Shutouts to Ryzerth, the Dev of SDR++ what a great guy
100% 👌
@@TechMindsOfficial and great video as usual!
i talked to Ryzerth, he is great
@@TechMindsOfficial Hey! Can you do an updated video on this? ua-cam.com/video/Je2WUfYY0xI/v-deo.html or is it the same
@@TechMindsOfficial Doesn't working. No audio is coming out, can you please help me with this?
Hi,
SDR++ dev here.
Thanks for the video! Here are just a couple things I noticed:
- You need to first select the source and *then* press refresh. Each source has its own refresh button and it's not global. Just avoids spamming every USB device on the machine.
- With SDR++ server, I'd recommend trying 8bit PCM mode if you're having trouble getting it stable over wifi. In the future FFT+VFO mode will allow for way lower internet bandwidth use anyway.
Hi! Will it plan to add SDRplay to device list?
@@tiberiumist As mentioned in another reply, the SDRplay drivers are not open source, therefor I cannot modify them to work on android.
I can't wait for USRP to be enabled! I can do beta-testing/debugging for ETTUS B200 UHD/USRP.
Saw at Twitter you got a x310 🙂and saw in the xources there is lot of stuff already done.
PLEASE make SDR++ into an AppImage (compiled on Ubuntu 16.04 for compatibility of all Ubuntu's and related forks....or Flatpak.... the .deb file deletes 12 important apps from Ubuntu in order to install itself...and once you do, you cannot re-install those apps as dependencies were removed or upgraded and cant downgrade back without further damage.
how do you handle d*nations..?
I can see you have HackRF as supported device, and certainly I apreciate that, as my SDR of choice for the wide bw and it just feel right to say thx with a cup of coffee.
I use SDR++ for the overview it gives you, on PC as well on a mobile platform. Its clean and easy to use on its ow or with other applications. Now it has scanner (still developing I think) which makes it even better. But when it comes to plugins SDRSharp is till the way to go for me, specially the ISM band and TETRA demodulator. Have a good weekend everyone! (for my RTL-SDR I installed a driver by the same name on android)
Any updates?🎉
Thanks! Works great on Lineage with a Nooelec. Was able to catch some dits and dahs with a discone on 10m. 👍📻
Can't wait to try it!
Awesome video. Will this work with a usb to micro usb connector? I have an older galaxy tablet. Thanks!!
Works great on the chrome cast with Google tv ... Powered hub with passthrough power for keyboard and mouse... perfect 👌
Is there any chance to decode dmr voice or truncated voice?
Can you get DSD with this?
Digital speech decoding.
Motorola
Should i use external USB antenna via OTG cable/adapter if i won't use internet??
Is there a P25 plug in like DSD+ to decode P25 P1 transmissions? for Android cell phone?
they need to put this on Google play
it still sounds complicated to setup as an Sdr beginner! but still better than a bulky laptop especially if your taking it on Holidays 😀
Does Bias-T work to power a preamp such as the SAWbird+ NOAA preamp? Also, does "Record" work? Thanks!
tem algum programa para decodificar dmr para Android?
Tried to give it a spin my fire tablet 8 but the default hidpi setting makes everything so excessively large the control to modify it is inaccessible. I'll try again when is more mature though, it shows a lot of promise.
Looks nice. I had It installed on my Raspberry Pi4 but installation was tricky at best. Does It support any SdrPlay receiver under android?
You need to grab dragonpi os..shit is rad it's a whole raspberry pi SDR Os loaded with a ton of programs.. including sdr++
I cant find the archive app on the play store
11 April 2023 no android on the supported platforms
It's in the nightly builds on Github.
high dpi scaling is blocked by scroll bar on right. my device is samsung galaxy A02
Dose it work on Chromebook!
Nice video thanks a lot
You’re welcome!
Is there a read for which Android versions are supported? Also, which SDRs are supported? I have an old 8" tablet that I don't use anymore, it is stuck on Android 4.4.4 since it is no more supported by the manufacturer. It is 5 years old with a quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU clocked at 1.2 GHz
SDR++ its Android 9 and up so your shit out of luck sorry mate.
Android 9 minimum...there are other sdr apps for android 4.1 and up....
Do it works with the altom Pluto?
Is there any way to actually change the “sample size” in terms of how many frequencies you can visually monitor at one time in the same screen?
That is done using the 'zoom' slider on the upper right side.
How would you connect any type of decent antenna on a smart phone?
you connect the antenna onto the SDR like a HackRF or RTL-SDR
no need driver app for rtl2832u ?
The video begins with the voice of, LA1CI ham operator AAGE in Norway. Good to hear his voice again.
Android 9 +
Do you need to download a driver for an Android tablet or is it as shown plug & play?
I am having issues on Android13 won't recognize hardwae
yea i bought a 2nd gen lenovo m10 fhdplus tablet to do sdr with my rtl sdr and an otg cable and otg doesnt work with this shitty tablet, will work great on my pixel 6a phone though. pretty frusterating
Can you add the tetra plugin on sdr++ for android?
