I like that your process of splitting and stacking is as easy as can be made for your back.
Hey, Amanda, Your presence adds so much to the videos. You win UA-cam's best supporting actress.
Thank you...she appreciates that! 😀 👍 🍻
Nice job Mrs. Back 40, Mr Back 40 is lucky to have such a good helper.
Amanda is a great worker! "Work" is always more enjoyable when you have a person to share it with. Have a great day!
Yes indeed the work is more enjoyable AND gets done faster....lol 😀 👍 🍻
Wow 😮 wood yard is filling up fast. I couldn’t keep up with all the wood coming in from my tree Service. Started delivery and Crank the heat in the shop. I agree satisfying🤣
Great wood splitter you have and i have only seen one here in Cape Town South Africa in my 63 years
Good morning 40! Love to see Amanda gets it. She gets involved in something you love to do and doesn’t think your a crazy wood hoarder! 🤪B🆒
Hey Wood Hound...well I'm not 100% sure she's not thinking that, but is great to get the help...lol
Great help you got there Wood hound.
Nice job guys! 😁 soo much easier and faster splitting with a helper for sure!
Teamwork makes life easier no matter the job.. I don’t sell wood but I give some loads away. I’m about 2 years ahead for my own stuff. My tree guy just brought me a nice load of honey locust. There’s a couple of nice saw logs, I’ll save for Davey. The rest I’ll turn into firewood. Got my t shirts yesterday , Nice!!! Thanks for the speedy service!!😎
"Kind of satisfying," yes it certainly is and you guys have some serious wood there. It's nice having the tree service drop it off like that. You guys stay safe and give the boss man an extra hug once in a while
That has been a huge plus this year getting a nice network built with this tree service. 😀 👍 🍻
Like I always tell my wife and kids; A family that splits together, sticks together lol ;-)) Shalom/gw
Looks like picture #1 won out . Good choice . Work gets done faster when you work as a team . Great video.
I said the same thing to myself
Great family team work CHeers 😊👍
Good stuff to have on hand .
Amanda did a good job running the splitter.looked pretty comfortable with the controls. Getting a pretty big stock pile. 👍
Yes she did...and was her 1st time, didn't take her long to catch on to controls of it...I was impressed! 😀 👍 🍻
Every time that splitter does its work is more $$$. Nothing like teamwork.
Nice working together Dan! Much quicker too when you have a second set of hands on the machine. Good stuff!
Thanks buddy....yes indeed that 2nd set of hands is nice, especially during stacking when for unknown reasons me moving the camera takes a little longer but she keeps on stacking....hahahaha
Great video of team work 👍🏽
Good job great video thanks have a good day
Great working partners great job
You have alot of firewood. Nice to have the tree service hook up. Saves alot of work. That looks to be some big ash rounds
Yeah those Ash rounds I may do another 'how many pieces from 1 round' with, they're big! 😀 👍 🍻
The methodology all comes together in a complete package! That also gives you full control of how much of each type of firewood you produce based on needs also, though of course it's always nice to have a surplus of each type.
Challenging weather conditions the last couple of weekends eh? I tried for about an hour and a half on Sat. because it was mostly cloudy but me and very high humidity cannot coexist!
Yes indeed the weather hasn't been the "I can't wait to get out in the wood yard" type...lol...yeah yesterday/Saturday even with the overcast here it was stickier than ever...could barely get my shirt off it was so soaked....hahaha
@@Back40Firewood Same, today (Sun.) I was still ringing wet but, I could breathe and I reckon that made all the difference. Breathing is important!
TeamWork makes the Dream Work ! I’m lucky that Melissa likes to stack. And load the stove.
