Reviews:
"This episode is excellent from start to finish. The acting is superb on all levels. Little Joe is the first to get out of his barber chair after waiting two hours, to give it up to a gunslinger (Perry Lopez) who threatens his life. He does so, but then a Mexican shows he can't be bullied, takes the barber chair and is killed. His son comes to stay with the Cartwrights until relatives call for him to live with them in Mexico. An interesting trial ensues, and the slick lawyer gets the murderer and gang freed. Later when Little Joe returns and fights the men involved in the shooting, he lets the barber shave Perry Lopez head bald, and throws him out into the street for everyone to see. They start laughing, and Lopez is seen holding his head and feeling like the bug that he is. What a perfect ending. Recommended as a must see" Written by Norsin on IMDb.com
"This particular Bonanza episode deals with a very sharp defense attorney getting a coldblooded killer off. The attorney is John Archer and the killer is Perry Lopez.
Lopez and two sidekicks are a trio of nasty thugs who murder Alex Montoya in a barbershop on some really slight pretext. There's no doubt about that Lopez did it. Two eyewitnesses, the barber and another customer saw it. Little Joe Cartwright was in the barbershop, but one of the henchmen cold cocked him before the evil deed was done.
At trial, Archer discredits Michael Landon's testimony and then with a bit of skulduggery, discredits the other two witnesses and Lopez is free. This was around the time the Supreme Court was starting to reign in our police and our courts in making sure defendants got their due process. People like Lopez were starting to go free as a result.
The real story is how young Rafael Lopez deals with the death of his father. The Cartwrights, especially Little Joe, help the young man do just that. The real story is not the legal skulduggery, but how life sometimes hands you senseless tragedy and you just have to move on.
Of course this is a western so bad guys do get punished. Lopez does get punishment of a sort for that barbershop homicide.
The episode was one of Bonanza's best and seeing it today reminded me of how good it was." Written by bkoganbing on IMDb.com
"The story is amazing. A trio of strangers come into Virginia City and (after conking Little Joe on the head) they kill a man in a barbershop for not letting them cut the line into getting a haircut. The three men are all brought to trial and despite two witnesses (not including LJ) the men are declared innocent. Even a notion that they were not even the three men in the barbershop at the time is made. A very expensive attorney gets them off. Who paid for this lawyer? The bad trio did not look like they had much money. Why did Ben not use his own influence to try to get these men put into prison? What about the arrest when Sheriff Coffee picked them up? How about the fact that they could not seemingly account for where they were at the time of the murder? Ridiculous!" Written by smithbea on IMDb.com

I grew up with my Grandpa, watching Bonanza when I was younger and still love watching this great TV Show.❤
Ben really taught all of us growing up in the 60's and he was such a righteous father figure and a great actor!
Only as an actor
@@patrickkparrker413 Got some issues?
yeah, with a selfish son who won't give up his chair for a ,man in a hurry.
A fictional character raised you?
You realize he didn't really exist right?
I grew up watching Bonanza reruns. Now that I'm over 50, it's easy to forget what a great show it truly was. I watched this episode tonight -- the first Bonanza I've seen in at least 25 years -- and it served as a good reminder.
Great life lessons
Since I'm fifteen years older than you I got to watch them when they first came out, even though I'd like them then I get a lot more out of them now

A man's vanity is a powerful thing.
I use to hate my dad watching western shows EVERYDAY when I was growing up..now I’m addicted,..always better than the crap that’s on tv nowadays 👍
Same here
Funny how the ones that have to have a group to cover their arses, because they can't stand alone. And I love Ben's counsel, teaching his son's what's really right and true in the midst of so much emotional pain it almost seems unbearable, thank you to all the true father's in the world.
Watching these classic episodes brings back many found memories. I lived with my grandparents, andy grandma loved Bonanza. It came on a local station every weekday at 4 pm . We never missed an episode. That would have been mid to late 1970's. I now am a grandpa and I am shearing these quality times from the Cartwrights with my grandsons. Thanks for the upload
Cool. This is Daniel Terry. (my wifes channel). I grew up in the 70's too.
What I love about bonanza is the reality of life because ther are people like Duke Miller that exists today.
🎬❤️
And often evil does "win" and get away with it. However, doesn't mean you have to be evil.
I love this episode! It's one of the most creative ones I've seen. Most episode endings are to be expected, but this one definitely offered a twist at the end. I really enjoyed it. Thank you so much for posting it.

