It's ironic that Muzan's Upper Moon one aka his strongest demon was a demon slayer and the brother of his enemy whom he feared.
That's why he turned michikatsu into kokushibo ... To take a peice of yoriichi and destroy his life 😩
Yoriichi did defeat Muzan in the end, while Muzan ran like a coward when he fought Yoriichi, his techniques were still passed down even though he & Kokushibo tried to get rid of anyone who knew about Breath Of The Sun and that’s what killed him.

Fun fact, Moon Breathing is the only breathing(performed by sword) that does not have a dash/rush attack. It would be cool if the creator of Demon Slayer manga actually made some forms and just mentioned them in manga. Like flame breathing 6th 7th and 8th forms, or the moves of Moon Breathing that have not been shown.
i hope the creator builds up on characters like uzui,kokushibo and rengoku i would love to see all of the forms in action but hey! we still have the anime maybe

I don't think the 3 Pillar will survive if kukushibo can use dash or blink with moon breathing plus blood demon art.
Mostly thunder breathing has dashed and rushed attacks
To be honest moon breathing with the blood demon art is probably the strongest sword style in the series but due to the fact that yorichii's raw strength is atleast 10x stronger than muzan, sun is seen as the strongest even though it's purpose is to stall out muzan till he burns

Imagine if Yoriichi found himself in a position like Yushiro the demon who served Tamayo. A benevolent demon, and one who keeps up with his sword techniques. Imagine the level of power, wisdom, and experience he could gain from such a boost. This was a guy who basically turned Muzan into a stack of sashimi during their first/only fight, and he walked away completely unscathed in fact he didn't even break a sweat.
Fr if he was a demon, he could just kill EVERYONE. No debate

the reason why the moon breathing ends at the 16th form is because the moon becomes full in the 15th day. Then descends from the 16th day.
Kokushibo’s only goal was to surpass yoriichi and to become the strongest samurai in the world. However, his number of breathing techniques resembles that of not being able to reach the top level due to his little brother’s god-given talents. Kokushibo created the 16th form as a symbol that he is not a swordsmen that is worthy of representing the 15th day of the moon because he is not number 1 like the full moon.
Also,sun breathing represents a full circle in the end.the 16th day of the moon does not. It’s a way for kokushibo to say that the moon breathing is only a substitute for the sun breathing and cannot be a full circle like the sun breathing, hence why it shall not end at the 15th form.

@@rumgo yeah, “Moon Breathing” just sounds legendary haha! But I believe the meaning of the breathing forms meant so much on a personal level, that it might as well been a breathing technique that did not derive from the sun breathing
@@theikhwans5919 im not so sure about the mark and this is just my speculation, But I believe that the sun mark appears on someone who is related or very close to using a sun be breathing technique. In kokushibo’s case, He was not able to use the sun breathing, but his blood line is literally the same with the creator of the sun breathing. Tanjiro is a sun breather so he of course had the mark. But if the swordsmen is somehow connected to the sun breathing, it could be that that pattern appears.
Muichiro used mist breathing, but he was a descendant of the Tsugikuni tribe, so although his mark represented mist, the pattern and placement of the mark was similar to the sun mark.
The color of crescent moons changes from yellow to blue when he increases the length of his sword 😨 broo just imagine how lit the animation in this fight would be😭🔥
Muichiro is actually michikatsu's descendant. If he had accepted the latter's offer to learn moon breathing he could have given tanjiro a very tough time.
He offered to teach moon breathing? I thought he offered demonisation, everyone's breath styles are suited to their unique strengths and weaknesses, wouldn't really help to just learn another style for a hashira level swordsman.

@@idunusegoogleplus What he is saying is since Muichiro is a descendant of Kokushibo, that means he has some form of affinity for Moon. Alongside this Moon is stronger than Mist cause Moon is the closest style too Sun.
@@leonidasimperialis3513 that is not how affinity works, it boils down to body type and any unique physical traits that would make one more suited to one style rather than another. There has been no real evidence that being a distant descendant gives one affinity to a style greater than what one has invented and mastered to hashira level since clearly being distantly related increases your likelihood of not having same body type like that long lost ancestor. Even tanjiro can barely pump out sun breathing moves without huge recoil and his family has been practising it for many generations, with him saying his own sickly father was even more talented than him on being able to use sun breathing longer. Only other possible evidence is flame hashira doing same style as his father but even his own brother had no affinity, with his affinity for flame breathing likely due to his body structure being so identical to his father that the grandma he saved thought he was his father, of course the style would suit him too having almost the same body type. For muichiro he has what is known to be a fragile build compared to kukoshibo who was known to be strong for his age and generation in raw stats if u don't compare with his godlike twin brother. So unless muichiro somehow goes through puberty and becomes like kuko he won't suit moonstyle more, more likely he would have a demonic version of mist breathing like how kaikaku had demonic boosted version of thunder style rather than suddenly using something new. Even for demons training takes time, like akaza taking centuries to polish his hand to hand combat.

