I think we all know that there are people out there who have it worse, but when you are in the middle of your own crisis it doesn’t really help you unless you can learn something from their situation that will help you. And no it doesn’t make you feel better because now you feel as though you have no right to be upset about your situation. I hope people will just stop saying that. If they don’t know what to say I wish they would just acknowledge that they don’t know what to say to help. A simple “I wish there was something I could say that would help you get through this but you know you can always talk to me and I’ll just listen.”
And of course, there are people who have it better. Does it mean that you can’t be happy too? I don’t think so.
People should stop invalidating other people’s pain just because others have it worst.

We also find out that she cuts herself, that her and her brother don't get along, and that she's left alone at 12 to babysit her younger siblings. I did an it almost ruined my life. I was able to rebuild the massacre i turned my life into but it took years. I don't know if you've gotten help since you were in that bad head space but I'm glad you're doing better now. Even if things go south again later just don't ever EVER let yourself turn to substance use. I cannot fathom ever not being protective over them even though they’re both almost in their 30s now. Our responsibilities as being the oldest will probably never end and that is perfectly fine with me. Even though our siblings might drive us crazy some times…. The mere thoughts of doing something like this would never cross my mind. There is something definitely wrong with this girl.. to have that much hate and anger towards her brother… the demeanor changes, her only showing interest in what’s going to happen to her rather than being concerned about her brother, the fact that she hid the knife after the fact.. shows something way more sinister than her just doing this without knowing what she was doing. I hope she can get the help that she needs… but that poor mama. My heart rips to pieces for her.

You idiots in the comments saying you wish you could comfort her and hug her or “she didnt know what she did, she’s only 12” are so pathetic. At 12, I fought my siblings quite a lot and I used to take medication for my mental problems but I never once thought about murdering my siblings out of pure malice and even worse, she gets rid of the murder weapon indicating that she knows what she did was wrong. Also, any normal person would be asking about their sibling and regretting their actions and wishing they could take it back, but no, all she cares about are the consequences she will face. I hope she goes to jail. She is very scary and she seems VERY manipulative at just 12. I don’t want to know how she’d be later on. Also, in my opinion, the cops were way too nice go her considering she just stabbed her younger brother to death.

they see this girl and go 'oh yeah, i could've very easily done the same thing and i want people to pity me' (after they stabbed someone to death)
so when you see comments like that, that is where their heads are at. they are more willing to empathize with a murderer, who killed her own brother, than the 9 year old brother who woke up to a knife being stabbed into him by his big sister.

She's just murdered her brother with a knife and then is having a calm conversation with the officer about whether she's going to jail or juvie. This is within *13minutes* of police an ambulance arriving. So her brother is lying a pool of blood at that very moment fighting for his life.
I hardly believe I have to spell it out to you. She went an got a knife (Premeditated). Used the knife (Murder 1st degree). Officers arrive and the girl admits guilt and is arrested but exclaims "Are the handcuffs necessary" and she's "A good child". While sitting metres away from her dying brother she's worried about Her fate (Admission of guilt and aware her actions were wrong so self defence or insanity is out the window).
So tell us what do you think they were having a chat about in the patrol car on the way to the station?
I think once she got the answers she was looking for she remained quiet or they'd of shown what was said in this video.