Wait just a second! How is it possible that every episode is the BEST episode! Thanks again for the uploads Gringo! Completed blown away by the excellent writing, direction and acting in every episode, every season!
lol, yes every episode has people saying it's their favorite
That's a very clever way to deal with a villain. Imagine being that vain. Little Joe and Hoss were my favorite characters, so any episode with them is like gold to me. Of course, I prefer them together. One of my favorite episodes was the pancake eating contest. I laughed so hard at Joe trying to keep Hoss from eating, before the contest. Thanks so much for the upload, Grjngo-Western Series! You're the best.
my favorites are also them, I love them separately and together
That's a mighty fine bald haircut 💇♂️ 😂
GOod episode! Morals, lessons, fight scene, and a happy ending with a nice laugh! Perfecto :)
Laugh?

Just one problem: somebody stop peeling all those damn onions!
Wish there were people like the Cartwrights among us.
There's very few of them, but there are some.

There are plenty. But social media focuses on the other type.

This without no doubt is my favorite episode way to go little Joe!😂😂😂
So there's some doubt.

One of the many great episodes of Bonanza
My grandma watches this a lot! She's amazing! Very lucky to be her descendant and granddaughter 😊

This episode is a Gem
One of the better westerns .
Family oriented fun watching NBC westerns like bonanza
That trip to Juarez and back would take about 4 1/2 months by wagon.. lol
I've never seen this one before. WOW...what an ending! I have to say that I wasn't expecting that.
I watch these when I do anything else on UA-cam. Makes you feel kind of young again
Totally takes you back to your childhood!
Favorite episode love little Joe Adam Ben great loving family
You forgot Hoss!
It was kind of the Cartwrights to bury Paco’s father in their front yard. Anyway...
Thanks for putting this episode up, Grjngo!
Yeah right by the drive way.
I think that was Paco's house...
Well, that would make sense then. 😊
Thank you for keeping the full intro. It adds to the show!❤❤
They should of shaved off both of his eyebrows too ! 😄
And a few other things!
They did him a favour, no place for pubic lice to hide now ;).
When i was in military i was "Marchsick" and in sick bay found a guy from my Platoon there his whole Body shaved, i ask him what happend and he told me he f... with a Streetwh... and got pubic lice , we called this lil "Friends" Bag Rats or Sailors on the Mast.
I like the few other things comment.
Joe sure had a quick temper.
🤣
Yes, I adore Joe as I do the rest of them, but he is something else. Good for Joe that he was raised by Ben because otherwise he would probably be a menace to society. Joe will snap off on you at the drop of a hat....sometimes I believe he has a slight 'tick' if you get my drift? Did you see the episode when he drew his gun on Ben?
He's the fastest shot

MY FAVORITE EPISODE MAN THEY DID IT WITH THIS ONE !
44:06 I love the expression on his face here, almost like he’s thinking, “Oh, I know just what to do with you.”
I'm not crazy about the laughter at the end. You've still got three dangerous guys out there, the sheriff is nowhere to be found and Joe and Paco have a long trip to Mexico.
Love hoss he's the best❤
Poetic Justice.
Those liers(lawyers), know that their clients are guilty as he'll and still get them off. Great episode as usual.

Grjno I enjoy your uploads. Of the bonanza episode, however this particular episode. Paints a picture of unjust it also paints a picture on justice, lying lawyers, fighting for murders that is guilty as sin. The unfortunately we still live now in the same world of the 1800 hundred justice of unjustified killings/ killers .
Mrs. Gwendolyn Pittman Tharpe,
Bonanza's my alltime favourite! And I had not seen this episode. Thanks!
Our pleasure!
delmarie - No it's not.
Such sweet horses.
I love this episode is one of my favorites
Interesting ending. But I wouldn't say it was the best. I like the funny ones best.
It kinda reminded me of Faerie Tale Theatre’s Snow White episode; the evil queen is punished by losing the ability to see her face in any and all mirrors; she literally goes insane. For somebody that vain, any punishment that involves badly altering their appearance will do the trick.
What a hair raising episode....