form 1: a wide cresent shape attack that represent the curveness of the moon which makes it why it is the first form.
form 2: same as previous form but 3 small long range attacks
form 3: creates a storm of 2 form 1 attacks
form 5: creates multiple form 1 attack that surrounds you
form 6: a combination of form 3 and form 5. a storm made out of multiple form 1 attacks (the storm is horizontal instead of vertical)(the storm can move)
form 7: instead of curve shape attacks, its multiple attacks that is facing away like a curve
form 8: the stronger and bigger version of form 1
form 9: same as form 5 but have vertical attacks and have so many attacks
form 10: send 3 long range linear saw like attacks
form 14: same as form 5 but more attacks and it is a vortex shape
form 16: sends 6 destructive attacks that follows a curve direction
I don't think we can tell for sure whether Moon or Sun is the better breathing style, since none of the users of either were really normal and we don't see all the forms of moon breathing.
Sun breathing is exceptionally hard to perform, so the user needs to be superhuman in one sense or another, like Yoriichi's talent from birth, and Tanjiro's ability to continuously grow at a very fast rate.
Moon breathing is a derivative, so it should be more or less easier to learn, but we have no idea how strong it is without Kokushibo's blood demon art, most of the forms were developed after his demonification and performed with his massive transformed sword, giving him insane range. All the forms that we have seen seem to be stationary, with no swift movement based forms.
This also could be extended to all the other derived styles since we've rarely seen all the forms, and never really saw hashira face off against one another, plus the hashira aren't all on equal footing in terms of things like physique and experience either.

I would rather have Moon breathing to be honest, more potential to be honest not to mention demons get insane amps compared to humans even yorrichi; that and i find Yorrichi is a boring character being simply born the strongest.
Another fact is Kokushibu used almost all forms of Moon Breathing 🌙 against Gyomei. But managed to hurt Gyomei only once because Gyomei changed his defense to protect Sanemi.(Otherwise, Sanemi would lose both of his hands)
Gyomei was hurt several times.. in the first kokushibo was playing with them and gave them a false hope of winning.. when gyomei and sanemi attacked together he found an opening and slashed them.. gyomei says he could have killed them but kokushibo never moved from the spot and only used his sword to find an opening.. he could have one shot them like he did with muichiro
No exactly koku only used three or four attacks agaisnt Gyomei
Moon breathing is so freaking COOL, but DAMN kokushibo lay off the crescent moons for once in your life.
The crescent moons is his BDA(Blood Demon Arts).
Even after Kokushibo became a demon, he and yoriichi faced each other when yoriichi was 80 years old and yoriichi still would’ve won if it weren’t for the fact the he died of old age, that being said, I think that has more to do with yoriichi than the actual breath styled

For people who still don't know.
Breathings are not actual manipulations of nature, for example Flame Breathing don't summon fire, its just Rengoku IMAGINANTING the fire.
Breathings are just different fighting styles with imagination and some duvidous science like in Baki.
Now, about Kokushibo:
A Demon gets its Demon Art based on something from their past or how they would be better at fighting (the drum demon got a house cuz he never left his house as a human for example. Akaza was a martial artist. Some others Arts are just symbolic).
Kokushibo when became a Demon, got a blood demon art of summoning moon-shaped projectiles, as his cell being based on his Moon Breathing.
Thats why Kokushibo can summon ACTUAL gargantum slashes that are physical. His Blood Demon Art is about turning his "imagination" into physical things.
Same thing for Kaigaku, summoning actual lightning with Thunder Breathing.
EDIT: This also makes Moon Breathing very mysterious, as for Kokushibo not passing down to anybody and dying as a Demon, we shall never know what the ACTUAL Moon Breathing would looks like.
Taking analysis of all of the shown forms however we can take guesses of what they looked like originally without the "Demon Version", but most of them, we will never know.
I think someone will put two and two together and understand that there was a moon breathing along with sun breathing and develop their own technique. Heck, I already concocted a Moon breathing style with 36 forms that involve the 9 phases (including the blood moon), water breathing which adds 9 more techniques, and the blood moon technique adds 18 more on top of that. Kokushibo's a scrub that lacked imagination.

