Skiing off the NISEKO PEAK!

It's not often in Hokkaido that you get a bluebird ski day. Nearly 15m of average snowfall means there aren't too many days like this.
While there wasn't the usual amount of overnight powder, this beautiful day still presented an excellent line for some swooping, wide turns off the peak of Mount Annupuri in Niseko, Japan.
At the top the single seat Grand Hirafu King #4 Chair (commonly known as the "Pizza Box"), you'll find the backcountry Gate #3. A short 15-20 minute hike out this gate will get you to the summit of this amazing mountain. From here there are a few options as to where you can ride.
This particular line down the East Face takes you back towards Hanazono, one of four interconnected resorts which make up Niseko United. This line is excellent multiple, quick laps early in the morning. Other options lead to Annupuri resort or out into the backcountry.