Great episode, I remember this when I was a kid.
This was a very enjoyable episode. A great fight scene! Even though they used those dumb hold your hands together punches that no one ever used in real life but always show up in westerns. Hmm maybe some other shows. Didn't Captain Kirk fight like that? Why you. Let me hold my hands together and telegraph my super double punch by winding up for two seconds. That'll show you sodbuster!
Awesome to hear that, thanks for watching! 🤠👌🎬🍿
Captain Kirk was "THE MAN". He had sex with a rock! He could do anything. Lol.
So true... looks so stupid.
Tony Manero did that in Saturday Night Fever.
And they very rarely tried to block or dodge
Amazing episode!
The old man has some nerve calling Joe a coward, but I see he wasn't willing to do anything is damn self. He wasn't even trying to at leas plan a sneak attack. He's not to old to do that. The nerve of him.
I loved this episode!

A little touch of the Twighlight Zone and a splattering of West Side Story.
Duke is living proof that bullies are always cowards.
Hey, the dickhead wanted to keep messing with Little Joe…he made him look like a REAL dickhead!!
Thanks for uploading this episode
Wow, this was released on my birthdate! February 3rd 1963.
Little Joe in this episode was the biggest kid around with the fire crackers
One life to live
For vain and petty criminals like that, it was a fitting and karmatic punishment for him.
Really great acting in this episode because it made me very cranky 😡
This episode cast Perry Lopez, Alex Montoya and Rafael Lopez. Lopez and Montoya were hired often by Hollywood productions. Perhaps not well known supporting actors, along with Rafael Lopez (not related to Perry), but made Hollywood history as pioneering Hispanic (Latinx) actors. Perry was a good friend of James Dean, by the way. As a boy I used get confused over Brian Donlevy and John Archer, they looked alike. Anyway, interesting episode.
I wonder if Little Joe was thinking, 'where is Hoss when you need him'. A different ending. which was nice.
Aah…🙄…
Little Joe did JUST FINE…
✊🏻‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
He didn't need Hoss. Little Joe is a scrapper and was fueled by pent up rage. Hoss was more of a grappler anyway.
Great speech by Ben!

Yes, but maybe Duke Miller's father was White and his mother was Mexican. 🙂 He didn't look too much like a "Miller" to me either. 😁
Nobody in court thought he might have a twin brother?
Yes. And what is a lawyer doing present evidence in final argument. But maybe back then the rules were different, if not the prosecution should have been objecting.

The duke was set free and lost all his hair , paco lost his father killed by duke , strange written ep .
No This Guy’s So conceited about his hair That’s why they did that and you take it for granted he later got his much sooner than later but it’s important that Packo didn’t try killing him and taught you shoot only when you have to,is important to show him that the law handles the bad guys also hope you realize this 🤠🙏🇺🇸
@@toinimoore3463 of course i understand duke is HUGE concerned aboute his hair , and that he was HUGELY humiliated when they made him bald . But the way the court and the defence lawyer had duke go free was humiliating towards paco , felt like duke had done nothing wrong at all by killing pacos father . Duke was a sick minded , twisted fuck , pardon my frensch .And i also understand and think it was good paco did not kill duke , even tho paco must have been and felt HUGE hatred towards duke for killing pacos father. But i think duke was set free from paying and doing time for pacos father WAY to easy .Btw , dukes hair grows back during time , while pacos father is gone for ever , law and order handles the bad guys my ass , pardon again .
Would have been better if a wagon of nuns headed for some mission through, and Due tried over one's outstretched fott and fell in a deep well or under a horse or onto a sharp object.
You completely missed the point, If Joe Cartwright had of killed the Skunk ,him or Paco with a gun ,it would have been murder and they would have been Hung !

It's a fact that eye witness testimony is some of the most fallible evidence that there is... unfortunately, that's about all they had back then.

Since the old days until our days, the "justice" in US is the same.
I never heard of D.N.A. until 1989. Before then, cases focused on motive, but motive is only circumstancial evidence.
Is this the episode where little Joe stops getting a haircut?
Great episode .
I like the ending and yes, that killer sure was vain! Telly's twin!

The best one yet.

Truly, heart breaks for the moments and sometimes MUCH-MUCH LONGER. But Vengeance belongs to God indeed, and HE KNOWS How to avenge indeed!!! HE is doing one and much more for Me now even after several years of the abuses and deceptions taking place. Hallelujah. Wicked and deceptive people --- take note!!! HELL is Real, and many a time HE begins from here to torment (pay back) the wicked!!!

What I like is at the end where duke is made bald whole town breaks out in laughs poetic justice what I liked not was the judge and jury favored Miller
In the end poetic justice for Duke miller
Isn't that Perry Lopez? I'll be darned, had no idea he went back this far. First time I saw him was in "Chinatown" playing Lt. Lou Escobar.
