My little sister loved this movie. One day when I was a moody teenager crying about something (probably boy or friend problems), she tried to comfort me and ended up belting out this song to me. She was only about 8 years old. Even being a moody teenager, I was touched, and I still am almost 30 years later when I think of that moment. And she's still a great sister!!
That chokes me up. This song and video was my favorite part of watching "Sister act" growing up. I wish I had a sister to sing it too. 🥰 You're both lucky to have each other.
Five of us! I begged my mom for like a month to get me that soundtrack on cassette tape! I still have it and just recently picked up a copy on vinyl! Omg on an old school stereo, this song thumps!
She is the sweetest. It is funny, I keep watching her while going through this video. Wendy Makkena did a great job on this character in the movie, too.
I remember when I was in my teens, I use to play the VHS in my room, and I would just sing and dance along with the whole movie like there was no tomorrow. For me there was not a better movie out there that could bet this movie. Well, now I am an adult and i still sing with it and dance around but ONLY when no one else is around. This is still one of my favorite movies.
That's my Aunt Margo Thunder she's been putting music out since she was a child listen to a song called Soul of a woman on you tube or Expressway to your heart you'll luv it Thx always for ur support!
Whenever I hear this beautiful song, I tear up and cry for both of my older sisters; they've been my champions, my best friends, my family; always there for me. I want them to hear this so much. Unconditional love....still sobbing here
I am just amazed that each time there is something good, there are those, who want to be different and deliberately dislike it. Why on earth. I got the best memories connected with this movie AND this song on VHS. Truly, miss the 90s
Do you ever feel it When people get unkind You can hear it in their voices They get poison on their minds Though ignorance Should never be excused I’ll do my best To pick up their attitudes I’m moving away again But there’s one thing That will make me take a stand If my sister’s in trouble I will always help her out If my sister’s in trouble I will turn the world around I will fight for her right No matter where the trouble seems to lie If my sister’s in trouble so am I If my sister’s in trouble so am I So am I All across the land Young people are walking blind But if the heat comes down I’ll be standing by your side For I am there for you Like you are there for me Nothing feels as good As a sister’s loyalty I’m talking about family What my sister means to me If my sister’s in trouble I will always help her out If my sister’s in trouble I will turn the world around I will fight for her rights No matter where the problem seems to lie If my sister’s in trouble so am I If my sister’s in trouble so am I So am I I’ll be there for you Just reach out your hands And I’m gonna pull you through I’m talking about family And what my sister means to me If my sister’s in trouble I will always help her out If my sister’s in trouble I’m gonna turn the world around I will fight for her rights No matter where the problem seems to lie If my sister’s in trouble so am I Sister I’m talking about my sister Sister My sister, my sister You’re in trouble so am I So am I, so am I I will be there If you’re in trouble Reach out your hands Call on me sister I will be there If you’re in trouble Reach out your hands Call on me sister I will be there If you’re in trouble
Brings back memories of buying the movie on vhs tape and watching it and yet loving this song as well. From the days when movie soundtracks actually made you feel good too
The best song ever made!!! My brothers and I used to dance to this ALL THE TIME when we were no younger than 8!!! When I first bought the CD though, the first thing i noticed was how this song was different sounding than on the movie.
Now, I gotta call my big sister, and tell her just how much she means to me, and how much I love her. She's been there for me, all throughout my life, as a guide; as a confidante; as a best friend.....I truly think the highest of her. (And...I have tears coming down my cheeks as I write this. Hang on, gotta blow my nose now.) I will always be there for her, like she's there for me.....
I do remember as a kid and watching this every time on the vhs before the movie, and being a kid, I always noticed how the nuns somehow looked different in the video than they do in the movie. When I grew up and learned something about nuns, I realized it. They're wearing makeup. LOL Nuns don't wear lipstick, mascara, foundation, etc. Still the actresses look great even dressed as nuns. Kathy Najimy is still my favorite among them. I'll always love her cheery reputation and facial expressions.
I remember being a child, I would only watch Sister Act and Hocus Pocus on VHS. It was constant rotation. I was born in 93’ so shortly after both movies came out but I was hooked.
