Back in the day it was impossible to find one of the Captain America figures, and since he was my absolute favorite I HAD TO have him. I even had dreams about finally finding him in a store and then woke up devastated. One day I noticed the eight hundred number on the packaging and had my mom call up to see if it was possible to order figures. The lady told her no. Well, shortly after that I almost exploded in Wal-Mart because I finally found my Captain America. It was a huge rush, and I'm almost surprised I didn't faint before I ran back to my mom to show her that I had to buy a figure that day. This vintage figure might not be the same, but the nostalgia attached to it makes it a must-have for me.
I had the Captain America figure back in the day. I still remember the day my friend broke it. I was devastated, I looked everywhere for a new one and never found it.
So Hasbro gave Iron Man accessories than can only be used if he has a flight stand which he doesn't come with? And Hasbro doesn't sell ANY flight stands at all. Seriously?
@@pearlescent_ftw true, but this specific line (marvel legends) is very obviously targeted at adults. Why does captain America come with his shield throwing accessory purely for display? Why do any of them have large amounts of articulation? Why do hey have such detailed paint applications? I think we can chalk this up to hasbro being dumb again.
I think the one great thing about this line is giving the opportunity to those who missed the figures the first time around- I’m thrilled to get the chance to grab that Iron Man! Otherwise, I’m with you. But it’s nice that they’re out there regardless. Thanks for reviewing them!!
I love the vintage wave they give new collectors a chance to get older figures while also offering different paint and a few new sculpted pieces here and there, plus giving us classic characters in clsssic costumes
When I was a kid my favorite two figures were wolverine and cyclops. It was all fun and games until they ended up as targets for my brothers BB gun the arms and hands shattered.
I wish Cap came with the headsculpt of the Secret War Cap. I keep thinking of the 90s movie version's ending scene. On the bright side, I still have the catchy 60s theme songs they had when I see these guys.
I actually would love more of this line. I think they're pretty neat. I actually didn't have a Black Widow in my collection so the MJ Black Widow was nice addition to my collection today. As far as who I would like to see in another wave of these, I would like to see Doc Ock, 40s Human Torch, Grey Hulk, a classic Kirby inspired Thor and a Green Goblin that's a lighter repaint of the one we got in the Sandman wave but with an interchangeable Norman Osborn head
I agree that apart from the nostalgia factor, long time collectors can easily pass on these but i see no harm in more vintage waves. it will give collectors and newcomers a chance to pick up the same character, albiet slightly different if they missed out the first time getting them
90's Mandarin with a interchangeable helmet sculpt head, a better cape this time, and two pairs of glow in the dark hands sculpts, a bald fist & open hand set. Also other fingers that they never had back in the days, Jubilee, & Luke Cage back when he was going by the name Cage only, with removable black jacket, Night Thrasher with removable helmet & a pair of night sticks, Thunder Strike, & Punisher 2099 with all of his weapons.
I like this wave idea because its a great way for hasbro to reissue old popular figures. I stopped collecting MLs for a while so I missed out on pizza spidey and he costs too much on ebay now.
I saw Punisher, Spidey and Iron Man at Gamestop.... maybe if it wasn't $22.99 I'd get my 2 thousandth Spidey and that Punisher or Cap and as you saw- I got and opened Widow. Still can't find Wolverine. But I'm sorta trying to slim down on Legends since I only have like literally 3 or 4 on display on my Deadpool themed shelf. So besides the random statues lines I have, Mezco/Neca/SHF sorta take up most of my display space. And if I buy Legends characters it's usually more for picture ideas than display.. if that makes sense? But ya, these are pretty cool in package but not really needed. But I can see them doing other characters like Ghost Rider or classic Hawkeye and Vision.
is there a height difference the caps?? I think the hip to belt ratio is different with that ab crunch...I could be wrong. also the belts are on facing the opposite ways on the caps!!
I like the idea, and I will probably pick some of them up, but the main problem I have is the accessories, either the General release has better ones or you wish the general release had them.
My two favorite Avengers. I’ll definitely pick these up (Along with Spider-Man and Wolverine). That’s my favorite Iron Man Armor, and the first I every saw. My first Iron Man comic was Issue #235 from 1988. I read it in 2007, before the movie came out. So when I think of Iron Man, I think of that suit.
Definitely hate that Spidey had to go at the bottom of the ranking, but definitely agree. All of these figures have almost no accessories. Hopefully they all go on clearance around the holidays.
My opinion is that I like the vintage wave. It's a good way for people to get a figure that they missed out on like the wolverine and iron man. However, for twenty bucks, the only thing you get is new paint apps, box, and different accessories. I wish they could add more things like shadowing or new accessories that we never seen since this is like a special thing
My two cents is that this wave is a terrible start, but I would like to see it continue. If this is what they want to do they should offer them for lower than $20. I'd say $15 at most, maybe even 2 for $20 (a nod to the KB Toys 3 for 10 crates) and just keep re-releasing older figures with less accessories.
Michael Mulligan I found on UA-cam people are finding them for 10.00 at Walmart and 15.00-19.99 at Walgreens because Hasbro never sent them info on them so there's no set price that's what the manager of Walgreens told me
That's interesting and I hope I see them soon at Walmart. I'd definitely spend $10 on each of these. Having a spare Spider-Man, Captain America and Wolverine wouldn't be bad. I'd love a Black Widow since I have none and Punisher and Ironman are alright. Not the best, but Ironman wouldn't look terrible on a stand, flying in the background.
