Your enthusiasm is so contagious, even when I have never heard of half these films. One video I would watch the heck out of is your recommendations for the greatest 20 or so pre-1960 horror films (ever since I discovered Val Lewton I've wanted to see more in that vein). Or top swashbucklers, too!
Cool video, I think our tastes are a bit different but I love the passion you talk about these movies with. Aside from the Carpenter films I've only seen a handful of these, I do really like Deathtrap and 12 Angry Men so I'm glad you liked them.
You just moved The Adventures of Don Juan up on my blu ray wishlist. I’ve never seen it but I love Errol Flynn and I need to check it out. How is Captain Blood not on blu ray yet? I hope that’s coming this year. I got the Casablanca 4K for Christmas but haven’t watched it yet. It’ll be my first time seeing a black and white movie on 4K. I was on Disc-connected’s UA-cam channel a year or so ago and when the movie came up, I was shocked by how many people in the chat thought it was overrated. It’s in my top twenty of all time pretty easily. This was a fun watch. Seems like you had fun making it and I love how that always comes across in your content.
Absolutely insane that Captain Blood isn’t on Blu-ray yet. I’m sure Warner Archive will get to it eventually, but honestly it’s more than deserving of a stacked criterion release. And you were on Disc-Connected?? That’s awesome! I’ll have to track that down.
I was on twice! I’ve gotten to know Ryan a little bit over the past couple years. I can’t say I’m a great guest especially compared to the regular guests he has on. The second time I was on we talked about our favorite movie props and it was more fun and I was way less nervous than the first time. I love his channel and he’s a great guy.
Errol Flynn was one of my favorite actors. I have most of his films on DVDs. I just watched Don Juan again about two weeks ago. It’s one of my favorites. Not only was he good with a sword, but he made some great westerns.
Man, you put in some work on this one. Much appreciated! I discovered some movies I need to see. And it warmed my heart to see Roadhouse ranked so highly. I love that movie. Amazing soundtrack and action. I watched it outside with some friends last summer and we had a blast!
Regarding number 2: it's always fun watching a cut of a movie that's new to you. I had only seen a UK TV version of Ridley Scott's Alien, and when I rented it on VHS I found a few scenes were longer than expected. I jumped out of my skin during the android reveal scene!
Excellent video. A perfect way to spend a Sunday morning while drinking my coffee. I own the 4k of Casablanca but haven't watched it yet. Really looking forward to it now.
So glad that you talked about Shakedown. We screened it years ago at a NOIR CITY festival. People loved it. I didn't realize that it had been released on Blu-ray. I will be buying it.
Excellent video! Glad to see Anatomy of a murder that high up best courtroom drama of all time imo Casablanca rightfully so deserves number 1 perfect on all levels
I'm just getting starting watching your channel so I don't know if this is the longest video you've done. Regardless, I love watching you talk about movies so much that, even though I didn't watch it all in one sitting, I did watch the whole video. As long as your up to making longer videos like this one I'll be there. You do introduce me to a lot of movies I've never heard of before and I love that. UPDATE: I just found your over 3 hour video in which you go through all your blu rays. Probably not all in one sitting but I will be watching that one as well.
Just watched this entire video...very enjoyable (even the middle section :). Well done bro. Also, wanted to comment I did a Lori Laughlin double bill this weekend of "The New Kids" and "Secret Admirer," both from your recs, and loved them both! I'm a sucker for the old teen '80's romp! Spader lends so much gravitas to the role of "Florida Man teen cad" haha
Awesome video! If you still haven't seen Beyond the Darkness, it is a must watch. The story is hauntingly sad with disgusting practical effects and a soundtrack by Goblin. 5/5. Severin has a BR release and Tubi is streaming it.
Awesome job on the 135 films. Frankenstein movies always been one my fav classic monster stories and Lady Frankenstein is a great movie for sure. Also Halloween is a huge classic carpenter film, and 4K on it muust be amazing!!!
I wonder if Dark Star will ever get a boutique release. I hate that movie, but I want to own it because I want to own every carpenter film. I could see criterion putting it out.
Wow. I started this with a giant cup of coffee but by the end I was eating popcorn with beer. You know you have to make this an annual event now right? 😆
The Long Long trailer, OMG. Was and is too realistic and may be funny, but also scary. I’ve pulled a long trailer over mountains, along cliffs, and narrow roads. I came so close to pouring gas over the trailer and setting fire to it. I fought with my wife just like Desi and Lucy did.
I thought Evil Laugh was just fun. Never boring for me and I loved the Randy type character in here. Maximum Overdrive is also just a fun time. I didn't expect much from Subspecies but I thought the first two were pretty fun. 3rd one was just okay. My Best Friend is a Vampire is one I've been wanting on Blu-ray for years and years. I loved this as a kid. It's more of a teen comedy than a horror but still fun for me. I love that it was a different take on Vampires. Nightmares has always been a favorite for me. The first two stories are great. I hate the 3rd one. 4th one is okay but really bad effects in that one. I love New Years Evil. Great music. Someone's Watching me is fantastic. Great tv movie. Deadly Friend has always been a favorite of mine. I love it. Wes is so good with characters. For some reason, rewatching Vacation, I was a little bored. I loved the part with the dog because it's so darkly funny but some parts just dragged for me. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood or something. Primal Rage was a first time watch for me. Loved it! Sleepy Hallow is great. I feel like people don't talk about it enough. Gotta say, I like Firestarter a million times more than Christine. I like Carpenter but his characters aren't always the most likable or relatable. Firestarter has much better more well rounded characters. Drew is fantastic here as is all the other actors. I think it's very underrated. Christine just kind of bores me. I don't hate it but I much prefer The Car for killer car movies
So, as I hide in my Universal Studios hotel room from the heat lol - I'm watching some of your vids - I 100% agree that if the movie's message/agenda/statement whatever you want to call it, is above the story, I'm not interested... An interesting thing about Maximum Overdrive, if you ever read/listen to Stephen King's book "on writing" he freely admits that the movie was cocaine and alcohol fuled at the height of his substance abuse issues...but the soundtrack has so many classic rock hits by AC/DC and the toy truck is iconic!! The score .music that hits whenever a machine attack is blatant JAWS ripoff lol- love it for the bad movie it is!
I agree with you about dark star, and Im a carpenter fan, but I really don't get why has become a cult favorite, its very slow and very boring. It does have some interesting ideas, but its not like super creative either, and to me its sense of humor doesn't work at all, or perhaps its badly aged
I think the reason Maximum Overdrive didn’t turn out that great is because Stephen King was abusing Cocaine real bad during the Production of that film.
Thank you so much for your continued support!! And I love those ideas!

