of kit used to make it.
so what are you going to do with the rest of the money?
@officialRJThomas invest in gamestop stock 😂 for real though I flip old school drum machines, so probably buy another MPC or give it to my money manager to grow.
Was watching this during breakfast and was going to add some cheese to my sandwich but I suddenly felt the need to pump up some jam instead.
If you combine RD-8 and RD9 with all voices and editable parameters you end up with a World winner. Behringer you can do it!
Got the RD-8 recently, that thing is simply amazing. Can't wait for this to drop, you guys really know what you are doing.
U mean copy everyone who came before them
@@gladlawson61 And the problem with that is???
weird, sold mine. as the midi implementation sucks big time. almost non usable.
@@gladlawson61 Feel free to pay for a used Roland.. they go for about €3500 😂
@@klaasj7808 Can u elaborate? How is the midi function?
10 months ago when this video was released I was sulking about delays (1st World problems hey?)
Well my RD9 landed last night from Andertons and I have to say I'm thrilled!
I owned a tr8s and still have a tr8 bit there is something special about this.
Behringer you have done an amazing job and for the money it's just ridiculous what has been achieved.
The sequencer is tip notch, individual outs, dual filter and a wave designer. On top of all of that it looks stunning and the build quality is superb.
Well done. Absolutely killing it x
This is going to be one of those things that we all end up buying, isn't it? 😔
#trueFact
It will be the td3 all over again
i'm afraid so...
Jup!
I bought a TR-8S cause this took so long :(
Can't wait for another re-introduction video in 2 years
😗👌
waiting for the Linn clone
Sounds good enough for me. I'll be buying since I always regret not picking up an OG in the 90s.
I wasn't even alive in the 90s and I still want one :p
1987, I went into Soho Sound House in London - they had a slightly grubby TR-909 for sale at the same price as brand new TR-505's. I purchased......a brand new TR-505. Doh !
I also regret not buying it. Mostly because I wasn't even born yet🤣
Finally 2021 is looking 🤩 again
Hell yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
But I wouldn't mind a little lockdown going on when this arrives.
The effect these Modern Analogue Machines are having on a generation of musicians will be referred to in music history books. Legit.
i'm literally watching that video everydays !!
I hope it is available to purchase soon.
@@jsav100 me too !
Beringher is like the brand that take oldshcool musical gear and remake it at a decent price and sometimes, even better.
Dance music has really come on over the past 30 years hasn't it !
Underrated comment.
Lol
🤣
First thing im programming is hunter by Bjork. Can’t wait !!!
Great 909 programming track 👍 by Mark Bell.
Amazing, thank you behrigner! Revolutionising music for everyone.
It looks and sounds fantastic! My only comment: the sound names in red on black are hard to see in the video, and will be pretty much invisible in low light. Either get rid of the red and let the beige show through, or...how about use glow-in-the-dark paint instead of the red? :)
I think all gear should have lettering that glows in the dark/UV. It is such a little thing that would add SO MUCH utility in live performances.
..have trouble remembering the order of 10 sounds.. lol
Hi Scott - Dan here and I just wanted to clarify that the text is orange in colour and is far more visible in person. Not sure why my camera gave it that particular red look but please be assured, it is far easier to read and so much more appealing to the eye in person.
*PLEASE* remake the Emu SP1200 or Emulator II+.
I can't wait for your remake of the Yamaha CS-80.
Be a shame if we are out of lockdown when the CS-80 comes out, should bring out a Virus clone 1st.
THe SP1200 has kinda been remade already by Isla. Just google it. Sounds awesome but it is still kinda expensive, but it's made by a very small team.
I cant wait for the remake of the original brown cardbox the ms20 came in
It looks really nice. The added pitch features are good. I wish they would have put a tune knob on the RD-8 cowbell.
I think the cowbell shares the hh oscillators so doing that would tune the hats
@@PorchBass ah interesting. I think that could be interesting tho!
FINALLY!!!!!
