Fabio and Grooverider, the Godfathers of Drum & Bass and legends of modern music who are idolised worldwide. Industry heavyweights, fans and artists regardless of genre will readily respect and praise the ongoing influence of the two.
Since aligning professionally 25 years ago, Fabio & Grooverider have been at the forefront of a genre which just seems to get stronger and more ‘global’ year on year, with household names such as Chase & Status, Sigma and DJ Fresh smashing the top 40 to pieces. These are just a few names that received their initial exposure from the pair.
The scene in general owes much to Fabio & Grooverider’s dedication, focus and longevity. They were part of the very few UK DJs to first play House music, and to then fuse and formulate something entirely new which would eventually evolve into Jungle/Drum and Bass. It is no understatement to say that the respective streams and offshoots of D&B that Fabio & Grooverider both represent from those early times now stretch so wide - liquid, jump up, technical, minimal and half-time styles to name a few - that it’s effectively the fabric of D&B itself.

i have to say, i grew up with this. Drum & bass ( don't forget jungle!) here at its very essential. I hear it in new skool beats but new skool don't groove like this. Please keep the original sounds alive ppl. This here - this is d&b done proper

+Luke Charly yeah, some people just don't know about this stuff. people say the old skool stuff was better than new, Na drum n bass is just as good as ever, it's just that the old skool was fresh at the time. Fabio said that in an interview and I just so happen to agree.
Its coz the blackness was taken out of it to appeal to mass audiences like what usually happens. I definitely notice more swagger in the old stuff. Same ole story.

Atomic Jam and Space Hopper - fucking loved the Que Club! Shit for me being in a wheelchair though but fuck it I remember being in one of the small shitty side rooms and someone did a 1 hours d'n'b set, I was hooked! After Jam at the West End Ber too.

Mate ive been raving since 92/93 when it was all oldskool hardcore. The music split which gave birth to jungle and happy hardcore. Raved the nights away in fields and warehouses. Been to many many good raves Elevation, moondance, desire, roast, worldance, onenation, telepathy and too many to mention. if you were part of it then you know how fucking mental it was compared to todays shitty diluted d&b. Fabio & Grooverider are the god fathers of jungle, just because they play the new atmospheric sets DOES NOT mean the music is shit..... i think we all love it here!!

Nice one, had the opportunity to see him live in Germany about 10 years ago and it was a blast ... but what is it with the DJs? I, as your soundguy advise you: red bars on the input gain = not good!

The description is slightly way off. I take nothing from these two giants, & love their ongoing contributions, but here in Manchester, & probably other close by towns, & city's, House Music had arrived, & was being played on legal, & pirate radio, as well as in the club's, from summer 1985 onwards.

Can someone explain to me what it is he's controlling ? Please don't get me wrong, I love this music, the flow and serenity, and respect the skill that has gone into it. But I don't know the first thing about DJ stuff. I guess my main question is, where are the individual tracks coming from, as I never see him change discs. Then again I guess nowadays its probably not on discs and thats what his laptop is for...but they look like CD things, so does he just kinda make a playlist but he's in control of the transitions? I reiterate, I'm not taking the piss, I realise I sound like a guitartroll... I'm genuinely interested. How much of this music has he actually made? Do Dj's actually make the tracks? or they kind of more performing others peoples tracks by making them flow effortlessly etc.

TLDR - can someone tell me about the art of DJ ing please
Con Chobar Con Chobar Tracks are pre-made and the files are on the laptop. CD looking boxes (CDJs) send a signal to the laptop of where the track should play and at which speed. The signal goes out of the laptop as sound via the soundcard (box with wires hanging out) into the mixer which is the one between the CDJs. The iPad is only there to control the music playing further by looping music etc. DJs may also be producers who make music but not necessarily. Hope this helps
