Nice shave and review. I really appreciate your comparing the Muramasa settings to the Rockwell 6S. That's the kind of information that helps when new safety razors are reviewed. After seeing the price of that razor, I like my 6S even more.

HC&C do send fragrance oils out to the UK and you can mix them into splashes yourself, Pete will send you the instructions on how to do it. It’s the only way I found round the US rules on alcohol posting. Anticatura will send to the UK but have limited stock.

Great shave. I love the Feather blades and they’re among my favorites. The first time I used them, I had a good shave with no blood. But now every time I use a Feather blade, I shed some blood. It’s just the way it is or something like that. Have a good one!

Great shave, Kevy. I got a Muramasa in early October, at a 15% discount, and I haven't used another razor since. It's still too much fun learning the ins and outs, and it's giving me uniformly great shaves, so I just keep using it. Normally I keep mine between settings 3 and 1, going to 4 for cleanups if necessary. Sometimes I move everything up a notch for the last shave on a blade. That probably buys me one more shave from it than a nonadjustable would have yielded. I like that. And I don't mind the small hole despite my poor eyesight. I keep track of the setting mostly by eyeballing how the hole lines up with the head. The one thing that threw me when I got the razor was the tightness of the adjustment, but Luis convinced me it was integral to the design. Once I took that in I adapted. Now it's easy to adjust. I'm glad Tatara's blades suited the razor, but I'm not surprised. They included Feathers with their previous razors, but I was never tempted to use them.

IMO, Feather blades are best suited for use in low-blade-gap, medium-aggressive razors. I’ve gotten consistently excellent shaves with them when I’ve stuck to this mantra.

Bowl lather every time other than using a shaving stick of course. I've never applied cream/soap directly to the brush and went to town from there.

Good review and smooth shave there Kevy💈💈 Soap looks really good as well and leather is always a great scent. Tom Ford is absolutely expensive, smells extremely good though. Superb results, thanks and enjoy.

The Tatara blades still don't seem to be stocked in the UK, so I'd be interested to know how the blade performs & lasts over a number of shaves? Thanks, enjoying your videos immensely.

Thank you for posting this excellent video. I was curious to see how you would lather up the soap. Then I checked the Tatara Razors website and their razor pricing definitely gave me sticker shock. I use a custom shaving scuttle for my own shaves -- made for me by an artisan more than 10 years ago. I also have a second, quite different scuttle from an artisan in Nova Scotia. I greatly prefer warm lather, and I've settled on Geo. F. Trumper creams for a while now. Then came the surprise -- seeing how rapidly you shaved with that Tatara razor. I shave far more slowly. I use Feather blades, and I only have quite old Gillette Tech Ball End razors (with one much newer but still cheap Merkur), and I can't shave quickly with them. I'll get nicks if I do. Perhaps I'm inexperienced. Not only did you shave quickly...you shaved confidently too, like you have experience with that razor, or perhaps you felt really safe with that razor and blade choice. Perhaps I should look more closely at the Tatara. In any case, this is an excellent product review; thank you so much!

Thanks for the kind words. I am used to this razor and the blade felt great in it too. I'm leaning towards more milder shaves these days. This setup, paired with the soap was a really enjoyable shave. Cheers. Kevy 😀

If you want a fantastic fragrance dupe of Tom Ford Ombre Leather/Tuscan Leather, try Rasasi La Yuqawam

I don't know if you had the same thing in department stores in the 80s and 90s that we had here in the states. Over here the fragrance counters would employ what I like to call Perfume Snipers. They were usually young girls in their 20s who would pursue you at least a good 30-50 feet aggressively trying to hose you down in whatever their stench du jour was. I tend to avoid the mall and/or big department stores anymore, so I don't know if the Perfume Snipers are still A Thing, but dear god were they ever annoying.

Great setup and shave Kevy as well as the humor! Hc and c - try alpine forest and Bond. You may already have it. Badass is good and Petes emperor oud scent. Feather has never showed me love…. just irritation.

i am looking for my first adjustable razor. There are two razors that i'd like to purchase: muramasa and osprey. Would you please give me some advice?
BTW, i am now using the blackbird ti, i can handle it well

Are the blades made in the Chinese part of Europe, perhaps?

  • @koosk41

I used to imagine all these folk working in the likes of Edinburgh, never ever buying a fragrance because they were popping into Jenners or John Lewis and helping themselves on the way to work or at lunchtime.

Does made in Europe actually code for made in Russia? I don't know if Russia is considered part of Europe or not. Kind of mysterious of them not to name the actual country. 🤔
