The 3rd vehicle I scanned with my IP616 didn't go so well. The scan was going slow and the engine started running rough and was about to die. I tried to halt the scan but couldn't. Eventually the vehicle died without completing the scan. Vehicle wouldn't start without a jump and wouldn't run long. Had to remove both battery cables and touch them together for 10 seconds to reset the computer. Replaced the battery and alternator and apparently low battery will cause this problem with any scanner. Hope this helps someone.

Can it program w209 ezi 2004 C240 .i pit mine on my 2004 c240 that have a bad EZI , key cant turn .it wont read new EZI what do i need to make it program my ignition switch ..??
Hey Lou great video, unless I missed you saying something about the remote connect. So now if your friend has that unit I believe you can bang in and connect via software over the internet if he hooks up to a wireless or a cell phone. That by itself and the key programming makes this a no brainer to buy. I have the A30M on my Samsung Chromebook and if I wanted to give you the control function I would use "Anydesk" a free connecting software for personal use and you would be able to do all the functions in real time with the delay of course. Being a retired MB tech I would jump on this in a heartbeat with the lifetime free updates that is the attraction and because it is ready for primetime. Not relishing messing with keys, yeah go to dealer or someone that does that service.
I have the itool ip616. My 2013 Dodge Challenger didn't come with fog lights. It pre-wired, and I hooked everything up. How do I activate my fog lights. Thanks in advance
I’ll pass on X-tools. My Launch x431 pro and Autel MK808 are enough for me. Taking me some time to learn them, but I threw myself in the pit and invested in these beauties . 😂🤷🏼♀️
@@MasterTechLou so you can figure out things like if the computer can roll the window down but the button doesn't, then the buttons bad. But if neither the button nor the computer can do it, then the motor might be bad or the module.
@@MasterTechLou you click mercedes whatever Model and the tool told you all kinds of things you could see, pontiac solstice 2008 is too old, wanted to make sure that's even an option there and not only high end cars
Hey master lou, you mentioned that you wait 2-3 years then update your devices. So for the price of one update, you are able to get the past 2-3 years that you missed? Does this work for XTool and Autel brands? Im thinking of fixing an Otofix scan tool. I believe they are cheaper Autel rebrands with Autels exact software. I ask because it would be perfect for myself as a DIYer to just not update and only update when the day comes that i need support for a newer vehicle.
So you can either pay $XXX now and get updates for the next 2-3 years, or wait 2-3 years, pay for the updates which then gives you the updates up to then PLUS 2-3 years if that makes sense. Updates to me are only worthwhile for new models coming out. Sure you MAY have a bug fix with a certain issue in a make and model but I dont see paying any amount of money in hopes that you DONT have a specific glitch. That and heres another thought, unless the scanner is in the thousands, a update might be half the price of a new scanner, so, do you update old hardware? Or get new hardware? Theres so many ways to slice it , I have a 2017 launch I never updated, and of all these years it still works flawlessly and I use it for up to 2020 models since sometimes a car is made in like say 2017 but nothing changes for the next 7 years, so the software will work fine even tho you may not be able to select the year, you can still read and control things. Theres a lot to consider and then there is a lot that just dont matter. Ha . Hope this helps, because there is no winning and no right answer. Its case by case basis. Glad I could help with the confusion! 😜😜
@MasterTechLou I think im even more confused LOL . How does updating get you the next 2-3 years? I thought buying a subscription gets you updates for only up to that year. For example, let's say you purchase a subscription for your 2017 launch starting 2024. I thought that meant you'll get all updates up to 2024 and continue to have access to updates untill end of 2024. Then, you have the option to continue your subscription in 2025 with another yearly subscription payment. How does paying for a 2024 subscription get you updates for the next 2-3 years? Im just not getting it. I wish these companies were a little bit more clear on how their update subscriptions work
@@MyOsist not sure the miscommunication. But yes you are right on the launch scenario. So instead of paying each year for subscription, if I waited till now to renew I would have paid 1 fee for 7 years of past updates plus the next year of updates. Instead of paying each year for that year’s updates.
@@shitsugane I requested a IP819 for review, but I do like the Xtool brand thus far,. when I had the 616 and it had the software glitch to do bi direction,. it was very nice. so I think you will enjoy it, if not please let us know. Us as in youtube community. I do not work for xtool :)
Thank you! It would be great if it worked on Benzes from the 90s like my W140. I hate UI of HHTWIN app! 🤣 I have EVAP leak and I even don't know how to diagnose it because HHTWIN seems to provide very limited information. I watched videos where guys were using similar tablets when diagnosing EVAP issues with modern cars and they could run tests, check live data. In my case I feel like I may soon start replacing parts rather than continue troubleshooting EVAP in my W140... But I guess this tablet could work for later models. Please tell if this would work with 2005 SL R230? I mean diagnostic, live data, testing including rodeo test etc etc. I know STAR is the best system but these small tablets may be useful too...
Yeah the 140 eww that has the mushroom plug, the obd2 doesn't play well and limit function. I have A30M and did hook it up to a 129 with ABC I think I saw that function in there. I would never do a rodeo because now car being so old you are looking for trouble. Filter change and suck out tank refill and drive, fresh fluid works wonders, and in 2 months do another suck and refill to get to the better smelling and not black green color. This unit is nice above because it has remote connect, that is fantastic if you have a fiend cross country that you need help from they can see and control your unit. For the price and that feature it is a no brainer and if I did not have my A30M on my Samsung computer Chromebook I would jump for this in a heartbeat, just for the fact it can do keys with added hardware. BTW Mercedes Benz tech since 1988 till retiring after covid. Been there done that and my feelings about MB is that they do not want anybody besides dealer to fix their cars so they made it difficult if not impossible for certain things that must go back to them for all the money they can make. Dealer security I guess and they profit from them staying open. My 2 cents. When you see LEFT handed screws in a door handle makes you figure out their game plan.

No, I meant to comment on that. Theres 98 possible modules that Mercedes has. The scanner does not know how many are in the car so its looking for all 98 that Mercedes offers in general. Bidirectional is fancy meaning you can activate things with the scanner. Basically anything the car activates through a module, you can.
