I havent seen most of those movies, I will certainly check them out,the one about the frogs sounds really appealing! May I give you some reccomendation? Spanish movies from the seventies 'Who could kill a child' ,and 'Non se deve profanare il sonno dei morti' Italian, but Spanish director. Then some recent ones, they are thrillers rather than horror movies, but they will keep you guessing from the beginning to the end,Hitchcock style:'El cuerpo'(the body, 2012) and 'Contratiempo' (Setback, 2017) hope you keep on with your entertaining videos and raising your son in the love for movies! Cheers!
I appreciate the effort you put in to not giving spoiler alerts. It’s very nice. You give the premise in a way that you can still go watch the film and be completely surprised. Thank you for that 😊
I was recommended your "80's slashers you may have missed" video last week. I should preface this by mentioning that UA-cam videos are my background noise, I rarely sit and watch a video all the way through. Well, I watched that video and then the part 2 video and then I was binge watching your videos AND taking notes! I watched Ghostwatch, Return of the Wolfman and Blithe Spirit based on your recommendations. You do such a fantastic job of giving a synopsis without spoilers and your enthusiasm for certain movies is infectious. Thank you for expanding my watchlist and introducing me to movies I would never just randomly come across.
I always love these monthly what you've watched videos. Odds Against Tomorrow is so good! Me and my Semi-Cinematic podcast pals reviewed it and I can't say we did it justice but it was fun to talk about. My favorite new release from May was Furiosa, which I thought was so much fun. It has one of the best action scenes I've ever seen. It overstays its welcome a little bit and I thought the ending brought it down as well. But I had a blast seeing it on the big screen. The biggest surprise of the month was Mario Bavo's viking flick, Erik the Conqueror. It's not a Bava movie you ever hear anyone talk about but I thought the visuals were fantastic and it was entertaining throughout. It's got an Arrow blu ray release and it looks really nice. My wife and I took our kids to the theater for the first time last year. We saw the Paw Patrol movie and unfortunately our 6 year old was absolutely miserable. She hated how loud it was. She started to become distraction for the other members of the audience so I took her outside and we kicked a soccer ball back and forth until my wife and youngest daughter came out of the movie. I think we'll try again for Frozen 3 or Moana 2, whichever comes first.
I just discovered your channel a week or two ago. So happy to see you don't waste any time putting out content!!! Thank you. Your my new favorite channel!
Dude, I can’t agree with you on Don’t Look Now. I think it’s a subtle, slow burn, haunting masterpiece. But I prefer my horror more subtle, so I am a little biased in that respect.
The original two are good. I half saw the remake on TV years ago, so maybe I'll give it another watch but if the third one is as bad as he's saying, I'm not touching that with a ten foot barge pole.
Other way around for me, I got both "Dont look now" and "haunting of Julia" on 4K, I liked dont look now alot more but it was first watch of them both for me, maybe I feel different when Im re-watching them again. :)
I went and saw In a violent nature last night at the theatre and I absolutely loved it … sure he walks a lot lol but his surroundings add more to the feeling of isolation and it was awesome that a lot of the film is set in the daytime and I liked the killers back story and visually his image works on all levels….the scene where he takes off the fireman’s mask and plays with the toy car added more depth to the character and of course the kills were brutal ….but my favorite part of the film was the atmosphere and it was great to see Lauren Marie Taylor at the end for the wrap up ending …I will definitely get it on 4K when it’s released…love your posts Keep up the good work
I did watch my favorite Roddy McDowall movie last month, HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY (1941). Have you seen it? It won Best Picture and is definitely not a horror or action picture, but is so visually poetic and beautifully acted particularly by 12-year old Roddy.
My favorite parts of Don’t Look Now are the cinematography/Venice locations, and the soundtrack (I own the Waxwork vinyl version). LOVE Southern Comfort. Glad you enjoyed it too!
I had pretty much the EXACT same feeling after finally watching "Don't Look Now." I even felt the same shame for not thoroughly enjoying this beloved movie as much as other horror fans have said they do. My feelings were pretty much the exact same as the presenter for this video
I have great memories of taking my son to the movies. Superman returns he had his superman mego in his hand wearing his superman get up. Cherish it well hes still young because it goes by very fast 🙂
The Kindred was the most frightening movie experience I've ever had. The body horror... oh my god, I had to grip the armrests to keep from bolting from the theater. And I'm not an easy scare. Only ever closed my eyes once during a horror film ever.
x I watched the film Graduation Day on Shudder, great film! o The scene where one of the track girls is truly running (instead of "slow" running) through the forest is a rush! o That jump scare towards the end is the best! o Graduation Day themed films is a genre that needs to be developed, it's such an important rite of passage that is largely ignored!
I hear you with "Don't Look Now..." I was also let down by its slowness, leading to unsatisfying ending. I'm curious to read the story by Daphne Du Maurier it's based on to see if that's any more gripping. BTW, I think the most ridiculous premise of all these features in "Immaculate," because I just can't fathom Sydney Sweeney has "never been with a man."
I too find 'Don't Look Now' to be rather anticlimactic. I'm not sure why the ending is so lauded. I also agree that 'Southern Comfort' is Walter Hill's best film. Sounds like you had a fun month of firsts!
First: I agree with you that the original Fright Night is awesome! Second: I bought the VSU Southern Comfort and it’s been sitting in my stack lol… you’ve made me want to put it on this weekend. Well done!
Don't look now: Haven't seen it in ages. I would recommend: Who Saw Her Die? 1972. Could be that Roeg was inspired by that film (yes, Du Maurier etc.). The two HK movies you mentioned looking cool. My favourite films in May were: Seven Weeks 2014 (I love Obayashi) The Age of Assassins 1967 (great Kihachi Okamoto, weird and totally underrated) La Chimera 2023 (good Italian film) Then I had a short addiction to Helmut Käuthner films. The best I've seen: In Those Days 1947 Under the Bridges 1946 Black Gravel 1961 Another German film I liked a lot: The Murderers Are Among Us 1946 And of course a lot of cool Shaw Bros. The best were: Come Drink with Me 1966 (rewatch after many years, first time on bluray) Killer Darts 1968 Golden Swallow 1968 The Lady Hermit 1971 The Black Tavern 1972
There was actually a similar Italian giallo movie that came out the year before Don't Look Now called Who Saw Here Die (you can find it on UA-cam). I quite like that one, it is also set in Venice.
I’m so happy you’re giving ‘70s horror a shot Donald Sutherland in ‘body snatchers’ is iconic I’m sure you’ve seen ‘Alice, Sweet Alice’..76) that’s an amazing movie… Brooke Shields does an amazing job in her 1st movie!!
Don't Look Now was disappointing, maybe because of all of the hype surrounding this movie. I recently watched The Haunting of Julia, and it was so good. I went in with low expectations, and I was enthralled. The ending felt a bit abrupt, but maybe if I read the novel, the ending will feel more earned. Nevertheless, I now wish that Mia Farrow had done more horror movies. But she was fantastic in the ones that she did do. Thank you for this wrap-up video.
I love Edge of the Axe! I I know many people have a hard time with the killer reveal, which does feel a little forced, but for me, the physique issue doesn't bother me. I've heard it's even different actors from scene to scene, which I think is kinda cool. It's almost saying "stop trying to figure it out ahead of time and just enjoy the damn ride."
As a collector of physical media, have you ever experienced disc rot? I have and it broke my heart. It was on a DVD release of Battle Royale though so I hope to find a replacement since it is fairly modern and popular compared to something rare.
I really love Asylum. I threw it on one evening a few years ago with no expectations, and it has stuck with me ever since. Not my favourite anthology, but definitely up there on the list.
I was planning on watching Stopmotion tonight BUT I see that Aisling Franciosi is born on 6/6.... So I am going to watch Stopmotion then re-watch The First Omen (that film rocks!) on 6/6!
@@cobwebschannel You said exactly what I thought. Saw it about 20 years ago and I remember the little girl drowning, the sex scene and the ending. Everything in between was slow and forgettable.
Funny: just yesterday I went to the theatre with my 5 year old nephew Fabian and we watched ,Garfield' 😄 we liked it well, funny movie. I remember that the first film I saw at a theatre as a kid was the Disney classic ,the rescuers'. Long, long time ago 🙄
Amazing Stories, an HBO show from the late 80’s produced by Steven Spielberg…one episode is, “Go to the Head of the Class”, not the scariest, but great Fall and Halloween vibes…I watch it every Halloween
Thank you thank you on your incredible videos and recommendations! You have given me hours of entertainment. Now I must recommend to you the film “ The Coffee Table” .if an anxiety attack could be a film this it. Once again you’re the best! And watch the film before you buy your films you’ll save money for the good ones. Love
Now I really regret not picking up the VS release of the Made in Hong Kong set. I wish you reviewed it before it went out of stock 😅Just kidding. Love your videos👍
Praise for " Southern Comfort". Interesting note in Walter Hill's movie hard times there's a scene where he utilizes the cajuns people with Music. I see this as a precursor to the final scene in Southern Comfort🫡

