Didn't know it was James Horner who scored this! Fantastic work as always, sir

something about old animation like this is so comforting yet explores some intense themes, like the iron giant, I definitely gotta check this one out, great vid !

I remember watching the sequel first on cinema and adored it. I was the sole viewer in the room! Disney was at work... After watching the original few years later, I found the sequel was much better. But overall it was a time when Spielberg was actively trying to become the next Walt Disney in animation, both in movies and television. Unfortunately he lacked the proper skills and vision for it when compared to his live action work and by the late 90s had dropped out of that endeavour.

The sequel was better ay, hmmm I might need to revisit in that case, I remember I liked it overall but I definitely didn't like it more- but I know quite a few people who to this day have only seen Fievel Goes West

Never saw this. I saw Anastasia, Land Before Time, Titan A.E and Secret of NIMH. If An American Tail is as dark as you suggest, I think I'd enjoy it.

It's definitely not as dark as Secret of Nimh for example, and maybe not even Land Before Time but in that case it's harder to judge
