They all sound the same to me except the OPA2604 sounds quite different, particularly with humbucker high gain.

Thanks for watching! Thank you for sharing your impressions! The 2604 is a great op amp, loved by many in these shootouts.

The Raytheon does live up to the hype I thought it was smoothest. I put the TL072 in second 4580 in third.

Thanks for watching! Yes, I usually get skeptical when I hear talk about hyped up op amps/diodes, but I do feel like the RC3403 has a nice breakup tone.

Thanks for doing these comparisons, we can read all the theory we want but actually trying things out is really cool.

@@obnoxiousguitarist Thank you! All my shootouts were born out of my own curiosity to actually hear how they sound, so it's great to hear other folks enjoy these videos!

i couldnt tell a difference for most but the rc3403 did sound different and the Upc458 sounded close.

In the first s, I also think that the 3403 sounded a bit cleaner. It seemed to me that the softer notes didn't crunch like the other opamps.

Thanks for watching! Thank you for sharing your impressions! Yes, to my ears the other ones seemed to get a little more fuzzy and compressed.

You are not gonna get frequency or "tone" response differences from silicon chips alone, only amplitude differences, or "volume" that will interact differently with other components and making those differences, the only components that alter frequency or "tone" by themselves are, resistors, caps, bobines/transformers, or all of those combined with the chips in circuits, due to way they work and interact with each other, to check difference between components in amplitude or frequency, you need to run them through an RTA, spectrum analyser and scope etc, and them compare the graphs, not by listening alone, nor trough youtube sound compression since its not PCM or other form of uncompressed digital audio capture/reproduction

Thanks for watching! Yes, it's not just the op amp, but the entire circuit interacting as a whole. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and analysis in detail!

Too bad you didn't make it a blind test for us. People are too often listening with their eyes rather than their ears - "placebo" is very real. For the record,I presonally couldn't tell a difference between the opampts at high gain.

Thanks for watching! Since not a single person participated in my previous blind test videos, I figured no one was interested. In any case, thanks for sharing your impressions!

@@arito I am a new subscriber and was unaware of previous blind tests. However, irrespective of popularity, I think blind testing is the only ture way 🙂

@@GianmarioScotti Thanks! I normally don't do blind test videos, but I did some recently. Simply from my end making these videos, blind tests are only fun when everyone jumps onboard, participates and shares their votes. 😃
