Wow thats mind blowing.. comic sans become the next level on your hand. I like the concept and the eyebrow, flame thats great! But, I'm having hard time deciding what font will match with a brand. I'm feel so struggle to choose the right typography, to feel the sense of the typography, you know? I hope, u could gimme some tips or any video bout it.. Thank u abi, love from Indonesia 💛💚
Definitely put comic sans to the test haha! Thank you so much for the feedback and kindness! So before you even get into designing, are you researching other competitors and seeing what's the common trend, what design styles are being used and if there's a design style that would fit? Then looking into the target audience also helps because you get an understanding of what they would be attracted to. Then once this research is done you can create mood boards with typography inspiration and have a play around with what works! It can be quite hard to jump into a design without any prior research! hope this helps! x
Abi i have a question about the licences fonts, could i use any font even if not purchased it if I tweaked it or manipulate it and make it path outlined ? Or there are other solution, thank you in advance

This comment is gonna sound awful and passive-aggressive, but I promise that that is not my intention.
It is so inspiring to see someone so confident in their craft, even if many things are the exact opposite of what I was taught during my studies. It is refreshing and it reminds me that we are not saving lives, so we can just have fun. Plus a carefree/laidback/anti-design approach is very on trend rn. Your videos often inspire me to own my craft wherever it takes me. Keep up your unrestrained work!
Actually really appreciate this comment! It's useful to learn design theory and rules etc but they can only take you so far, and in some cases limit creativity! Plus it's all about having fun, because if you're not enjoying the process you won't continue to create! Thank you 😊
@@abiconnick I totally agree with you! While I'm at it, I would love to see a video from you explaining how you choose the color palettes you end up with. You seem to be very good at that too, and I was wondering if you just go by instinct or if you can pinpoint general guidelines or tips. Lastly, I'd love to see you tackle a more "traditional" design for a logo (meaning tech company, or law firm, so avoiding the freehand style). Just a couple of suggestions. Take care Abi!
Last step would’ve been needing to adjust the kerning of the A and N to match the rest, but otherwise, super awesomely quick challenge! I was biting my nails in anticipation at the end with the final countdown! 😂

Found it to really help me! Anything with a time limit just forces my creativity! Especially if I feel stuck!
I'm a little confused at a few things. You pick the rectangle of the font to make it bigger, but that isnt the default in AI. When you stretch the rectangle of the font, it just makes the rectangle bigger, it doesnt change the size of the font. In another similar video you said to use 'command shift O' to put anchor points on the text and that doesn't do anything either. Have you changed settings in your illustrator or has the 2023 version changed so much that these videos are now out of date?

Tried to find this answer in the comments but, so you make the logo and branding with your custom font.. so what happens if the client needs additional brand material made in the future that says a headline in your custom font style instead of like their business name. Would they come to you to design that as well bc here you aren’t making a font to “save and reuse”
Is that right?
So the customisation of a font is just for the logotype and not for any collateral like social media posts etc. For this I always include complementary fonts in my design presentation that the client can use for stuff like this. What pantone color book do you use since you are mostly doing just the digital aspect? I've been binging your videos after not being in school for a while (I have a minor in graphic design) and I'm trying to build my personal brand, but I'm totally stumped on which color book to use since I don't have any plans of printing anything yet and therefore don't know if it would be coated or uncoated.