That's right brother...OHH the stacking is always the best part to have help with. 😀 👍 🍻
Modifying the splitter with an extended and slight inclined tray for the split wood so it goes directly into the "bucket" would make the process more efficient and safer. Many fingers and hands have been cut off across the U.S. when there is one person putting the wood on the splitter and another running the controls. This modification would allow one person to put the wood on the splitter and also run the controls. The second person could focus on adjusting the split wood as needed in the "bucket" and assist with supplying wood as needed. Hope you both stay safe😊😊
That's a lovely log splitter machine looks good to .😄
All jokes aside that's a serious log splitter . Enjoy the vids
lol...thanks! Glad you enjoyed & yes that splitter is a machine!
Nice 👌
Cool Sun. Morn. Vid. BK40ty.That process worked very well.catch you folks later. Have a awesome Day.
Yo RO thanks buddy...hope ya had a great weekend over there.😀 👍 🍻
You are lucky to have a good lookin and active partner. I bought 3 cords of rounds and some of them were 3 feet in diameter. I put the tongue of my wood splitter on the ground so I could roll them into the splitter. Easier to lift after split. Also my splitter wedge has an increasing angle so, the round pops open after about 6 inches. I have my splitter in the barn so I do not need to stack, just throw it on the pile. At 85, I need to save energy.
Good work and good luck.
Dave Hansen
Splitting and stacking must be magic words. 100K way to go
Looks like ya guys worked great together
The beauty of editing...lol....no, just kidding! ha
New sub here , nice set up you have going . Its always nice to have a second person helping, my wife just likes to supervise lol
Hey Larry, welcome to the Back 40 channel and community. Thanks on the set up...and yeah I'm sure sooner or later my wife will assume the Supervisor role in the wood yard as well...hahaha 😆 👍 🍻
The Amazing Amanda, a woman who will work along side her man! Very cool 😎
It’s great to see a couple working together.
Its nice to have a second person on th splitting operation.
Yes indeed...but also the stacking, that's where it really is a help..lol
I think the sorting would be easier if the tractor was backed straight to the splitter. Good video!
My 15 year old grandson use to help me last year but doesn't want to do it anymore but my 12 year old granddaughter likes doing wood now just mention wood and she's ready to go lol!
Interesting this popped into my feed ten months after it was posted.
you do a lot of hard work . don't wear your self out . john
It's so wet up here In New England takes forever to dry wood. Plus standing dead rots in place. We have a lot doing just that.
New sub, green bay here, have land north of crandon so was looking for spliters.
Hello and welcome to the channel....appreciate you being a part of the Back 40 community. That splitter I have is built in Eau Claire...Wolfe Ridge Manufacturing.😀 👍 🍻

First time ever seeing a sleeveless polo
Sir, your director of activities is missing a lot of PPE...remember, once she gets hurt using the tool and she knows you could have avoided it, it will be a lot tougher to get her to help. Been down this road already.
Oak sure is nice firewood but damn it takes forever to dry!! Its always nice to be running out of room in the wood yard that means you have a lot of woood !!!!
Yeah the seasoning time for Oak does get to be long, even somewhat smaller splits...it's definitely a tough one to get ahead on....lol 😀👍🍻
How do you check the moisture in the wood? I have bought some that was sticky and thought wasn't cured but was told it was seasoned. Problem with buying wood is you get what you get.
👍👍👍
Nice teamwork.. Guess now when Amanda gets board she just may go split wood and you get stuck with the stacking.. Lol
LOL....I'm not sure she'll reach that level of being bored anytime too soon. 😀 👍 🍻
Oh MAN I’m in love with your splitter!!! I’ll go back through some of your older videos but in the meantime, is the splitter constructed the way it is or, are there mods you did to it? I’ve seen plenty of the round lift arms but that’s a sweet outfeed and the adjustable 4 way is amazing! Now you got me looking at my splitter to see if I can rework it!! New subscriber and, fellow Kioti guy!
Thanks for sharing!
Hey welcome to the channel and the Back 40...no mods done on that splitter...it's a Wolfe Ridge. It's built like a tank and yeah the adjustable wedge is great!
