    This is really cool! I recently purchased a similar but normal 1/64 scale model of this car, it was $5, but nothing compared to this. It was Kyle’s 1999 Hot Wheels car.

    That is really awesome!!! From one nascar fan to another that is great. It reminds me of my step sons action performance 1/64 nascar charge has. I can't remember the driver right off hand but that body also lifts off.

    I have one, I paid $10 for it, I've only seen three people who own this Hotwheels and you are one of them, I honestly think the same, the most detailed Hotwheels at 1/64 scale with more than 30 years, excellent piece and I consider it one of my best pieces.👌👍

    • @64Wheels
      @64Wheels  Місяць тому

      Right?! It’s very very good and completely underrated and overlooked by many bc it’s a NASCAR product, but HWs has yet to match its detail even 30 years later.

    This is the only one besides mine I have ever seen. Back in 1997 you had buy from an ad that was a T.V. Guide exclusive. If I remember right the retail cost was $19.99. You should also be REAL CAREFUL with the display case, they Crack real easy. You got a great find for $5.00!

      They made several different versions of the 44 NASCAR - I believe only the ones from this particular line have the loft off bodies. I do know some of the others have an opening hood/trunk area too like you were mentioning.

    • @64Wheels

      Hot Wheels made like 5 different quality levels of NASCAR. They had very base cars with minimal tampos and plastic wheels to the top tier Legacy cars. They also made similar versions to this car, but the bodies weren’t removable. A lot of the 100% Hot Wheels line were of similar quality, some of those even had removable bodies too.

      @@64Wheels thanks for the reply, for many years I thought there was only cereal gift cars, Racing and Pro Racing. I didn't even knew the name of the removable body, I bought them in an antique toy shop in Paris back in 2015, an old man had sold them his entire collection of hotwheels and there was no packaging for 90% of the 9000 models he had in it.

  • @SteveBrandon

    I don't have the packaging for this one but I did find the Legends Kyle Petty car itself in very nice condition in a Value Village (a.k.a. Savers) thrift store toy car grab bag. I was surprised when I found I could take the body off the chassis, unlike every other Hot Wheels NASCAR car I have. It's not my favourite Hot Wheels car, since I like collecting Ferrari, Corvettes, Volkswagens, and other things more, and even for NASCAR, I prefer a couple of the mid-1980s Hot Ones, but it's on par with my minimal 100% collection for the premium-est Hot Wheels I have.
    I also got a "twin" of the Kyle Petty car in 1/43 scale from Hot Wheels, also from a Value Village grab bag, although it doesn't have a removable chassis and I think the livery on the car is from a year or two later since it features the Red Lobster logo on the rear trunk panel.

    • @64Wheels
      @64Wheels  4 роки тому

      Steve Brandon agree - it’s not my favorite Hot Wheels but it is probably them most detailed HWs car I’ve ever come across. I also have the 1/43 scale #43 John Andretti Pontiac and it’s nice but the 1/64th actually has more detail surprisingly, ha!

    HW comes out with the "elite 64" and acts like it's hot shit. The product in this video and the "100% hot wheels" of old proves that hot wheels can do better and for a much lower price. The reason they won't is because they can clap up a basic car and sell it through rlc for $30 a pop and people will still eat that shit up.

    • @64Wheels
      @64Wheels  Рік тому

      Absolutely agree. While the new Elite cars are nice, comparing them to the 100% cars or premium lines of the late 90s early 2000s make you realize how far HWs has fallen. IMO, I think that HWs have peaked in terms of quality and detail as the Asian brands like Mini GT and Tarmac are absolutely slaughtering them in quality and price point, and they don’t seem to really care about that. I think there will always be HWs, but at some point their premium lines will become irrelevant in terms of the modern collector bc of the higher cost and poor detail when compared to the other brands.

    • @dankmemer2774
      @dankmemer2774 Рік тому

      @64Wheels I just received the new elite64 lbwk aventador and I gotta say, it's actually pretty decent. The paint is still kinda sloppy in some places but the detail is pretty good with removable parts and everything. It's no tomica limited vintage, but I'll take it over any rlc release any day of the week.

    • @64Wheels
      @64Wheels  Рік тому

      I got mine the other day as well and am planning to film a video on it soon - even through the package it looks pretty rad. I’m glad to hear it’s nicer than regular RLC stuff!

      @@64Wheels I'm looking forward to seeing your video. There's some black paint on the removable rear bumper that got onto the blue portion. I want to see if you got luckier than I did on your copy and/or if any new flaws arises.

    Aaannnnd THAT is why Nascar 1/64s suck now. They don't even have half of the details if you buy them now.

    • @64Wheels
      @64Wheels  2 роки тому

      I still buy a lot of the Lionel NASCAR Authentics but they are plastic chassis and plastic wheels, which is kind of a bummer. The tampos are good, but I definitely miss this era and the Action cars that were extra detailed as well.