I can't agree with you: ,Don't look now' is great 👍 I also watched 2 Walter Hill movies last month:,Long riders' western with the brothers Caradine and Keach about Jesse James anx his gang, not bad but I've seen better versions of that ,Streets in flames' kind of mix between action and musical I saw for the first time and it was surprisingly good Have you seen these movies? Don't feel bad about not liking "Don't Look Now." Some films get overpraised. I keep forgetting I've seen that one. Some of Nick Roeg's early films are (to me) too deliberately disjointed to enjoy. I HATE "Performance." However, I do like Roeg's films of the Eighties, and I think "The Witches" is enormous fun.
I love Superstition. I personally don't feel it drags because I like the main character. Jason goes to hell is a rough watch despite how much I love Steven Williams. Happy Birthday to me is great. I thought the characters were pretty good actually, not great but decent. The movie is about 20 minutes too long though. Edge of the Axe is super fun. The Nest is one of my favorites. Lots of great strong female characters which I loved. The Kindred is so damn good. Super fun and very underrated. I adore this film and more people need to see it. It's just fantastic
Good movies. well, not that F night2 remake! But good list ! I watch a lot of movies. Last month I watched all 3 in a late-night marathon... - The Last Man on Earth the Omega Man and I am legend.
I don't care for "Don't Look Now" either. I absolutely hated it years ago when I first saw it, on a rewatch a few years ago I understood it better but I still don't care for it. Too self consciously arty for my taste, and that's the terrifying ending? I've no desire to see this one again.