Appreciate ya watching! 👍 😀 🍻
The amazing Amanda is promoted to Vice President in charge of splitting! 💪💄🇺🇸
You need to find a source for some ibc cages. They save a bunch of moving time. Especially since you already have a tractor.
I have 18 month for oak in my head! :D nice team action you two got
My wife does all the splitting. It def makes for a smooth operation as I do all the cutting.
But... does she look good in skimpy shorts ? LOL !
I'm kidding. My wife puts me to shame when it comes to lifting and hauling, it's nice to have a partner who is not afraid of hard work especially when I only have 25% lung function, I can lift but only for short periods so she takes up the slack.
@@rotattor she absolutely does! But she’s smart enough to wear pants while working and we don’t make clickbait videos. I prob should start using her though lol.
@@RiverValleyAcres well it seems to be common thing these days having the wife dress with less for more views, ( more breasts less pride i find ) but for some it is a business and sex sells.
One of the off grid channels I watch made me laugh when he said it was shameful to pimp out your wife for views ! Lol !
@@rotattor I can’t do that to my wife lol. I had to unfollow one of them off the grid channels because that’s all the guy did.
Nice work! Luv that splitter; and your teamwork.
Btw, I tend to avoid the poplar for firewood due to creosote mess it creates. I guess for an outdoor boiler it would not be a concern. What are your thoughts on poplar?
I mostly throw the poplar in the Recreational burning pile for outdoor fire pits and campfires. Makes good wood for bundles as well cuz once dry its nice and light weight. Not much heat value, but good for sitting around watching burn in the backyard...lol 👍 😀 🍻
🔥👍🤠
What kind of wood is popal are you talking about tulip popular?
I like your new video the moming you and your wife did a good jop
What kind of outdoor wood stove I should get for my house we have a inside wood stove but it makes a mess in the house
I'm not sure...don't know too much on the wood stoves or even outdoor wood boilers. Boilers tend to use a LOT of wood but also help with not dealing with the mess inside. Boilers can also be a bit spendy now with all the new regulations put on them with needing emission controls/gasification
Ok good night too you guys
Careful, the boss woman will want a share of the profits 😁🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
If you’re going to keep making firewood videos but only sell at your driveway stand you’re going to need a bigger wood lot or you might have to start selling by face cord or cord or it (your wood lot) will be at maximum capacity by the end of summer
.
#AmazingAmanda did a stellar job once again.
I've thought about that, but don't wanna mess with deliveries. If all else fails I'll just feed it to the boiler, any and all wood will always find a home there...hahahaha 😀 👍 🍻
Good job 40couple. Does this mean she gets the youtube cash now? We all know the thumbnail was reason we all clicked right. Lol.
Hahahahaha it's a good thing I negotiated a set rate into her appearance contract! 😀 👍 🍻
Back 40 Firewood just action shots work well. You don’t need to turn into a fashion photographer. We all know all that work eats into the margins and we don’t need another negative Nancy about the hobby/work lol
Would the oak dry quicker if you protected it from rain and ground moisture?
It might a little, but the rain really isn't too big of an issue, it'll shed that right off...and I have all of it stacked up off the ground on pallets. Oak just seasons slow.
Try a 3 months test, put some known moisture in the dry, and measure in 3 months, protected and not?
Young man please get at left put on your sweater you can do it for around $500 it's worth every dime and you don't pick self up with your back please take care your back mind pretty sore and I'm in my sixties with still split wood in enjoyment and old would hound for you haha James T North Carolina
Are they a a certain kind of wood you like to work with or look for that Burns better ?