3 Years of Tears and waiting! Congratulations Behringer🧐😎
The new 2600s casually bleeping on the side, good
This is going straight to the Pool Room
Good call on the enhanced features bypass. Looks like a winner.
Next, they will release the Behringer-T. A replica of the Model-T Ford.
And people would buy it, because it would have new parts and would be affordable to people who aren’t rock stars
Camt wait for the Behringer Zeppelin!
Ahahaha
But it would be an electric vehicle
I would get one. :D
Behringer! You are the World best Company! Thx
Cannot wait to have this sitting next to my RD-8!!!
The clap sounds just like my old DR110...which I just dug out and found it was dead... the king is dead, long live the king!
DR110 was awesome, my first drum machine in the 80s!
the RD 6 also has the DR110 Clap sound! Sooo nice
yeeeeeyyyy!!! it took ages, and lots of people waited for this.. but at last we are there.. cant wait :-)
Thank you so much Behringer 👍🏻👌❤️
Amazing news!!! Foaming out the mouth for this Behringer!!! Cannot wait!!!
Finally, an original Behringer product!
As a former TR-909 owner, I would say that it does not nail the original gear, BUT it sounds incredible anyway and its sounds are quite usable. IMHO, Behringer has made an instant winner here. Good job, Uli & team.
Same . 3 trig outs Full 1/4 trs An desk heaven
I DON’T HAVE ENOUGH ROOM LEFT IN MY TINY STUDIO FOR MORE GEAR!!!!!!!!!!!
When will it be available? 😔
I already moved to a bigger house in preparation.
Roland have a "pocket sized" answer for you :-)
@@iixorb them boutique units are quite rare now already. Definitely Worth picking one up if you ever come across one. They will be highly sought after in years to come no doubt.
@@iixorb
But I’ve already got the RD-8 and my OCD doesn’t allow me not to have a matched pair. 😢
@@noname52768 I hope so - I've got most of them :-)
Just bought this. Now all we need is a 727 remake and everything will be perfect.
Thanks a lot Behringer. Order placed, might go for the rd 8 as well. Really irritated by people bashing the Behringer clones but at the same time small eurorack companies doing clones getting lots of credits. Anyway, I am really looking fwd to the RD-9. Even there might be differences between original and clone it seems to sound just right.
Kick spot on , good work ;)
Exactly my impression and I think the clap as well. Hats and ride sounds right too. Don't know about the snare, but I never liked that anyways. The only 909 sound that I dislike 😄
@@nym053 Clap sounds better than my old 909 this is very fast eddie smith .
@@atommachine that can only be a good thing. Had considered buying Erica synths drum modules. They sound really great. But the tom module alone costs as much as the rd-9, if the price will be the same as rd-8. But the modules are based on the Nava, which is known for being exactly the same as the original 909. But I think that the rd-9 will be good enough for me. And then I don't have to buy a case and a BSP as well 😅
A dream come true ! 🙏🏻
Finally !!! Superb !!!
I see comments talking price and release date, word is: $349 / £299 and 1-2 months. Maybe wise to keep your eye on stores for pre-order in the coming weeks for finer date, which seems the usual for these things today.
I didn't think I'd be interested but now it's a reality I'm thinking I could find space for one if the price is right. The RD8 didn't hook me but there's an urgent energy to this one that samples don't capture.
This sounds much more like a 909 than the RD-8 sounded like an 808.
That sounds just about right as an early 2000's trance & progressive to me.
Goa trance here we come!
SP1200 is the one we're waiting for. And SQ80 synth
I had 4 S2400 samplers. I have 3 left. I may sell one soon..
I just got my second td-3 the other day. Now I have the rd-8, td-3(x2), Korg volca samples, and now SOON the rd-9, my home analog REBIRTH 338 will be complete!
Totes amazeballs!!
ok so whens the RD-78 ?
Without being pocket sized 😂❤️ SHOTS FIRED ☀️ im gonna get 2
Well done you guys, waiting for Elka Synthex clone next ??????? 😃
sp 1200 next please . Uli for president of the universe.
finally thanks mr B looking forward to this gem for a long time almost 30 years!
