I was 14 years old when Outkast first album dropped. I used to always wonder who Rico Wade was. Reading album credits back in the day was very important to me. The dude was a genius. That Dungeon Familly sound is so legendary.
STOP IT!!! He helped change HIP HOP and World rhythm!! Please don't minimize the Dudgeon ! (Not aimed at you) Im soooooo tired of my fellow KINGS not showing love until one of us GRADUATES. Rico Sleepy and Ray .......... Salute!!
Last Memorial Day, I was in Wayfield Foods getting ready to BBQ lol and I ran into Rico Wade as we were both getting our seasonings. He was in there, ashy legs, shorts and flip flops 😂 and I said " Ain't you Rico Wade ?!!" We had a great conversation as he had done some production for some of my peoples back in the day. He remembered them, was so cool, so humble and such a gentleman. I am honored to have been able to have that conversation and taking the opportunity to tell him to his face my appreciation for what he did for our camp, his contributions to the world and for helping bring forth those songs that I (we) just didn't just LISTEN to but LIVED TO !! Rest In Paradise 👑
I’m Dungeon Family all the way and I’m from New Orleans Cash Money Ville. Classic, timeless music is when it’s 20, 30, 40 years old and beyond and it’s still sounds new, make you feel good… it’s Dungeon Family music as a whole
i literally seen him two weeks ago at phipps plaza .. locked his keys in the car . i said hey "you a legend bro, i know who you are, i regret not taking a picture with the legend
OutKast and Goodie Mob first albums made you want to visit ATL or move to Atlanta,no matter where you were from or lived their music took you to Atlanta. RIP to Rico Wade it still Ain't no thing but a chicken wing 🙏🙏🙏
I remember Rico and I worked at Headland/Delowe Plaza. He worked at Lamontas I worked at Winn Dixie. He always said he was make his music dream come true and he did. Big ups to Rico and RIP King.
I remember me and my friends skipped school the day ATLiens was released and walked to the music store, and we all bought the cd/cassette tape.....RIP Rico Wade
This one hurts, Rico and The entire Dungeon really helped give the city a voice. I remember watching Playa's Ball for the first time and seeing the Decatur sign and the ATL jerseys and being so excited because this was home. This is the first time I remember seeing a video and it being relatable to where I'm from. Prayers up for Rico's family, friends, the city of Atlanta, and the state of GA.
I bought OutKast Debut Album in Cali. Drove down from Seattle Washington and snagged it at a Tower Records in LA. That Video fueled the buzz in the West Coast as well.
RIP to a REAL LEGEND, not just in the south, but in the ENTIRE GAME! He gave us the Dungeon Family, which gave us Goodie, Kast, and Pluto! All game changers! Condolences to the family, and to all the members in the Dungeon! 🙏🙏🙏
My deepest sympathy and prayers to Rico Wade family, organizednoise, goodiemob, outkast, killer Mike and the whole dungeon family …definitely a tough loss for not only ATL but Georgia 😢 Rico Wade is an ATL legend🕊️🙏🏻👑
I couldn't believe it ! I had to double check. He was the sound of Atlanta the whole organized noize production gave Atlanta it's sound. He will be truly missed but never forgotten. Rest in paradise Rico wade 🙏
I've known Rico for many years. I chilled with him for years. I recorded at the studio and hung out with him for many years. All the bro's over there were super cool. Rico was actually a good guy. Never hurt anyone. No ego. He loved to laugh, smile, and have fun. He was a handsome dude. Very smooth. Stand up guy. He wasn't judgmental. He allowed me to be at his house when I came from a different rap crew, he didn't care, he treated me like a friend. At this moment, I feel like a part of ATL just died. He and Ray and Pat, gave ATL Rap credibility. Before Organized, nobody took ATL rappers seriously when it came to lyrics. Rico and them created groups that no other coast could deny. I still remember the last time I spoke to Rico. He was very positive, as always. I'm grateful that I had the opportunity to hang out and chill with ATL'S biggest legend. To his kids, your dad was great even before you all walked earth. To the rest of his family, thanks for giving us Rico. RIP TO THE LEGEND RICO WADE.
When you seen him talking at that table and them piano keys come in was classical was definitely more influential than the source awards quote. Create in peace Rico. 🕊🙏🏾🎹🥁🎼
Truly appreciate this segment. The way you guys described the vibes about when The DF dropped in the early 90's brought back a lot of memories. RIP Rico.
Outkast debuted on the 93’ LaFace Christmas CD with Player’s Ball. The jingle bells in the background and the couple of Christmas references without saying Christmas was pure genius! I was hooked. Then Southernplayalistic dropped in ‘94 and not only changed the game, but changed the world forever by kicking the door open for the Dungeon Family!🔥
The Most Important Thing I Regret With Rico's Passing Is That We Never Took The Opportunity To Honor Him And Deliver His Flowers During His Journey On This Planet He Deserved To Know What He Meant To Us Atlanta Represents Hope Change And Opportunity And Greatness And They Put It Down So The South Would Have Reason To Aspire And Now Let's Take It Further R.I.P Rico 🙏🏿

Fla Boy, hip hop junkie that moved to A in 1994. The pride we all had being from the South that had a crew that took no back seat to ANY region sonically, lyrically, stylewise, gamewise, etc. When I knew they were REAL DEAL and gonna really pop...I was in Chicago for the Taste in 94....and met a gang of cats from Denver...they were bumping it harder than I was at the time, and I overlooked Crumblin Erb. I'm like...yall boys on this out there?? Then in Chicago...every car was banging Outkast hard af. Matter of fact, my homeboy from Chi was the 1st one of us that was on Players Ball. Move to Atl later that year, and LA dudes I was hanging around were on the joints hard. Then of course, NY niggas couldn't deny it...I remember being at a show at the old Warehouse and YZ was like, "Where is Organized Noize son... The word Icon is is overused, but this is a legend. Ole boy would be in Earwax, clubs, all over the city...and all these cats were down to earth, no bodyguards and encourages. Rico Wade and Organized Noize changed my life and was my soundtrack throughout the mid 90s and beyond. Every time I got a CD and saw 'produced by Organized Noize' I knew I was gonna get something that sounded superb and would speak to me. Well done. You both perfectly described Rico's impact and legacy, amid the shock that still sits with us all. I particularly appreciate the comments about his natural leadership, and how that made so many others gravitate to him. I have always been in awe of how Rico was able to articulate his vision with such clarity- something most artists struggle with greatly- and then bring it to life with the people he always knew were the right ones for the job. Rico Wade was a genius on par with the greatest producers in the entire history of recorded music.
As a Grady baby I understand the immense impact this man had on the city. The founder of the Dungeon Family!! This man started a movement that would last decades and turn out city into one of raps greatest hubs
From Society of Soul, all the way up, the dungeon fam saved me. They came as i was about to turn 18 in southside Chicago, at a time that young adulthood presented me the fork in the road. 💯

Love what you said here 😢
Rico helped make the sound for Atl. Here in NC we was raised up by Organized Noize
Man from Georgia born and raised. I've never met Rico but the news shocked and hit me. RIP 🙏🏾 Rico .
Rico made himself stand out by not taking any of his artists' publishing rights.
More than that...He galvanized them all. He made them family by the way he treated everyone in the Dungeon.