haha I did. Other than the technical difficulties with exporting a video this long, it was fun work.
Regarding number 2: it's always fun watching a cut of a movie that's new to you. I had only seen a UK TV version of Ridley Scott's Alien, and when I rented it on VHS I found a few scenes were longer than expected. I jumped out of my skin during the android reveal scene!

Very entertaining. I watched it from beginning to end with no skipping. I like that you speak fast and get to the point.
Hey, thank you! That’s amazing to hear!
Excellent video. A perfect way to spend a Sunday morning while drinking my coffee. I own the 4k of Casablanca but haven't watched it yet. Really looking forward to it now.
To be clear... I've seen Casablanca, just not the 4k.
Honestly I kinda see my channel as a “lazy morning with coffee channel”, so thanks for saying so!
Love the video! Will pick up Mexico Macabre. Also, love the podcast. Would you do an Amicus ranking in 2024?
Thanks! And yeah, I would love to do that! Been thinking about it, actually.
So glad that you talked about Shakedown. We screened it years ago at a NOIR CITY festival. People loved it. I didn't realize that it had been released on Blu-ray. I will be buying it.

thanks for the video cobwebs
Thanks for watching!
The Adventures of Don Juan is one of my favorite Errol Flynn movies. Just a great watch.
Awesome, glad you enjoy it too!
Such a long long Video but nevertheless, entertaining (as usual). I really like watching your Videos. Keep on posting and Greetings from Spain 🎉
Thanks!
A+ video!
Such intriguing films! Thank you so much for taking the time to rank all those videos for the entire year, it's much appreciated!