How can i get sdr++ (on my android phone) to recognize my sdrplay RSP1A? Thank you.
I just purchased the rtf sdr dongle and cable to do this setup on my cell phone. On another video the author warned that the dongle got very hot and cut his battery life in half while in use. Have you had this issue? Thanks and great video!
will this work on the sdr touch app
Does anyone know if this will connect to an Airspy Server? I run that server on a RasPi with my RTL. I can connect to my server with software for the Windows laptop, but I have yet to find or perhaps I just don't have the smarts to make any of the SDR programs in the Play Store work with my server. If anyone has a solution drop a comment here...
I am trying to get mine started there's no sound yet
Love that this works for Android! Thanks for the video.
Can we do P25 or OP25 with this?
Hi does anyone know how to use your sound card with your sharp++ . I want only the vlf that the soundcard covers. 10 to 30 khz 💋 and hugs
I've installed it on a Samsung Tab7 tablet. Works but the waterfall screen overlaps settings screen, therefore I can't select source...
You can slide it over by selecting the grey line carefully and then dragging it over.
Nice video 👍
thanks man i got it now
Good video thanks. One question... once you have it up and running do you still need a cell or internet connection to use the SDR? NS9T 73
Nope, no internet connection required. It uses the SDR device as a receiver.
ty@@TechMindsOfficial
HackRF is working for me, but I can't get to the High-DPI scaling setting from my Pixel 6.
I cant download it from android browser after press the text
Super!
Tried sdrpp_debian_bullseye_amd64.deb on Ubuntu Linux - did not work. On terminal: "sdrpp: error while loading shared libraries: libvolk.so.2.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory'".
Tried installing sdrpp_ubuntu_bionic_amd64.deb - "Error: Dependency is not satisfyable: libvolk1.dev".
Android does not work on ulefone armor 7, 10, all buttons of the interface are inactive and have a black color. Who had such a problem and how to solve it?
Dose it work with rtl_tcp? Can imagine how nice it will look on a galaxy fold device
YES! SDR++ Server! 🙂
I found that I drains the battery 🔋 alot can you tell me how this can be prevented thank waiting for your response.
Hi, great video, however, I was hoping for a hint of what cable I would need to connect my RTL-SDR blog v4 dongle to my Galaxy S23 phone. Any ideas?
Just a simple OTG USB cable.
I can't download the apk. When I put the pointer over the file it is not marked. Help

@@TechMindsOfficial Oh yes yes It`s true... Thanks!!!!!
Why is it so very similar to SDR#?
Hello Matt, what android version are you running. I have a new tab with 13, but it will not recognize my sdr hardware ?
Which SDR do you have?
@@TechMindsOfficial sdr play, copies, they work fine in Windows
@@TechMindsOfficial I have read some further posts from the app dev, and explains the problem with SDRplay. Thanks again Matt.
I can’t get the volume slider to work. The speaker icon is crossed out and can’t be opened. I also have SDR Touch installed. Wondering if this interfering with SDR++
same here can't get no sound
just keep trying is what I would do
I donloaded a couple weeks ago, but havent been able to get any recieve on my HackRF. Not sure if it's just the cable or something with the firmware, but I just can't get it to work :(
Looks super nice though, Im sure its something on my side Im messing up.
Are you using a Portapack with it? If so you need to put the Portapack into HackRF mode.
@@TechMindsOfficial plugged it in today and it just decided to work...
In the video, you can see what I assume is an Amazon SDR fob; which is it? Also, which tablet are you using?
I have a Android also can you use a rtl sdr touch app
I have a Nord one plus Android in iam having the same problem still can't hear anything
what do I need to do
thx a lot :O)
You're welcome!
Does SDR++ Speak Yaesu CAT? My 817ND would sure become more useable.
I wonder, does this negate the need to install RTL SDR V3 drivers on the android device?
Does this turn an android device into an RTL SDR plug and play device?
Yes
You don't need drivers
Hey Matt.tnx for upload. SDR++ not working well on any Android devices. current status
Does anybody have an idea on how I can get that audio to come on
yes
I can help I just got mine up in running
first install the app then set where you want it then restart application
Which Andoid version (minimum) SDRPP can works?
Android 9
@@dkollander Tnx
i still can't get no sound does anybody n
1. Does it support Hermes Lite 2?
2. Does it support transmit?
Apparently it supports, but it is buggy.
The android version does not show up in the list of downloads, just the Windows version.
It's there, the filename ends in .apk
Ok. If I'm using the RTL-SDR dongle, then i should use "RTL-SDR" on source??
The only reason why I'm asking is there's names in the source that are programs, and not the hardware...
This is awesome!!
Yes
You forgot to mention that for some SDR radios you will need a powered OTG cable for your device so the radio will work
Or an USB-A to USB-C converter
Or MicroUSB Type-B
Как в программу добавить Sdrplay ?
