PicKell is a strong advocate for ahead of the 2025 season. Let us know what you think of the Venables decision in the comment section below!

Not to mention 71% returning production on the OL. That’s one of the tops in the SEC for 25. Albeit, it wasn’t good production from 24, but it gives OU a fighting chance! Last season, OU was ranked like 15th in the SEC in that same category, so I’ll take it as an OU fan.

Well, I guess I’m one of the few people who were more relieved when we didn’t get Knowles as DC. I was really concerned that he would change things up when BV had these guys playing excellent defense! I mean, defense was not our problem last year! I just know that BVs defense is hard to learn and I didn’t want another guy coming in here and changing things. I have full confidence in coach V to build a defense.

I'm all for it, you said it best, he has rings from being a DC! The problem is that he's TOO focused on the defense. He needs to put a little more faith into our offense and fix what's broken. Our defense is where it needs to be and BV has to see thru it now and make sure Arbuckle fixes the offense. We ironed out the creases so no more excuses!!! Schedule is tough but it's the road to success as long as we win!! BOOMER!!!!

I mean i get it go out on your own shield but hes the head coach hes not the defensive coordinator. He need to hire someone so he can focus on coaching the team not just the defense. Im a texas fan and i want sark to do the same thing for our offense, hire someone you can bounce ideas off of. You mention sark and kiffin as hc/coordinator, they also havent won a natty. If ryan day can put his ego aside and hire chip kelly to share some burden so can venables. Imagine if saban had never hired kirby because saban is a defensive guy and doesnt need help on that side. This is a red flag for the program (I should say another red flag, because there have been many warning signs in the last 12 months). Are there some coaches who can handle the day-to-day responsibilities of a head coach and call plays on one side of the ball? Yes, of course. Are they mostly offensive play-callers? Yes. Is BV one of the coaches who can balance all this without consequences for the team as a whole? No, no he's not. I think next season we will end our streak of bowl appearances and they will fire BV. And don't get me wrong, I would LOVE to be wrong about this, but I don't think I am. Been a fan since the 80's and will continue to be a fan, but in my opinion they needed to move on from BV after this season. Cut our losses. Lick our wounds and try to rebuild. Waiting for next season just puts us yet another year behind.

    Here is a fact
OU's offense turned the ball over × 3 in the 2nd
    quarter against Texas they scored
every time easy when you have 8yards to go scooped and score
They did the same against South Carolina
    The defense did their job

I don’t see the problem an Offensive minded HC needs a DC he can turn loose and trust and a Defensive minded HC needs an OC he can trust and turn loose Venables needs to make sure he has the right OC and then focus on HIS defense.

So many of my fellow OU fans seem to think that BV’s game management has cost us wins, which couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s offseason and u happy sooner fans are quite the fit throwers these days and every little issue is overblown and over narrated. EVERY coach in both the NFL and College constantly make game decision and game management mistakes. OU fans are acting as if BV should be an exception to this fact. They keep talking about Marcus Freeman having a guy on the sideline and that will take care of all the problems? Freeman had some bad mistakes even in the playoffs and that’s with a guy standing by his side with one responsibility and that’s to maximize the management opportunities that arise. BV has made game management decisions that have helped us win games, 2023 OU vs Texas as an example. There isn’t one game that we lost due to BV’s game management. I just disagree wholeheartedly that this is anywhere close to as big of a problem that so many OU fans seem to think it is. We are frustrated and embarrassed and want different results. That we can agree on but that being said, OU fans need to chill on the negativity and maybe need to start pouring in some positive energy towards the program because there is a TON to be excited about.
Every OU fan should want BV coaching in 26’ as that would mean we had a good year. So why not support the team and program rather than just constantly whining and bitching and embellishing every little issue that has gone on. Last season 8s over. BV’s first season was 3 years ago. It’s time to move on Sooner fans and focus on 25’ because that’s what matters.
There are too many legitimate things to be excited about for this next season for everyone to keep hanging on to every little issue they think BV or the program has. It’s exhausting and has even gotten to the point of embarrassing at times. It’s tough being an historically elite program who is the winningest program in modern history to go through struggles like this. We have beeen so spoiled over the years with our success that people are literally losing their minds over 2 bad years out of the last 26? So yeah let’s move on and focus on the good and get excited about a team that has all of the pieces it needs to have a successful season. Is it a NC roster? Probably not but no one thought we had a championship roster the last time we won a NC ( let’s forget how long ago that was ) but we do have a roster that is capable of 10 wins in the SEC and if something wrong could happen it did in 24’. We won’t suffer those kinds of injuries across the board on offense this year and we have a ton of returning starters as well as the #1 QB out of the portal and a great new young OC.
How can a fan not be excited about these things and would rather spend their time bitching about BV’s game management instead? Miserable people like to wallow in misery I guess.
