Damn, now I want to buy one. Thanks so much for making & uploading this video! Seeing and learning how these scanners work was festinating and engrossing
very helpful. Just bought a D8 and the learning curve is rather steep. Mind you it has been minus 20 outside .Celcius! Brrr Shall wait till spring I think.
Hi Nick! Will the IP616 be able to perform a throttle body reset/relearn adaptation on a 2006 mini cooper? How about on a 2009 vw jetta? Thank you for your time!
I just applied to a Toyota lube tech in my area because I heard they’re hiring, but I’ve never worked at a place like this but I do oil changes all the time, I change all my tires, my pulleys, alternators batteries I’ve done almost everything to fixing a car, even changed a knock sensor that sits under neath 2 plenums an under fuel rails and intake manifold. What’s your advice for me to get hired on ?
When you go to the interview dont say you have "done almost everything to fixing cars" even if you think you have alot of experience, its going to look bad and lower your chances of getting hired if you walk in their thinking you know everything. Just go in humble and ready to learn/have a drive to work and not have to be told what to do.
Hey I had an inquiry for you! I’ll try emailing you later as well. I did a battery service on my sisters car, it’s an 09 Toyota Corolla with a 1.8L. Afterwards my mom turned it on and she said it cranked slow and ran rough she just moved it farther up the driveway. The next day they tried to start it and it was a slow crank no start. However the way it cranks is exactly the same as when I tried using one of her spare keys that doesn’t have a fob (Im assuming an immobilizer/anti theft) it’s a slow but not weak crank. When I use the correct key the flashing security light goes away which makes me think the car recognizes that the correct key is present. Im stumped at the moment, any pointers or leads? I’d appreciate any!
Did you make sure the battery terminals are making good contact with the battery? If it was fine before you touched it its most likely related to something you did. Re check everything you touched. a slow crank would have nothing to do with the immobilizer.
I bought the ip819. Which was a mistake. The first car I used it on was a Honda Pilot and it wouldn't go into the air bag system and xtool suddenly became "difficult" to deal with. They have a disclaimer that you're supposed to check the serial number of the vehicle and contact them to see what it covers. Nowadays even the cheapest of scan tools read srs codes. Now I am stuck with this tool.
Hello Nick. Great coverage of the units. I would use the lower cost unit as I'm not advanced in bidirectional information at this time, although I would enjoy getting more familiar with it. Thanks again for bringing us the latest products. BTW: Nice Lexus you have there, classy!
My doctor if you go 30 days without updating. It will not work it says must be updated you're 30 days since last update. So I'm wondering what's gonna happen when the free updates stop
Hell yea, I have never tried a snap on scanner due to the price but this scan tool does pretty much everything a dealer specific scan tool can do which is awesome.
Good stuff. I used to have an F150 with a/c mode problems and a host of other electrical issues and my buddy used a scanner tablet thing like this and wow those things show alot of info and live data. My 05' Ranger has had an ABS light on the dash since I got it and maybe its an ABS sensor or diff sensor, one of these days I'll figure it out :P
basically, the 819 they said has less special functions then the D8 but Im pretty sure alot of those special functions are vehicle specific. I would get the less expensive one.
@@LetsDriftMedia so I may be going from a dealership to a smaller non dealer shop and will need a scan tool in the near future should I get the d8 for all the features to program and command things off and on? Or the 819 or 616??? In your opinion? Dealership we have the shop scan tool so I never needed one. Which would you recommend?
I do love my snap on scanner however I also have a launch e909 I belive is the model to try and give me multiple options to try and work around when I am between buying an update from snappy
@letsdriftmedia Snap On also does a BOGO once or twice a year where u get 2 updates for the price of 1...so u update at the purchase and when the next update comes out you got that 1 for free thats usually the route I go when I do update just for more insist into update options for snappy
Hi Nick, I am sort of stuck which one to choose from. For diagnosis with active test purpose, which would make most sense? Xtool D8, Ancel V6+, or this one?
Tough choice they are all pretty equal in what its good for. I would choose the IP819 over the D* since its basically the same scanner but smaller more compact and a little cheaper. But between the xtool and the Ancel V6Plus idk, I like my Ancel scanner more since the bluetooth you dont have to be sitting right in the car to use it, you could be on your toolbox or reading the data while looking under the hood while diagnosing.
Nick you forgot to say yo yo yo in the beginning of the vid 🥺
I agree it is missing the great intro...
Yo yo yo my man another great information from you but we missed the entra ( yo yo yo )
😁

Now I know what I want as my B-day present!

I was using the d7 on a 2014 gmc Yukon with an air fuel mixture code and it would not give me any freeze frame data
Do you have any experiences with the Mirai? Are the reliable?

Where can I get one ?? Amazon, ebay or direct from manufacturer. Muchas gracis , very helpful
They need to fix the 02 voltage readings so you can actually read the wave form

can the xtool 616 do bmw brakes reset
Would you recommend the IP819 over the D7?

Dude that scan tool is amazing I think it’s even better than a snap on equivalent there’s so many different customization features!!!
Hell yea, I have never tried a snap on scanner due to the price but this scan tool does pretty much everything a dealer specific scan tool can do which is awesome.

With your ranger you would be fine with a cheaper scanner as long as it can read ABS codes.
@@LetsDriftMedia :) hey man thanks for the advice, hope I get it working again
I need a bidirectional scanner, retired 70 electrical high lineman 40 years. Diyer, family vehicles only
First 👍🏻
What skills do you and I need to learn at university ?🙏
I wish GM vehicles would allow the seatbelt dinger and other features to be turned off
Nice scan tool, hope that i would have that someday,😊😊😊😊
I'm leaning towards this scan tool. Is it classified as 2023 version or 2022?
This scanner came out in 2022 dont mind my title
D8 and 819 almost same price, and does the same or no?

Just put in cart on amaxon. Price $519 with free shipping
That’s sweet!
Price went up when ordering to $659 , I'll wait
there are versions with only 3 years free update , i want to know how much does the update cost after that free trial is expired ?
I believe 200$ after for each year. But you can still use it as it is without renewing
@@LetsDriftMedia Thank you so much.
snap on is 1200 a year to.update.....2nd
Holy crap I knew it was expensive but not like that.
I usually update every 2 or 3 years to off set the cost
Way overpriced, especially for a retired diyer

@@LetsDriftMedia Big thanks, Nick. I am sort of moving up from mid range scanner to diagnosis level. Your insights made a difference.
@@sunjoomoontube no problem. Either choice you make you can’t go wrong! All great scanners that do the same thing essentially at the end of the day.
@@LetsDriftMedia Thank you. Happy Life and stay healthy.