Well got the DPI setting solved with a Bluetooth mouse. I run android 13, and it will not recognize HackRF or RTL SDR. Some setting likely 😢
Doesn't working. No audio is coming out, can you help me with this?
same here man no audio in I have a Nord one plus
I need help to
does it work with sdrplay?
I just tried it. No luck.👎
To make a device work on android, you need to modify the driver in a few ways. Since SDRplay is the only SDR company who's drivers are closed source, I wasn't able to modify them to work on android. Therefor SDR++ cannot support the RSPs on android until either SDRplay publishes an android version of their API or they make their stuff open source so I can make it work myself.
Nice video but does someone can explain to me how to install drivers for RTL-SDR to use this software on android 13? My phone is A52s 5G.
Hi, did you find solution?
@@meehoo3108 Hi, unfortunately not.
I have android tablet 13 but cant get it to run my windows 7 laptop works ok with it. Id rather have it on my tablet
Did anybody figure out how to turn on the audio yet
Spectrum Is Not Showing, Only The Interface SideBar
Did you disable it?
iam trying to use it on my phone
SDR++ needs Android 9 minimum to run and OTG....Other Apps need Android 4.1 and up and OTG..
I'M NEW TO SDR RADIO. JUST TRYING TO LEARN
Welcome to the hobby!
I used RTLSDR on both Pi and Android. The noise floor with Android is too high and could not hear anything clearly on 20m. No problem on Pi. There is too much interference.
Hi, you seem to know your way around Android devices with RTL SDR. I can get the program to work on my PC with no problem but on my Android everything seems to work except the audio. I get no sound whatsoever. The "audio bars" are pulsing with the received signal but nothing from the speaker. I wonder if you know of a quick fix?
It would appear that android support has been removed. there is no Android builds up any longer. I wish I had kept the build I had.
It’s in the nightly builds, top file, sdrpp.apk
@@TechMindsOfficial Oh ok, it did not say android in the build title. ill try that thanks
@@TechMindsOfficial I get a parse error while opening the apk, and security installation privs are set/allowed.
I still haven't got it set up
Only problem I am having is with the audio ever thing else is ok I think I just got to keep trying
the link doesn't work it says something about produced during run time and when u click on the link it doesn't do anything
you have to be logged into github
@@griffey11 i don't think that's not going to work
@@ericmoeller3634 well you'll never know until you try. 🤷♂️
@@ericmoeller3634 and if you'd watch more of the video it literally tells you you need to log in.
Does anyone Know how to resize the app? On my device it’s like 2X too big and half the app is missing
Same here.. On Samsung S20 FE it is unuseable.
On the video they show how to resize. Use a mouse to ease the setup
If you don't have a mouse you can drag the thin white border between the two windows. It's very touchy so keep trying until you get it. Then change the setting for: High-DPI Scaling. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8" set to 100%. You then have to restart the app.
I want that for my Xiaomi pad 5
When I install that on Android 10 inch screen, it comes up with huge text, and unable to get to DPI adjustment.
I'm having the same problem. Looking for a separate config file that I can manually edit.
Eureka! I found you can resize the adjacent window by dragging the thin white border to the right. It's takes a while to find just the right spot. Keep trying. It might take a minute. I set it to 100% for my 8" screen.
@@ALSmith-zz4yy I ended using a wireless mouse, worked great. My problem is a new tab with Android 13, and it has issues not finding SDR play hardware.🇨🇦
@@stevecarlisle3323
I'm running Android 11 on my 2019 Tab 8 but I don't have a SDR dongle yet. Now that I have some software I will probably get one soon. I guess I could still end up having problems like you're having. We'll see.
I couldn't get this thing to play today
The Android installer doesn't exist (at least I could not find it). Downloaded the MacOS version and it crashes. Will try on Windows.
I was able to just do it, you gotta be signed into github
@@griffey11 I was signed. Just tried again and can't download. It shows a page with "build_android" logs. I even copied the link from the video and it's the sam page.

There is no program for SDR++ for Android
Look at the nightly build, there is an .apk file that you cope and install on your android device.
I have SDR++ on phone and its working, thanks.

YOU NEED TO UPDATETHIS VIDEO, EVERYTHING IS TURNED 180 NOW.
andoid lol im sorry that had me cracking up
I'm not, too late
Interesting,,,,,, but you need to do one for us dummies that have no clue what you are talking about
Wot android tablet you got
who just wanted to make soft-
see you cant do this with iPhones i hate it when iPhone fan boys be flexing oh my iPhone is more secure than Android and nothing else to flex about well this is the reason why android is less secure u don't need Google play store to install apps but u do that at your own risk u got apple saying i tell you what you can and can not do with your hardware
So SDRpp is dead... Freakin just great.
Watch all the vid's, reviews, how-to's, and then nothing anywhere to download.
What a waste
