Great game by Oettinger and Dallas defensively as a whole, as the Flames couldn't get much traffic infront of the net, nor could the create many chances in the slot. The first goal is extremely important in the series, and I wouldn't be surprised if Darryl makes the decision to yank Jarnkrok from the lineup for game 3, and inserts Ryan Carpenter

Wow! Otty/Stars defense has been on an absolutely other level lately! Flames have managed to score one goal (which was on a PP) through two games and they are a top 5 scoring team. Sheesh. I think Stars are going to surprise and take this series.

This Dallas stars team is reminding of the 1999 Dallas stars team. Solid team. Great goalie and getting physical against teams. I definitely see stars winning this round one. 🤞🏼

But here in 2022 Dallas has been the biggest underdogs and are already surprising the entire NHL. The Stars being the only team that made the playoffs with a negative GD (Goal Differential), But Dallas in 2020 was in similar spot being the underdogs every round, hearing Flames in 5, and Avs in 5, and Knights in 5, and Bolts in 5. Dallas proved the entire NHL wrong in every round, even tho they lost the Cup Finals. (Due to the Bolts playing their hearts and asses out, plus Vasy being a monster.)they still gave a great fight, and I believe due to them doing so well, they now have their hearts on fire in playoffs. (certainly not tregular season) So we will see if Dallas keeps doing what they are doing.
If it's low scoring, the Stars have the advantage. A lot folks picked them to lose in 5, doesn't make sense to me. They play that defensive style that is perfect for the playoffs. Good luck.
So many Flames fans complaining about their team. This is what happens when you run into a hot goalie. Calgary either needs to adapt or risk losing in the first round just like #1 Vancouver did vs Jonathan Quick and #8 LA during the first round in 2012. The difference here is that Luongo couldn't match Quick save for save where as I believe Markstrom actually can. It's up to the Flames forwards to get in front of Oettinger and start claiming the front of the net as 2 or 3 goals should be enough to pull out a win..since Markstrom will shut the door.
It's not just a hot goalie. Oettinger's been good obviously, but Bowness is running a tight system and Dallas have some really good and experienced defensive defenseman in Lindell and Suter to take care of things down low. Just claiming it's due to a goalie standing on his head or something is lazy. Calgary had 29 shots this game, they hardly bombarded the guy with high danger lateral chances. This Dallas team is playoff experienced and has been to the SCFs. Calgary just doesn't have any great secondary scoring. They relied way too much on their 1st line through the regular season, and looks what happens now when they predictably dry up. Both Markström and Oettinger been good so far, so goaltending looks even.
Why was the first period given 5 minutes in this video while the 2nd and 3rd only got a minute and a half each. It’s not like the first was particularly exciting either.
As an Oilers fan.. I just want to say, I stand behind my principles.. I honestly hope Calgary gets through this stage.. I would love to see more Canadian teams getting through this first round (thankfully we have none facing eachother yet). So go Flames!

71 hits in this game, split 36 D/35 C, and a total of 26 penalty minutes. There were only 54 (20 D/34 C) in game 1, but 60 penalty minutes to balance it out a bit. The Oilers/Kings games have had 78 and 94 hits, and 20 PIM in both games. There aren't as many hits in this series so far, but things have been chippy.

@@Musicrecords10 The Stars are a mediocre regular season team but showed in 2019 (lost round two game 7 in 2OT against the eventual cup champs in a game where Jamie Benn had a puck dancing on the goal line in overtime) and 2020 (run to cup finals) that they indeed are better built for the playoffs. Not saying they will last long this year though, but it does seem that the Flames aren't prepared for the type of hockey that the Stars implement.
@@drexxler138 Avs are praised to the skies every season as elite and possible cup champs, but haven't reached beyond the second round since 2002 and the glory days of Roy, Sakic and Forsberg. Last year they fissled out against Vegas after looking unbeatable in round one, so I'll wait a bit longer before I give them their due.
Dallas could beat any NHL team in the NHL. if they all come to play at their level when they don't they look like a Junior A team. If the Stars play continues at this level. They have a shot. We just have to waite and see who comes to play!

@@Musicrecords10 The Stars are a mediocre regular season team but showed in 2019 (lost round two game 7 in 2OT against the eventual cup champs in a game where Jamie Benn had a puck dancing on the goal line in overtime) and 2020 (run to cup finals) that they indeed are better built for the playoffs. Not saying they will last long this year though, but it does seem that the Flames aren't prepared for the type of hockey that the Stars implement.
@@drexxler138 Avs are praised to the skies every season as elite and possible cup champs, but haven't reached beyond the second round since 2002 and the glory days of Roy, Sakic and Forsberg. Last year they fissled out against Vegas after looking unbeatable in round one, so I'll wait a bit longer before I give them their due.