@@wander7812 I meant like how Moon Breathing is actually used. The way I see it, it sacrifices raw strength for speed, momentum and conservation. Kokushibo just stands there and allow the enemy to come to him from the first few breathing techniques. Then, he shifts his weight and uses the momentum to put more into his swing and put himself on a similar level to a sun breather. Think Giyu’s 11th water breathing technique but used as a whole style.
Edit: Also, the Moon Breathing style I’ve concocted is now up to 72 forms ever since I added Beast and Insect Breathing to the variants. I’m hoping to get it up to 108 forms with Sound and Stone Breathing.
I don't think I can get behind the idea that Sun Breathing is the most powerful style. Yuurichi was damn near super human even if he used flower breathing he'd be pushing in everyone's shit. It was the breathing style that best suited him that allowed him to bring out his full potential. That could be said about any Demon Slayer.
Naw sun breathing is op bc it can stop a demons regeneration and if you think about it what are the demons greatest weakness? The sun, that’s why sun breathing is so op and of course yoriichi was super human as 80 year old yorrichi nearly beat koku

@@vbvvv1653 I've heard that said in the story. But you're not seeing what I'm saying. I know sun breathing is supposed to be the strongest. But I think it's the warrior that matters.
If Inoskue uses sun breathing for example. Sun breathing, according to lore is objectively better then beast breathing. But it doesn't fit Inoskue's style of combat, but it's the best breath style. Between a fight of sun breathing Inoskue and animal breathing Inoskue, I'd think the style that brings out Inoskue true skill would win. That's all I'm saying.

The issue is not being able to keep pace with the style. If innosuke in your example had been trained and raised to properly use sun breathing, he would absolutely be stronger.
I think catastrophe is by far my most favorite form mainly because it reminds me of dust vortex from wind breathing with blades blasting out meant to shred apart a target

You know what’s weird about these demons is that in the manga it prove that Muzan can turn people by into demons but his underlings have to ask there victims to turn intolerance demon.
It makes me sad knowing moon is only just slashes besides some others.

Well most other techniques are similar in style like sanemis wind breathing and that most breath styles are just modified forms of their first forms

It’s an energy slash followed by more slashes, that’s op, you slash once and the attack creates like 10 more attacks and they constantly rotate forward which makes it broken
2:10 that’s what i really wished would happen in the manga. A confrentation between Tanjiro and Kokushibo, Sun breathing vs Moon breathing. It would be a match in heaven since Tanjiro inherited Yorrichi’s techniques, and even wears his earrings. Imagine how that would impact Kokushibo

I think physically Moon Breathing is stronger than Sun but Sun has better forms and Yoriichi’s strength adds on to it.

I'd say Moon Breathing could be stronger then Sun breathing, since we only saw it infused with the Blood demon art.
Sun breathing is the original style that all the other styles tamper down a specific uniqueness from, but in terms of comparison to sun breathing it's basically the same thing with all that uniqueness from the other styles already since it originated from it and more.
If sun breathing was shown infused with the blood demon art, there's no other way to describe how OTHERWORLDLY that IMMEASURABLE power would be!

Yoriichi almost defeated Kokushibo in just two strikes as an old man but died of old age. Sun breathing is just too op.
Sun Breathing is still superior even to the Demon Art infused Moon Breathing, although only Yoriichi is the one capable of using it to the fullest.
I'd argue that Tanjuro would use it to the fullest if he wasn't ill.

I think that moon breathing originally had 6 forms, and he just made the rest of the 10 forms over the course of many years after becoming a demon with the help of his blood demon art, mainly because of three reasons, first those first six form doesn’t use his blood demon art to change the size of the sword, second is that his moon blades are golden unlike the rest of forms which are blue, and lastly without his blood demon art, he kinda just swing his sword in the crescent moon arc unlike the rest of the forms in which he actively changes the length of the sword

I feel like, unlike the other breathing (along with Breath of Thunder, due to Kaigaku)... Breath of the Moon is the only Breathing Style where the visual effects are real and not just aesthetics to make the forms look awesome.

