Just a tip for the dung spreader, once the rotors can be seen from the cab start and close the door down as the rotors can fire stones back towards the cab
If it needs drainage do it now, when the drains are working do a reseed to cover up the mess from doing the drainage work. To stop your tractor getting covered in 💩when spreading keep the slurry door just above the 💩in the spreader, I had a stone come in the back window so I learnt my lesson the hard way.
The algorithm sent me the interview you did with the "limited slip differences" lads. It's very humorous and gives a good insight into your way of thinking. But poker theory would be better than game theory when applying theory to farming finance.
Just a note if you clean a machine and then spray with silicone spray, the difference it makes when cleaning after is unreal, just a side note from a none farming viewer also Love your vids
If you’re going to reseed that ground now I would recommend drilling the seed into the ground. Sowing the seed on top of the ground this late in the year you won’t get a great strike. With the seed in the ground it’ll be warmer and get a decent strike. Seen it a few times with late sown sees that was broadcast ontop and got a poor strike
Great Video Andrew, when ever I view your videos, i always compare our pasture based grazing systems (in NZ) with your shed based systems, NZ's systems are progressively getting more pad or shed based which is not straight forward! Thanks for sharing
Andrew, you're Ok up until the end of September for reseeding. Maybe pull in a contractor to plough as its the slow job, even though it wont be as good as your own ploughing.
maybe try to find some one to do the ploughing and take away the bulk of the hours - I would do it but I only have a 43hp McCormick International and a 2 score plough 😆
Do you find spreading muck at this time Of year is eneifical for the grass coming next spring? We are too wet to get on from October to about June to spread so I am deciding to bite the bullet and spread muck this week coming but the cows wont be back on it again till the spring
personally i think your over reacting......it's not such a big issue to have a bit of poaching in the autumn it will have the winter to recover and next spring you will be wondering what all the fuss was about. as for putting up new buildings back at your main farm .......i'm not so sure that would be the right thing .......if you've got off land i think it's handy to have buildings a yard and silage clamp. otherwise your always moving cattle back and forth from off ground for winter and summer grazing and t.b testing etc.........stop being so fussy........be gratefull for what you've got.......nothing is ever perfect🤔🤔
How about mole-ploughing it now (when the ground is at it's driest) to burst open that hard pan (ideally with a dozer / uphill) plough late next year when moles are firmly established Aeration Creation 🪱 🐛

Very good suggestion!

Jesus Andrew, you do love your re-seeds:))))
I have a lot of damage needs fixed after the last 12 months!

Would you not consider upgrading the facilities you have on your out farm eg slurry tower and extend the cattle shed to make it more efficient?

Thanks for the info!

Would you do a video on you ideal shed design, why is the outfarm sheds better for stock
When I'm building another one sure.

Good idea!
Good stuff
We drill westerwold rye grass mid October after maize and grows like mad
Brilliant
So your process is. Spray, plough, powerharrow twice, lime, powerharrow, roll, seed, roll
Yep!
Do the draining now if your going to re-seed it anyway
Yep, planning for next week to start the drains
maybe try to find some one to do the ploughing and take away the bulk of the hours - I would do it but I only have a 43hp McCormick International and a 2 score plough 😆
I think that's a good idea, should be easy to get help at that time of year also.
Lad if u do too much resending ull make slop on top and under nith it will be hard and the tractors and animals will always pocht the ground
Taught the fertilizer ban after the 15 Sept would prohibit the possibility of doing a reseed?
Who is gonna know you spread fert?
See comment below. 😅 Your allowed to spread potassium and lime all year round.
Do you find spreading muck at this time

Honestly we just need to get rid of it, never factor it into my nutrient management
👍
why don't you put a weeping wall slurry pit in
I have no idea what that is. 😅
Great idea reseed more productive
Is your outfarm farm away from the homefarm?
5km
The inner turmoil of a farmers mind @20:37. Does your brain ever get to switch off?
I watch some really nerdy boring stuff on UA-cam, that helps. 🤣
No reason not to reseed with Italian ryegrass end of Sept
Just imagine the quality and quantity of the silage next season
99.9% off your issues.is over stocking
Pretty much. That's the result of pushing output from the biggest limiting factor which is land.
I take it you rent the out farm?
Nope

Well, thanks for sharing even if we disagree. 😅👍

my cows, my tractor, my jcb, all mine but daddy actually does the work
Spot on. 👌
All mine but daddy bought it even more to the point
What a jealous that you are..
@TractorTorque not 1 bit jealous I can assure you of that
He doesn't mind as long as everyone keeps watching😂😂😂
How dare you assume that calfs gender😅😅😅
Sorry... The calf is a heshe

plough late next year when moles are firmly established
Aeration Creation 🪱 🐛
The issue is just certain spots, so I don't think mole drains are needed tbh, good idea for other fields mind you.
