Hello! I just wanted to say thank you for making this audiobook series! For my AP Literature class, we had to read this book, and your narration made it so much easier to read! I've thoroughly enjoyed listening to your storytelling, and it's made me genuinely love this book. Thanks again!
Wow. Thank you. I wish I had found your recordings sooner. I’d been listening to a different person for a while, and I’d been really not liking the book or narration. I don’t know for sure if it was your reading that made me like it or if the book just got better, but I am really happy to have completed it now. I almost read the last part to myself, but I felt like I wanted to hear your read it to me! Thank you times infinite. 🎉
Greetings from sunny Florida. I usually prefer reading physical books, but since becoming a stay at home mother of two toddlers, it seems I never sit down long enough anymore to do so. I have carried you in my pocket with my earbuds in for the last two weeks, and it’s been such a pleasure. A massive “thanks” to you for taking the time to share your gift of narration so the rest of us may enjoy this work. It was wonderful! I am eager to begin your next series of recordings.
This was so wonderful! I enjoyed this book and was able to get through it because of you. The music became more and more wonderful. Thank you again for doing such a fantastic job at the reading.
Thank you so much for this series! I’ve never had such an engaging listen and occasional watch of an audiobook. If you ever decide to create content again I would really enjoy All Quiet on the Western Front, as that’s what’s next up for us. Once again, thank you so much for what you’ve put out and being the most captivating reader out there.
I finished the last ~15 chapters of East of Eden using this series. Thank you so much for taking the time to record and upload these videos. I hope with just a few sentences in a youtube comment that I can express enough gratitude for the many hours of effort!
Thank you so much for this beautiful narration, I fell completely in love with this book because of the way you read it. I particularly loved the way you voiced Lee and Abra.
greetings from california! thank you dr hibb for your lovely voice and for helping me make it through my very difficult ap literature class! you’ve helped me listen in a day what would take me a week to read, and what a lovely story it’s been. thank you thank you!
Thank you so much. I only listened to a couple of chapters every time I had a migraine and read the rest myself, but I greatly enjoyed it! Best wishes from Germany.
Thank you so much for reading East of Eden! I listened to it for close to a month while working out on the recumbent every morning and loved your voice, speed and artistic ability! I particularly enjoyed the different voices -- Lee was superb! :-) I would love to listen to more classics! Maybe Dickens or Twain or Thomas Mann?
Thank you so much for this. I had forgotten I needed to read the book for class and your videos helped tremendously. Great book and I greatly enjoyed the life you gave each of the characters especially Lee
Thank you so much for this.. what an incredible book.. I am now going to read the book, watch the film and research Steinbeck.. and listen to everything else you’ve narrated… “Timshel!” 💥
I would also like to show my gratitude that you took the time and read this book for us. Your reading added so much, and gave me even better experience of enjoying this book
Thanks so much for having us, Dr. Hibb! East of Eden was always a favorite of mine in school and now I was able to enjoy it all over again. The way you step into the characters feels so organic, it makes the listening experience effortlessly immersive. Looking forward to your other playlists! PS. Do you have a favorite character from EOE? I think mine was always Lee. 🍵
I’m super thankful for you reading this! You brought such life to all the characters. You made my car rides to work into a glimmer of narrative. This was one of the best readings I’ve heard of a book thus far. I enjoyed the book itself as well. Although it dragged along at times, it’s episodic feeling kept pulling me in with each new developing narrative or twist. Lee and Abra were such lovable characters and I think you really helped press that with your reading as well. Thanks so much again! I look forward to listening to your reading of another book.
Hi Dr Hibb, I want to write a brief message of appreciation. Just finished your reading of EoE, and thanks to you I discovered one of my new all time favs. I don’t have a lot of time for reading, so I listened to your recordings all through work. One problem I typically have with audio books is the reader just doesn’t follow through with the tonal shifts necessary to garner the listener’s attention. For me, this often fails to capture the meaning of a passage in the same way a reader could if they were physically reading the book. Your readings are absolutely amazing. I found myself crying, laughing, and invested not only in the book, but in your interpretation of the characters. Don’t stop what you’re doing! Looking forward to viewing your other recordings 😊
What a wonderful journey your reading took me on. I am grateful for your voice and the effort you put in on this. I thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed this book. Thank you ☺️
Interesting suggestion, Mariana. But my rule is not to read anything I’ve read before, so the Goldfinch is out. But I’ll get back to more classics soon. Thank you for writing
I would really like to encourage you to face those dangers and be brave, because all of your voices are extraordinary and very pleasant to listen to, but it is, of course, timshel ⚘🌱
Timshel is the.last word Adam spoke to his son Cal at the end of the book. According to Google this word means "the Hebrew word timshel-'thou mayest"-that gives a choice" Just trying out a new word 🙂
Thank you so much for reading this book!! East of Eden is my absolute favorite book of all time. I have another book suggestion: Legends of the Fall by Jim Harrison
What an experience and what a journey! This book gave me so much more than what initially I set out for! It brought me many tears as well, which was another surprise on my part.Your audiobook recordings helped me so much along this incredible journey! So thank you so much! Goodness I am so glad that I read this one. :) (edit ; like already mentioned in other comments, your Lee was exceptionally good!)
I enjoyed reading this following along with your voice while reading & listening while busy. it was soothing to listen but the last couple of chapters are so sad. Thank you so much for taking time of your day to record for us💕 PS if you don’t mind what do you think about reading Joseph and his friend a story of pennsylvania? If not could someone kindly recommend something like East of eden 😭 as soon as I get over it of course 🙏🏽
I can't understate how incredible your talent for this is. I hope you are aware that you could read audiobooks professionally, and be one of the best at it, genuinely. I absolutely loved listening to you read this entire book, and I even was so inspired by you, that I recorded myself reading over 20 chapters of East of Eden because I was curious and you made it sound like a lot of fun. When I did it myself, I realized how incredibly difficult it is to put so much life and emotion into the text and I constantly play your video to improve my own reading. Looking forward to listening to all of your narrations!
Sweet of you CritterMaster. Thank you. As you probably realise, I don’t rehearse, so the writing has to flow easily. A credit to the author. Fun for me, though. As a youth, I had a choice between the stage or medicine. So reading aloud, thanks to UA-cam, is a fun revisit to that alternative life
Thank you so much, Dr. Hibb! Excellent narration! I only wish you would have given your own thoughts on the book as a sort of epilogue :) This was my first step into Steinbeck's works and I hope you have the time to read "The winter of our discontent" some time in the future.
Hello! I just wanted to say thank you for making this audiobook series! For my AP Literature class, we had to read this book, and your narration made it so much easier to read! I've thoroughly enjoyed listening to your storytelling, and it's made me genuinely love this book. Thanks again!
Wow! Just wow! What a writer is that John Steinbeck!
And you sir, Mr. Steinbeck would approve the reading I’m certain, thank you sir.
You are very sweet, Huckleberry
Thanks for such a lovely and enthusiastic reading of this book Dr. Hibb! It's been keeping me company on the drive to work for months now.

Thank you friend for helping me keep my concentration reading this amazing book. I appreciate you greatly!

You did a fine job!