If you can’t see the effects of a breathing technique how does Wind work with all its long range attacks that are clearly impossible to do with a normal sword?
Air pressure? They are moving at super sonic speeds.
They actually manipulate the air, as made clear by wind breathing. Moon breathing creates the sharp crescent blades from his demon art which allows him to create and manipulate blades. His sword is made from his flesh, which is why he can extend it, among other things.

I think that the breath of the moon does not derive from that of the sun, I think rather it is a unique style that is on one side of the breath of the sun, it does not look like the other breaths derived from that of the sun, I do not think that some normal hunter can develop it as he would with any other breath therefore it must be on one side of that of the sun

Moon breathing IS derived from Sun breathing because Kokushibo couldnt Handle Sun Breathing, and to an extant Yoriichi did help Kokushibo make Moon breathing as it is stated he helped the others make their own styles since they couldnt use the full abilities that Sun breathing required, such as thunder breathing being the speed of Sun breathing but lacking the strenght etc...
The biggest differance with the other style is that where the other styles takes one aspect of Sun breathing and specialise in it, Moon breathing is a watered down version of Sun Breathing, litteraly Sun breathing but lesser (which yes does imply Kokushibo do actually know all but maybe the last form of Sun breathing since thats how hed learn he cant use Sun breathing).
Ironic, because since Sun Breathing is THE Muzan slaying breathing style only accessible to Yoriichi and with extreme difficulty to a few in each generations at best, none of whom can replicate its abilities to its fullest extant.
That means Moon breathing is the best Demon slayer breathing style accessible to nearly everyone but perhaps people like Shinobu

In both the anime and manga, all demons burnt by Nezuko are in pain and regenerate much slower while humans don't get affected by this.
If Nezuko went into full demon form without going insane and had also done the Hinokami Kagura, yes demons will be at her mercy.
We've seen a sword affected by Nezuko's BDA while used with Sun Breathing. Yes not animated yet
Nezuko would still lose to the top 3 uppermoons
If sun breathing was mixed with blood demon art (which i agree is possible)it will might end up looking similar to nezuko's exploding blood fire, would still have the same effects such as literally summoning demonic solar flares from a red drawf star and slowing down or completly nullifing healing factors, it could have been done with DK tanjiro but he was too feral to use his sword so we might never truly know.

Sun breathing is a strong breathing technique but we've only seen it be used perfectly by one person which is yorrichi who is OP.I think that we cant separate sun breathing from its original user since he is the only one to have ever use it perfectly.Tanjiro can use it yes buthe doesn't even scratch the surface of using it perfectly.Moon breathing with demon art i think could hurt Muzan but itll be difficult to kill him I mean kokushibo stuggled against Sun breathing yorrichi in his old age and almost died.Sun breathing definitely could beat moon breathing easily and muzan is definitely stronger than moon breathing but man did yorrichi scar Muzan badly.
I think the sword form he used in the beginning without making his sword long is the moves he learnd as human the other ones are the ones he learnd as a demon with his long sword

It only gets better once you realize that half of Moon Breathing's forms are based off of iaijutsu.

I’m sure that anybody can use the forms prior to the Sword Elongation, on top of this they wouldn’t use the Crescent blade projectiles, so it wouldn’t be as formidable as kokushibo’s, but clearly it would be still the second strongest without all of the other gimmicks that Kokushibos blood demon art stack on it
I guess a human moon breather can only use up to 6th form cuz after 6th form,every form would be impossible for human to perform without using blood demon art

When I first read the manga and I got to this part, I thought moon breathing was his demon art. I thought it was like Sun Breathing, and since he’s an upper MOON, his demon art mixed with his breathing techniques, making moon breathing. It sounded like a cool idea in my head at the time lol
You know I wish in the manga we got to see some blood battles between upper moons demons to see if any could’ve been over took

I don’t think michikatsu’s moon breathing was made as a style derived from sun breathing I think he made it to be stronger than yoriichi’s sun breathing on his own terms but just couldn’t do it and so it was weaker and therefore considered a style derived from sun breathing
Yeah, it’s like a complete opposite. The other derivative forms are elemental in nature while Moon breathing is not. Michikatsu genuinely wanted to be stronger than Yoriichi but even though he was taught from a young age while Yoriichi was mostly neglected, he was weaker than him. It wouldn’t be weird if Michikatsu made Moon breathing to spite Yoriichi but ultimately remain inferior