@Mr429Guy, you know, I had no idea what ever happened to 9.9, but based on what you said, that makes sense, as the vocalist from Lady Soul sounds exactly like the one from 9.9. Some trivia for you folks: This song is a remake of Jeffrey Osborne's "If My Brother's in Trouble", which was an R&B hit around the Summer of 1991 (about a year or so before this movie came out)
I remember watching this movie as a kid on vhs and use to jam to this before the movie started the lyrics if my sister in trouble so am i really hits home because i will always love and protect my sister no matter what ❤💯
Came across this on you tube and I love this song. I also love the movies Sister Act. Wish this song would have gotten more attention as it has a beautiful message!
Love it! Beautiful ladies - Margo Thunder, Leslie Jones, and Wanda Perry. I wish we'd been able to enjoy their music all these decades. You can see their sparkle jump off the screen. Should check if they went on to solo careers.
Holly Kauitzsch Margo Thunder Yes is indeed the one in lead vocals in the middle, the ladies you mentioned in your statement were the ladies from Margo Thunder's 80's hit group 9.9, now in this video You have Rise' Engermann on Margo's right in the black fitted dress and Phaedra Butler in on the left in the green fitted dress and Yes all of them have done other solo projects and rewarding careers and other things in the show business realm, Thanks
, Thank you for this life together, for the gift of our love, and the blessing of our marriage. We give you praise and thanks for the joy you've poured into our hearts through this bond of love we share. Thank you for the contentment of family, and the happiness of our home. :) xx
Loved this, it played at the beginning of the Sister Act VHS, my sister and I used to rewind it atleast 3 times before we would play the movie LOL. Classic....one of my best memories, thanks !
Dear God, I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. ... Gracious God, only source of life and health: Help, comfort, and relieve me, and give your power of healing to those who minister to my needs; that my weakness may be turned to strength and confidence in your loving care; for the sake of Jesus Christ. Amen. :) Daniel
Whatever happened to them? The woman on the left always looked so fun to hang out with! As much info as I can find about them, they weren’t really ever a group, they were background singers brought together to do the song. The woman on the right toured with Michael Jackson for a short time as a backing vocalist
Jesus is returning!!! Whoever reads this may you be blessed and set free!!! Pray RN. Don't fall for satan's tricks, you are perfect it is him who sins through you.
I love my sisters ❤️ This song will always remind me of our bond. Always loved watching this growing up and still today. Why aren’t movies like this anymore.

This song is simply amazing! It's so underrated!!!!!!
Lady Soul deserved more success. This is a great song and they got great talent and voices.
This threw me right into 1992, standing in front of a floor TV and VCR.
Memories by looking at this, the music industry has changed so much, I love the lead singer's voice.

This music got to be MTV CLASSIC
In an age of unparalleled cattiness, this song 🎵 is more relevant than EVER!!
Do you ever feel it
When people get unkind
You can hear it in their voices
They get poison on their minds
Though ignorance
Should never be excused
I’ll do my best
To pick up their attitudes
I’m moving away again
But there’s one thing
That will make me take a stand
If my sister’s in trouble
I will always help her out
If my sister’s in trouble
I will turn the world around
I will fight for her right
No matter where the trouble seems to lie
If my sister’s in trouble so am I
If my sister’s in trouble so am I
So am I
All across the land
Young people are walking blind
But if the heat comes down
I’ll be standing by your side
For I am there for you
Like you are there for me
Nothing feels as good
As a sister’s loyalty
I’m talking about family
What my sister means to me
If my sister’s in trouble
I will always help her out
If my sister’s in trouble
I will turn the world around
I will fight for her rights
No matter where the problem seems to lie
If my sister’s in trouble so am I
If my sister’s in trouble so am I
So am I
I’ll be there for you
Just reach out your hands
And I’m gonna pull you through
I’m talking about family
And what my sister means to me
If my sister’s in trouble
I will always help her out
If my sister’s in trouble
I’m gonna turn the world around
I will fight for her rights
No matter where the problem seems to lie
If my sister’s in trouble so am I
Sister
I’m talking about my sister
Sister
My sister, my sister
You’re in trouble so am I
So am I, so am I
I will be there
If you’re in trouble
Reach out your hands
Call on me sister
I will be there
If you’re in trouble
Reach out your hands
Call on me sister
I will be there
If you’re in trouble