My preference of wood to both split & burn is Red Oak. Splits easy and puts out good heat! 😀 👍 🍻
Ty
Hey brother how do? Glad to see family working together creating a great bond with your kids is very important nice stack of wood brother keep up great work shifty.check your email tonight
Thanks...got your email. 😀 👍 🍻
@@Back40Firewood yes sir
Hey bro I love your channel...been watching it for some time....only subscribed now sorry for that....what log splitter are you operating with ....🤘
Hey Norman...thanks, appreciate it. Both watching and the sub. I'm running the Wolfe Ridge 28 Ton Compact Commercial model. It's just a beast of a machine...coming up on the 3rd year with it. 👍😀🍻
@@Back40Firewood awesome man 💪🍻
Dang I been splitting firewood with the wrong helper all along!! Jk who am I kidding. I split by myself.
Amanda you did a great job, Dan you could be in trouble I see Amanda taken over the channel, I enjoyed the video, getting wood for free is a win win for you and the tree guys, he dose not have to pay to Dump it, i have noticed dead trees standing too long will gain MC (water) they will soak up water in some cases. Have Fun and Stay Cool
hahahahahaaha...I'm not so sure about taking over the channel, or wait....if that means she'll be doing more of the work & I'll just film it, then YES! lol
messing with amanda again she is gonna kick your ass man
B40.... Your wife runs the splitter better than you do ...LOL Great job
LOL...yeah no kiddin, especially since it was her 1st time running it! 😀 👍 🍻
Amanda is gorgeous but so tiny but capable.
Popple, same as poplar?
Sounded like my last name Poppele
Greg Poppele
I think it is Big Toothed Aspen or Cottonwood.
Yep, I've just always called it Popple, but it's Popular
You are correct @Old Man Fred. I thought and was told Poplar but it's actually Cottonwood...finally got to splitting some of it up and, yep...good ole stringy & smelly Cottonwood....lol
Popple is popular and it is in the aspen family. Some may think it is a soft wood but it is considered hard wood.
Amanda………….fabulous legs!
I really do not get the lever layout..
Why is the pusher lever the 3rd farthest lever away from the operator. It's the one most used and just about every video the operator has to do a weird arm hand over the 2 other levers. I might be crazy but I would like the pusher the lever the closest to me. My choice would be it reversed with the log lift the farthest lever from the operator the wedge in the middle and the pusher close to me so I can easily work it.
So am I crazy 🤪
They ain't many wives who got there with her husband split for wood all day long she is a diamond in the rough
It is amazing how women can work with wood and not get all covered with dirt and we men just touch the stuff and get filthy.
LOL....I know! I come in with sawdust and chips in my pockets, dirt on my pants & shirt....she doesn't even look like she's been outside...hahaha 😀 👍 🍻
need a super split seems to be slow
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤩🤩🤩🤩✌
You have a good looking daughter
lol...well actually that's my wife. 😀 👍 🍻
Amanda needs safety shoes
Yeah she'd been looking for some, hard to find decent ones. 😀 👍 🍻
Hard to find American made shoes. Ariat are Chinese.
How does that wood smell I smell my wood to
Oh I apologize i notice you do have one please use it take care of your back
She’s doing great , but a faster splitter >>> they’re out there .
Is Amanda your wife or daughter?
Do you let your daughter do all the splitting ?
lol....actually that's my wife. 😀 👍 🍻
iwish i could put my splitter on u tube it would yours look like a toy
My wife doesn’t let me do that to my shirts. She’s all about gun control I guess or prefers concealed carry.
Not many women will work like that with their husbands so congrats. Now just buy her some work boots, broken feet really suck!
All that stacking and playing with the wood is a waste of time.....its proven that 2 cord sized piles dry just fine after 6 months you tarp the pile
Depends on the wood...Oak stacked can take 2 years. Ash in a loose pile will do fine cuz it's pretty low moisture wood to begin with. I put Poplar, Maple, & Basswood in a loose pile last year and it was a disaster. Moldy wood in the center and not dry at all...sizzled when burning. Just lots of factors...size of splits, size of pile, type of wood...etc.
Oonu wear safety glasses, and proper boots, wood chips can bore thin rubber slip ons. Nuh want any of oonu get hurt, an traumatize likkle boss man.