This sounds good. The last demo especially sounds like an original TR-909.
The snare is off , it sounds like the noise portion is to high and the lower mids are missing , together with kick and clap the most important 909 sound
Give it some time to age
it sounds like a 909's little brother
That hi hat sample from back in the day, still wins
FINALLY!!!!! Been waiting over a year!
Yes! The cornerstone of my acid station! 🤘
Imo the best sounding 909 clone to date.
You should check out the DinSync RE-909... it’s an exact replica
@@nyrbsamoht just my opinion. Take it with a grain of salt.

turning the hihat tune knob, when there is no hihat -- legend :D
Blame the video editor :)
I've been waiting over 2 years for this. When will pre orders be available?
After we put a station on Mars
They say it is out in 1-2 months, so pre-order is likely weeks away.
Right now of you email your Sweetwater sales engineer.
I cant believe Roland have sat on their backsides missing out on this opportunity, the demand is huge for these instruments. Yes the boutiques are good and very useful but even those of us who bought them still want the real deal. Great that Behringer have come to the rescue, this looks great and I will be buying one. However, if Roland put out an exact clone of the original I'd buy that too, this is how much demand there is and Roland need to stop the sulk and deliver the goods, same with the Junos and Jupiter series, we all want them badly.
@@maccagrabme Well Roland did of course make the TR-8, TR-8s, TR-6s and MC-707, but honestly this clone is much more aesthetically pleasing lol
I'm so glad that this is coming out but I'm getting sick of waiting!
Dear Santa Behringer, please don't forget our RD7 and also RD27 and also RD26 and also a nice Binndrum and BMX ! (But red the BMX 😝) I also have a special order i would like an UBXa for next christmas, could you please built a Brophet 10, a Jup8 and a BS80 ?! Would you please release a Gold TD3 cause this color is missing ^^ (seriously you should think about it...) Promise you I'll be very kind this year ! Thank you Santa Uli and thank you for already provided me a vc340, yellow TD3, rd8 and PolyD last year I have plenty of fun with them. PS : Don't forget my sister who asked you a Pink MS-1. ❤️😘😍❤️😘😍
Con una Tr-909 también se grabó un disco de Mocedades en un estudio de San Sebastián.
jaajajajajajajaj

Thank you veeeeeery much!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
This took so long to come out since it was originally announced I had forgotten about it o.O
THAT IS THE SIZE WE WANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like time has paid off here - seems like Behringer have got this RIGHT :-)
Just got an RD-9 in the mail yesterday!😁👍 i havent been able to turn it off! i have the RD-8 too, & they're both amazing! great work Behringer! the Enhanced mode is a nice addition! My only question is regarding the clap/snare in combo? they sound like they phase together? is that how the original was? if not, is there an internal trim pot I could adjust?
I plan to add this to my set-up.
"Priced to suit ppls pockets...without being pocket sized" that's a good line B. Bring back the old Behringer logo with the patchcables forming the ear pls.

I must admit, it sounds pretty darn close. Wow. Great job. If it wasn't for the size, I would get one. Pocket size will have to do for me and my cramped working space.
Bigger = easier to tweak and control while playing

I watch this Video again and again... and i can' t believe i t!!!! :-)
Can you please clone my beautiful son RIP, I miss you Lukey everyday. I'll never forget you boy.
The red sound names are indeed a bit hard to read...but I like the overall look (even including THAT colour combination...despite the lack of contrast) nonetheless. It's even a bit "unique" compared to Roland. And after a few hours of working with the RD-9 everybody will already know which channel stands for which sound anyway. No big deal in my opinion. And probably the BEST thing about the RD-9 is that Behringer already made all the firmware mistakes with the RD-8 in the past. The RD-9 benefits from that BIG TIME. Soundwise it seems to be spot on. Now I'm curious about the hardware quality and the price...
Hi SauermusicDE - Dan here and I just wanted to clarify that the text is orange in colour and is far more visible in person. Not sure why my camera gave it that particular red look but please be assured, it is far easier to read and so much more appealing to the eye in person.
