    This car is ALMOST perfect. Even though ACC is only available on the 2nd most expensive trim (EX Premium at 26k) which is debatable, it is not stop and go and it works only above 30km/h. At that point, it's just useless since trafic moves between 0 and 10km/h in rush hour in Montreal... The base manual trim is incredible. Just so you know, I lease the previous gen base trim and I have no AC, no heated seats, no heated leather steering wheel, no remote key, no backup camera, no 8inch screen with android and apple... basically nothing and FOR (almost) THE SAME PRICE AS THE NEW ONE!! Talk about mind boggling value! Great review as always Sweet and Sour! Feel free to come back in our beautiful province as much as you like!

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  6 років тому +2

      Have you had a car with keyless start? My last 4 vehicles have had them and I can’t go back. I’m keyless for house, car etc. No jingling keychains. So liberating. I also have an Acura without it and it drives me nuts. I could take it leave an electric parking brake but it’s nice if you use brake hold in traffic.

    • @PajamaPantsMan
      @PajamaPantsMan 6 років тому +4

      @@EverydayReviews2022 I have not had a car with keyless ignition before. I have driven in few. I would not say it was exactly life changing for me. I am usually not with the majority of people on a lot of things though. I like physical things and less tech. But I can see your point. It's a nice easy convenience to not spend time fiddling with keys.

  • @gene978
    @gene978 6 років тому +8

    Push Button Start to me is such a small convenience unless it comes with keyless access. But it’s no way a deal breaker over other main options. I’d much rather have a great car with turn key then a ok car with Push button start. They say once you have heated seats you can’t go backwards and my car now is the first with out heated seats and I really thought I would miss them but I remote start for just a couple minutes and the cabin is plenty warm. I remember always having to turn the seats off because after a few minutes they would make me so uncomfortable even on low. I’ll even take my Android Auto over push button start. I can start my car using a app or my remote.

    Real question is how good is their CVT? Most of the cars I've been looking at have terrible long-term lifespans because the CVT is too expensive to replace, most mechanics refuse to repair CVTs as well.

  • @jpmccormac
    @jpmccormac 6 років тому +3

    Agree that the design is very good - BUT - placing the rear tail/brake lights so low was a big mistake. I would think they will be prone to clipping in parking lots (expensive repair) and perhaps less visible to following cars.

    Great review. Push button/keyless start is one of those features - that once you have it, you can't give it up. However, having to go to the top trim level to get that @ $28K is a strategic packaging/pricing error on KIA's part.

    • @vladsaghin7644

    I bought a 2018 Kia Forte and the car still blows me away. Styling, convenience, and performance. Yes, I said performance. With the automatic shift modes (eco, normal, sport) and can drive gas sipping 5.8L/100km or have the engine rev high in sport if the music strikes me. Heated seats and steering wheel, apple car play, and perfect suspension, not too soft or too rigid. If this car lasts, I'll be back in 7 years for another.

    I bought a base model 2019 Kia Forte in April.
    There is one flaw that is not appreciated.
    The inside windshield builds-up a film that Windex, Armour-All glass cleaner will not touch. They will just smear the film across the windshield. I had to go to the dealership and have them clean it. They used Finish Line glass cleaner, that did a marvelous job. They gave me a free can of Finish Line glass cleaner.
    I had to get rid of that maddening film this last weekend.
    I am 63 years old and have never experienced a film on my windshield like this.
    This was the 3rd time I had the film cleaned since I bought it new this April.

    I bought a 2019 Forte LSX. I rented/test drive the Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sentra over a 3 month period (was renting cars by the week due to travel) and this blows them out the water at a lower price point. You get all the tech, pleather wrapped interior (vs hard plastic) and alloy rims for less than all other brands with nothing. I said I would never buy a Kia. The one thing that sold me on Kia was a 2 week trip to Iceland. I drove the whole ring road both on pavement and off road in a Kia Sportage and had no problems. The trip turned me on to their lane keep assist which is way better than the other brands I have tried.

    My 2016 Forte had lots of issues. Paint chipped off in the strangest places (the top of the hood and trunk.) The rear window rattled a lot on cold days, the car pulled to one side on most roads, the front tires kept getting sidewall bubbles and the transmission developed a slow leak and my warranty claim was denied on each instance. They said the paint was not a defect, rather it was an 'effect' of my driving style. The rear window rattle was 'normal' for a car in that price point. The car pulling to one side was 'road crown' again..normal. The sidewall bubbles was the fault of the road. The transmission leak was 'sweating' and was told to 'keep an eye on it'. Had to get rid of it after a year because it just kept getting worse and worse. Got a Subaru and not one single issue.

  • @husker_nation

    With the advent of the new ICVT (iVt?), I think they'll be rolling that out to the rest of their offerings to get better gas mileage, which Kia needs to improve on to be more competitive. Forte tends to be, imho, the first platform to get a new system to experiment to see how it works out. Can't wait till this rolls out to the Optima and Soul lineup. I don't think it wouod be offered on the Stinger or K900 however. Current owner of a 2012 Kia Optima Hybrid and love it.