TY for using the proper punctuation 🤣…. It’s hard to figure out what the title of some of the movies recommended in the comment section are!! 🤣🤣 ❤
Got to agree about Don't Look Now. I had the exact same reaction

I have tried to sit through Don't Look Now on numerous occasions.....and still haven't got to the end due to boredom. I always thought it was just me.

Hey, another "Southern Comfort" fan! I think it is one of Hill's best movies. I don't know why this one has been so overlooked for so long.
The Kindred was the most frightening movie experience I've ever had. The body horror... oh my god, I had to grip the armrests to keep from bolting from the theater. And I'm not an easy scare. Only ever closed my eyes once during a horror film ever.

Yes!!! Someone else loves ‘Southern Comfort’. I love this movie sooooo much.
So awesome!
I’m so happy you’re giving ‘70s horror a shot
Donald Sutherland in ‘body snatchers’ is iconic
I’m sure you’ve seen ‘Alice, Sweet Alice’..76) that’s an amazing movie… Brooke Shields does an amazing job in her 1st movie!!
Watch Lost After Dark. It's a retro horror with 80s feel and they do a great job of selling it
You'll thank me.
You’re allowed to not like stuff as much as some people, or not get into stuff people love or put on a pedestal. Not everyone is going to agree.

Have you seen Possession with Sam Neill and Isabelle Adjani?
oh it's fabulous - i hope he talks about it!
I remember when The Nest came out. I loved it as a kid, and I love it as an adult.
I've spent the last month watching my way through Midsomer Murders (which has its own weirdness sometimes), and Starsky and Hutch episodes.
I just watched Frogman yesterday and it was better than I expected.
Lie! You can live on horror alone! An occasional horror comedy.
Alright, you convinced me! 😂
Lol!
Like Tucker and Dale?
As a collector of physical media, have you ever experienced disc rot? I have and it broke my heart. It was on a DVD release of Battle Royale though so I hope to find a replacement since it is fairly modern and popular compared to something rare.
I have, but so far only with DVD. The worst offended has been my Val Lewton DVD boxset.
I saw "The Nest" three years ago and i loved it :)
I haven't heard of most of these 😂
Love these videos.
Thanks Frank!
Jason Goes to Hell is one of my favorite's. Is it terrible? Yes. Is it completely off the wall? Yes. Cool stuff!

I saw Superstition in theaters way back in the 80s. Had no idea it ever made it to Blu ray. Nice!
Yeah, scream factory came through!
Keith Carradine is just wonderful - be sure to see the miniseries Chiefs
Excellent pics. Walter Hill did another great 80s gory action flick, Extreme Prejudice. Check it out! Nick nolte and Powers Boothe are great in it!

x Glad you took your son to see The Garfield Movie, great film!
o I went to it on opening night at our hometown theater!
x For the last day of the month I am going to watch Fright Night as part of a watchlist of favorites.
o The last film will be Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.
o Blade Runner will be first on the list (favorite of Shirley Manson of Garbage, one of my favorite bands).
o Akira will be on it, the favorite film of Morgan Richter (from the YT channel Morgan Richter).
o The Goonies is one of my favorites and will be on the list.
o The Legend of Billie Jean will be on the list from the YT channel Our 80s Life.
o Not sure what the order of the films will be yet (or if I am adding any more) but Bladerunner will be first, Fright Night will be second-to-last, and Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure will be last.
x Since The First Omen was at #7 on your top 10 Movies of 2024, because I am a huge fan of the original The Omen, and since it is now on Hulu (I am at the end of my free period for Hulu) I am going to watch that tonight!
x I am going to watch Stop Motion tomorrow night since it is on Shudder and I have two more days for my trial period!

That’s true for the first few months of life, but by now he has as good a vision as anyone.
The locally made movie ranked higher than Jason Goes to Hell. lol

Im so surprised Keith is your least known Carradine while in fact hes the most famous. Lol
Look up the tv show Kung Fu or Kill Bill 1&2
Isn’t that David Carradine?
I didnt like Dont Look Now, its dull, its not scary and the ending, seems like a cop out.
Remember: Robert Ryan’s CHARACTER is racist.
