Several of the first rehearsal clips impressed me, more so than with the semi-final one participants. I think there may be a bit more to the Dutch performance but whether it is truly spectacular or not, I just don't know. Norway looked great in my opinion but I have a few little concerns about Belgium now.

Malta has been an interesting journey for me. Initial reaction: meh Then the song slowly grew on me, until the revamp came. They had changed the exact parts I liked most, so I was like, bye Malta, see you next year! Then two things happened: Malta got picked to open semi final 2, which many would consider a disadvantage; not Sarah Bonnici though, she was absolutely exhillarated about it… that was the cutest thing ever. And after seeing her perform in Amsterdam, I was deeply impressed: she was one of the best that night. My opinion about the revamp has also slightly changed: I still prefer the previous version, but I can now see why made the changes they did, and actually think that from a neutral perspective, it works better. And now after the rehearsals: OMG!!! They must have taken the responsibility of opening the semi very, very seriously! I thought voting in my semi final would be easy (Greece, Greece, Greece!!), but it looks like my votes will be split after all 😅🇬🇷🇲🇹
Europapa is so hyped up for the staging that it cannot live up to the expectancy - and it will not I'm afraid. I think Netherlands might become the "flop" of this year - as in not reaching top 5 while they are in the odds & I think Croatia will win (even though its not my fav) & Ukraine will get 2nd or 3rd while its expected to be lower now.
I fully agree with you. Can you imagine how many pissed people there will be if the big hype turns into a big flop. I hope not, but, unless there is a flying dragon, I'm not convinced it will live up to what has been promised.

Several reasons. 1) imo the Netherlands dared to go for something totally different, they wouldnt do that if there would be zero faith in entry. 2) head of delegation is the executive producer of the Eurovision edition in Rdam (2021), its his reputation on the line as well, so is it likely (also taking into account the result of their entry last year NQ);that he would go for a NQ again? Dont think so. Last but not least they said in advance that they would only show 35% in the rehearsal clip. Im a bit biased as I lived in The Netherlands for several years but their entry for me is the most meaningfull and touchy