Wow, thank you for watching the whole thing! And that’s so cool you did that double feature, I’m so glad you enjoyed!
Daniel you are a movie ranking beast!!! Im thinking you are up there with Siskel and Ebert(RIP), keep up the great work.👍👍👍🔥🙏
Great video! Just found your channel recently!
Awesome video! If you still haven't seen Beyond the Darkness, it is a must watch. The story is hauntingly sad with disgusting practical effects and a soundtrack by Goblin. 5/5. Severin has a BR release and Tubi is streaming it.
You're the best, Daniel. Great channel well done. BTW do you have the gut wrenching movie 'Deadline from 1980 with stephen young?
Awesome job on the 135 films. Frankenstein movies always been one my fav classic monster stories and Lady Frankenstein is a great movie for sure. Also Halloween is a huge classic carpenter film, and 4K on it muust be amazing!!!
I wonder if Dark Star will ever get a boutique release. I hate that movie, but I want to own it because I want to own every carpenter film. I could see criterion putting it out.
I imagine it will one day. But the release I have is plenty good enough for me. haha And the documentary on it really is great.
Wow. I started this with a giant cup of coffee but by the end I was eating popcorn with beer. You know you have to make this an annual event now right? 😆
That’s awesome! Honestly by next year, I’m sure I won’t be able to resist doing this again. haha
The painting by Ivan Albright in the Picture of Dorian Gray is what makes the film for me. I agree that Hurd Hatfield is a passive portayal.
Objection: ,Harry Crumb' is great would deserve a better place in the Ranking 😉
Great video, thank you man 👍
And all the best for 2024 from Germany 🖐
haha I still like it though! But thanks man, happy new year to you too.
It's also ok to split up a video like this too. Might have made it easier on you. A lot of these are nostalgic favorites for me.
Well, I basically already have split it up by doing monthly watchlist videos all year.
Casablanca is the best film of all time in my opinion. It's perfection.
I recommend the Little Monsters from 2019 with Lupita Nyung'o. It has zombies!!! 😊

Hey, thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts on these movies!
@@cobwebschannel No problem. I know I was a little long winded but I just felt compelled to share my thoughts
The Night Stalker was so impactful when I saw it as a kid. Great show, influential, basically felt like 70s Xfiles.
That's why they got Darren McGavin in a couple of X Files episodes, as tribute!
I’m sad you didn’t like One Crazy Summer
Yeah, I’m sorry bro. I was surprised too. Maybe it’ll hit better on a rewatch one day.
So, as I hide in my Universal Studios hotel room from the heat lol - I'm watching some of your vids - I 100% agree that if the movie's message/agenda/statement whatever you want to call it, is above the story, I'm not interested...

Have you seen Failsafe with I think Henry Fonda? Good movie!
No, but I’ve heard it’s awesome!
Giant in 4K was the best movie I saw this year.

Better off dead is such a great movie that I never hear anyone talk about.
Where’s my $2! 😂
Yeah red riding hood was like trying to be a twilight
Sunshine is amazing
Wow!! 2 thumbs up on this video!
Thank you!!
Robot Jox!!!❤❤❤
Wait -- Did you say you expected Maximum Overdrive to be great??? 😂
No, I expected it to be insane. 😂
I think the reason Maximum Overdrive didn’t turn out that great is because Stephen King was abusing Cocaine real bad during the Production of that film.
Very true.