It is actually possible for a human to use all 11 forms of moon breathing minus the tiny cuts but a special type of folding sword that's roughly 10ft in extended length would need to made for the user and they would also need an extreme level of strength to carry it or alternatively they could carry multiple swords for different forms.
Ik this is pretty random but if Muichiro had more experience and was at his full power, and if he survived the fight against Michikatsu/Kokoshibo, would he be able to use Moon Breathing?
My reason for “yes”:
Muichiro was stated to have the most potential amongst all the Hashira. He was also a descendent of Michikatsu as well as being one of the only people to survive an encounter with him (this is my theory, it didn’t actually happen). Since he survived the encounter, he would be able to recall most of the 11 breathing forms that were used so theoretically, he could use Moon Breathing. What do you guys think?
So how did Tanjiro burn Rui's threads when he was about to be turned into a smoothie? You know when he first used Hinokami Kagura? I either don't buy the idea that breathing techniques don't produce the effects we see, OR there are some glaring inconsistencies. That and Zenitsu has straight up produced light and vibrations in the air.
they do gain literal superhuman strength, it's just that breathing styles are based on an element or quality of something
I do think it's stupid that the author said that the elemental effects we see aren't real because once you take them away and try to visualize the effects of some styles it doesn't make sense
I also think it don't make sense and contradict the whole show they absolutely are real effects we see this multiple times REGARDLESS of who said what even if it was the author he apparently forgot how characters react to these styles if u actually watch the show this is obvious and shouldn't be a debate

It's an important distinction to make that moon breathing is stronger than sun breathing. Tanjiro vs Kokushibo would be a slaughter in Kokushibo's favor. Kokushibo vs Yoriichi though, would be one sided in Yoriichi's favor.
Sun Breathing is only the strongest if it's used by Yoriichi or Tanjuro, IE, someone born with Mark, Transparent World, and Selfless State

In my opinion, moon breathing is stronger than sun, in another way,moon breathing is something meant to end with one attack against weak opponents, and was not made, to cut heads, because the user is a demon,against slayers he will just need one blow to a fatal part of the body,sun is weaker considering the range and what’s best for most occasions,but it’s better against demons,mostly depending on the user, yorrichi was able to cut the heads of any demon including muzan,so mostly, for the actual strength, for example,for sun to be the best, yorrichi needs to be using it,and it’s better for cutting heads.

I feel like the moon breathing styles that kokushibo produced, could be performed by a human. He extends his sword to attack at that range. He could just ask the swordsmiths to make an elongated sword like the one he uses infused with bda. Well, Nodachi katanas are a thing and some people are skilled enough to draw it from the hip. Also, (unless you mean the crescent moon blades in the bda which are impossible ofc) you might be right

Since there was only eleven forms of moon breathing I took it upon myself to come up with the remaining five and all the forms that they do, this took me many hours to think of due to me thinking of consistent forms from the manga. Let me know what you think

How did they even beat him lol. I guess cause he was facing naturally strong prodigies that surpass age like yoriichi . Being master level at young age. Alone he can kill one but all prodigies together makes it super hard. Imagine three young yoriichi vs kokushibou

Honestly, if I were a demon in demon slayer, I could see myself using moon breathing if I got to learn from kokushibo. Just replacing the moon blades with whatever my bda was. Maybe crystal, like making crystal shards or crystal moons for the chaotic blades

Technically all 16 of his techniques can be done by a human. The first 6 forms are done with a katana, it would look the same but without the small crescent blades. The last 10 forms are done with a odachi, it would still look the same but without the small crescent blades and perhaps a few less extra slashes like how Second Form: Pearl Flower Moongazing results in three outward straight slashes while Seventh Form: Mirror of Misfortune, Moonlit results in five outward straight slashes, but the straight slashes are accompanied by these side slashes as a result of the extra blades on his altered sword.
Tl;dr
A human would need two swords, katana and odachi, to perform all forms of Moon Breathing.
Moon Breathing performed normally would be near 1:1 with its attacks, but doesn’t leave behind a trail of small crescent blades in its wake.