    Unfortunately I've been spoiled by, and come to love, the feature content of our Kia Niro Hybrid Touring.
    I do LOVE the looks of this new Forte and the upcoming 2020 Forte 5 Door, or Hatchback if you wish, is absolutely stunning. However, even in top trim the Forte is missing Fog Lights, although curiously, you can see the circles in the front fascia where they should go. Additionally it's missing Automatic Folding & Tilt Down Exterior Mirrors along with the wonderful Memory Seats for the Driver. The 115 Volt electrical outlet in the rear of the centre console is also missing, as well as no front or rear parking sensors. All of this stuff is standard in the Niro Hybrid Touring, along with every other tech feature available in the Forte.
    In spite of stellar fuel economy numbers this new 2.0 liter engine has DITCHED Direct Injection with all it's potential "valve carbon fouling issues" and expensive cleaning processes. Yeah! And kudos to the Atkinson Cycle for it's efficiency. Remarkably, this Forte achieves Hwy Fuel Economy virtually identical to our Niro Hybrid (5.9 versus 5.8) which is stunning. Granted, the Niro does deliver superior City economy because it's not even running half of the time. And this new 2.0 liter Forte Engine is incredibly smooth. I found it to be inaudible at idle. With such stunning refinement and 147 hp, me wonders why this engine was not used in the Niro Hybrid instead of the more raucous 1.6 liter with it's paltry 104 hp. Combine this 2.0 liter with the torque available from the electric motor and performance would be compelling.
    My greatest HOPE is that the forthcoming Forte 5 will eventually be offered here as a Hybrid, (it's already been shown in Korea) with ALL of the amenities which currently come in the Niro Hybrid Touring that have spoiled my wife and I. Sadly, I believe the Forte 5 will likely arrive with the Corporate 1.6 litre turbo engine as a performance upgrade. I want nothing to do with a Turbo Direct Injected engine and all it's complicated hardware. Although I'm no huge fan of Toyota, I must applaud them for making their Hybrid Versions of the Camry and RAV4 the most potent versions of those vehicles available, thus making them more compelling.
    Time will tell what other treasures and surprises Kia has up it's sleeve!

      depends on what you’re looking for, forte is a compact economy sedan so you’re looking at a small car with outstanding gas mileage, the optima (now k5) is kia’s mid size that’s going to give you more luxury but also take away from your gas mileage, then the accord is another great option but that is from Honda. The styling of this Kia Forte is so much better than the Honda Civic and these reviewers are raving about the Forte's CVT - nobody's raving about the Civic's CVT. Huum - The Civic's Turbo will be a problem with age whereas the Forte is a conventional engine. Just one negative - they rave about a keyless start - if this has a problem and it's out of warrantee - you'll need to float a loan with your banker. Keyless ignition has no benefits to the consumer but plenty of liabilities.

    Lol the reviewers shit on Québécois for buying the base model......it’s a car. Still gets you from point A to point B and less bells and whistles means less shit than can break and less money spent on repairs. The CVT being a prime example. Quebecois are more Euro in their approach to these sorts of things, they seem to prefer smaller, more efficient, simpler cars with manual transmissions. The rest of Canada seems to emulate the US (and I say this as an American). They want their cars big and ridiculous, with a bunch of unnecessary stupid shit.
    What need does a push button start or even heating steering wheel provide? You can turn the key and keep your gloves on until the car heats up. And don’t get me started on the lane departure warning stuff. How about YOU PAY ATTENTION AND FUCKING DRIVE.
    All this extra crap is nothing more than a way for automakers to justify jacking up the price, not to mention adding new shit to break (and thus repair). All the while making drivers less engaged and basically asleep at the wheel. Smh

    No compromises? How about higher risk of transmission failure before 100,000 miles? CVTS are known for lack of durability.

      Honda, Subaru, and Toyota CVT's have no issues. Stay away from Nissan CVT's though. They are trash.

      @@thundergato84 Honda's 😂😂😂 they been trying to perfect their shitty CVT's for years.. darn things are junk maybe new to u in the States or Canada but i have seen the trail of parts and broken hearts they have left behind.. so now they're selling those things in North America.. no thank u... hey just wait a few year and we'll see once they get a few miles on them.. maybe they finally got it right
      i would rather roll the dice 🎲 with a Nissan CVT vs Honda

Drove the JDM Yaris and it's CVT actually pretty good 👍🏾, My Dad's 2007 Nissan Bluebird Sylphy as a CVT, still going strong so as the ROGUE'S , Honda just don't trust 🧐.. not yet anyways too much years of shady issue that got swept under the rug

    You may get some flak from Quebecers about your generalizations about their cheap car buying habits, otherwise great review.

    Kia does make good cars but the dealer network in the States is hideous. Hyundai is probably just as bad. Probably explains why the Stinger sales numbers are so laughable. Unless you have an inside contact with a Kia / Hyundai dealership or know of a good broker you may want to avoid the hassle with those brands.

    these cvt transmission with fake gears are just stupid. the whole point of cvts is to get better fuel economy. now you lose the benefit of better mpg but still have to deal with the likelihood of worse reliability long-term.
