Are you the actual Kate Pierson? Because everyone has heard the story of the flaming volcano in 1976 when you decided to form a band. But I would love to hear how you knew how you first met each other.

I almost didn't go Wednesday as I was clear across town, and my $181 fifth row ticket was free to me. After viewing your video I decided I wasn't going. However no one else on the entire internet agreed with you so I went, it was a blast! They were there again tonight, many missed the show as the roads were raging rivers, happy Labor Day!

I had the what I think was an honor years ago 2007ish working on the bands hair 3 separate times , and I grew up with them and it was nerve wracking but they were on all occasions awesome they were kind and engaging of us working on them, just down to earth ,Cindy was sooooo nice ! Watched them at all three events and they brought down the house their almost a cult band ..either taste the frosting or devour the whole cake!

I went to the show yesterday. I was on the same boat as you knowing only the 3 hits (and I also the Flinstones songs that I loved) and I was able say I got +3 over of realy songs I loved than I discovered. And probably 25% knew pretty all the songs (minus one) like the Party Out of Bounds song. But you did a very good honest review. I was disappointed that you guys are 2 mores songs than us in 2024 - still felt such a short set. Respect for this huge historial bond.

Sold my ticket to this show to go to the VGK game :)
Saw them when the were on their tour last fall tho (Also in the Venetian and the setlist looked similar). Always a great time.
Hopefully they'll be doing Vegas for years to come now that they are done touring.

And to answer some of your questions:
      1) Their farewell tour ended last year. This Vegas residency (both legs of it) and some one-off shows/fesivals are what they are doing this year.
      2) The quirky science fiction themed stuff (or straight up nonsense) basically *is* what the band is. It's not really Wierd Al- it's more Devo/Talking Heads/TMBG
      3) This band is getting well up there in age. Kate is 75, Fred 72, Cindy 66. Keith retired from touring and Ricky is long dead :( They still sound great but the shows aren't anywhere near as energetic as they were decades ago.
      4) The setlist for this residency and recent tour was heavy on songs from their last 2 albums (Good Stuff and Funplex). And they lose 75% of the crowd when they play that stuff. I loved both those- but the vast majority of folks who know Love Shack/etc have never heard a single track off of them.

It's an awesome genuine review from YOUR perspective that itself speaks volumes. Music is 100% one of the arts and to each their own. Qwerky IS the word for one of MY most favorite bands, EVER. HOWEVER, as you clearly stated, they are NOT for everyone
I was engulfed in their music during the early late 70's, early 80's in Socal at the height of KROQ when they first released their 1st 2 BEST albums that defined my life during that era. Lucky to have seen them at the Hollywood Bowl of all places on the Wild Planet tour 10/8/80, a combo new wave, Hollywood, Halloween event that you had to be there to "know" experience!
A REAL change from the corporate album formula stuff that offered an off the wall direction in music to the listening public. I traveled to Kansas Ciry, MO at that time and approached the DJ to put on some REAL dance music other than the disco that was dominating at that time or rock, and he was oblivious clueless.
More into blues, jam, and jam grass recently since then and always up for a great rock band, but I can't sit still to when I hear the 1st few notes of Planet Claire, There's a moon in the Sky, Lava, 52 Girls or 6060842 and so MANY more!! Personally, other than the blatantly Qwerky tunes like Private Idaho or Quiche Lorraone, how could ANYBODY with a dancing bone in their body not get their groove on? You are 100% correct, I am one of those who knows EVERY word of every song to the nth detail of each song.
Same deal for me with Grateful Dead and their offspring bands, Phish and MFBS recently. I'd be fully game ror another show after 44 years, but not for multi-night runs that the previous 3 bands offer with no repeats rver and a huge catalog of material that I STILL attend at the drop of that, like Phish tonight and tomorrow, 4/19 and 4/20 in Vegas! What brought me to post this review with a conflict of them playing during my visit here, motivating me to consider a return trip to see them in Vegas in November later this year or catch them on tour closer to home.

exactly the best way of doing this for cash flow as a oldies and the fact is you can get your dollars stolen from your account to Attend a B-52's concert in a last couple decades and you are not seeing a new arrangement of the list of the order and what I am saying is that I have a Facebook group that is fastest growing in members and the fact is you can get nothing from a new show but love shack at 70 years old with nothing to show the talent that was very unique and lost in the monotony i walk out in the 2004 show at private Idaho in the same place as 10 previous years

I love the B-52's, especially the first 2 records. I've been dancing all night long on this music. During my holidays in the US this year I checked what it meant to go to Vegas to see this concert (seeing the them only once in Europe). It was very expensive and troublesome to make it happen. Now I see the coverage and I'm happy I did not push it. Artists should know when to stop. Some make it happen (the Stones!) but the B-52's should have stopped a decade ago.

I find it strange that someone who considers himself a music reviewer listened ONLY to this band’s top hits. Yeah the B52s are quirky. They are beloved for that quality. Why on earth would that surprise as an “expert??”
I would imagine 6:26 that you would find most “non-hit” songs by many contempory artists as well. That’s your job: to be familiarized with the less popular tracks as well as the hits.

But this fellow, JoeInVegasReviews, is not talking about then, he is not talking about now.
Also, I WAS there; my spouse and I have been dancing to Love Shack for 40 years. Nevertheless, some of those beloved bands are not what they were. In fact, some are out-right pathetic because they have not evolved artistically at all. Devo and the Red Hot Chili Peppers (I was “there” for the Chili Peppers, too), are two that come to mind right away. Watching senior citizens or paunchy, approaching-senior citizens perform on a stage, doing the same things and the same music just like they’re still the youngsters they were is just, well, sad.
David Byrne, for instance, is still cool because he’s evolved over the decades. Prince evolved. Springsteen evolved. Cyndi Lauper evolved. The list goes on.
If people enjoy performers for nostalgia’s sake, more power to them, but it is fair for others to not put as much value in only nostalgia.