I got Wolverine because of the Logan head and the reddish brown paint, but other than that I wouldn't be disappointed if they decided not to make more.
This Iron Man needs a MAJOR upgrade. I feel like this Iron Man armor matches MUCH better with the recent War Machine and Silver Centurian rather than the 80 years Alex Ross Iron Man.
I want the iron man! Luckily for me I found pizza spidey last night at my local toys r us they also had captain America. I really really hope one day they make the iron doom action figure !
Love this cap, just wish the shield was bigger. I think I will skip the rest of the wave. I'll wait for tiger stripe wolverine, and buy the unmasked head-sculpt from a third party or something.
I'm just now watching this video so in response to your question, I think this collection is awesome. I think this is something that will get core figures at an affordable price without speculators making it nearly impossible... I mean there are probably about 50 or so core figures that as a fan you want to represent the Marvel universe, and this collection seems to provide it without the added cost of the build a figure. Doing six figures or so twice a year seems a great way to get newer collectors the basic figures. I don't know if they are going to do a third line, but if they do I imagine that they probably drop in already existing figures with older style paint jobs and fewer accessories to reach the $15 price point that this series has been seeing. (If I had to guess, the next line would probably be Cyclops, Jean Grey, Human Torch, Thor, Green Goblin---they seem to have one spidey figure per wave, but if they insist on it being a hero--then Black Cat? not much of stretch with the Scarlet Spider in the previous wave; and probably Daredevil) The entire point of this line is to introduce the core characters in their most recognizable costumes(with the exception of maybe the Wasp and Scarlet Spider) so that the newer fans could have them in their collections, while chasing after the other stuff that is being put out.
Hey shart you know what I do when my figures are like that I put a little layer of super glue on the peg that it keeps popping off of and let it dry and when I put in back on it has a tighter fit
If we were to get characters in another vintage wave it has to be characters that have drastically different suits when they were created like Iron Fist and Luke Cage
I believe the larger boot iron man figure was the robotic version when Toney controlled the armor from his bed and the other is when he was actually in the suit. I’m not 100 on that though.
I keep looking at my local shops but I cant find and stands for my figures, anybody know where I can find them or order them???? Good job shartimus as usual!!!!!!
Shartimus Prime! Thanks for another awesome figure review. To answer your question, I think a "Vintage" Marvel Legends Line would be a great investment for both collectors and Hasbro. It would be a great way to show off previous heroes in different ways and get creative. Thanks for reading and keep collecting.
Why has Hasbro not totally remade that Iron Man? If it's so iconic, it's a guaranteed seller. The 2012 and this version are pathetically small and lacking posability.
I found the entire wave except for Wolverine, the only ones I was interested in was Cap and Wolverine, I picked up Cap and was tempted to get Iron Man as well, but I feel he is way too short.
Awesome review bro! I honestly wouldn't mind one more wave but more significant changes would be appreciated. So I was seeing where you were coming from about the red paint being nicer on the old IM than the new red plastic but the new one ha accurate colors to the comics too so that I didn't mind. It wicked wicked sucks to see the new feet which look great don't pivot. Like c'mon hasbro, that was in their hands getting tweaked and they don't do it. They have been consistent with the pivot for a while now, even on figures that lack tons of other things the ankle pivot would always be there. They saw the reasoning to upgrade the Ares feet but is that because they already had the baf thor/odin feet? I can't recall if they are the same but probably. See it is clear when they show they care and super clear when they take short cuts. Well now I am wanting a double less so at least I saved some moolah there lol. I still love the fig overall but hey I still dig the first one too for reasons. Ack Legends have me by the balls and much like woman they get me aroused but make me tear my hair out at the same time.
This could be a cool line....but They need more/better paints. Re-sealable packaging/blister cards More accessories/fun old school water blast, light up, magnets, solar powered accessories and/or lower the price. Kind of feel you get gipped.
Great I wanted this review to happen. Wait. Isn’t there a Spider-Man? And a black widow? Oh that’s the last your reviewing. Never mind you did review those figures
I don't want to see any more unless they actually make the package look identical to the Toy Biz stuff (new artwork for characters who never had a figure back in the day of course). I would also love to have seen the Toy Biz logo like how the Black Series vintage collection had the Kenner logo.
I'd love to see more re-releases for people who missed them the first time/scalpers crying into their piles of Wolverines. That Cap head, though, JEEZ. It looks like Edward G Robinson, and like the mask isn't fitting right so his eyebrows poke out. I don't know what they're thinking using it twice.
Personally I really like this wave. I think people have the wrong idea about it. It's basically just a bonus wave, there's plenty of new stuff coming out besides this. If you like the little changes, or you like the vintage packaging you can pick them up, otherwise you can just skip them because they're totally non-essential.
I like this because it gives people an opportunity to get get figures that they may not have been able to get before and are stupid expensive on the secondary market *ahem* pizza spidey
Was able to pick up this Iron Man for about $15 on Amazon, since I did not have this already. The only other one I really want is the Wolverine but I am not paying Amazon's prices ($30) so I will wait for it to show up in Walgreens, where is the only place I am seeing this wave.
Honestly if they did another vintage wave they'd have a chance to improve on their mistakes so id be down And just because these figures i think would be somewhat fitting Hulk thor hawkeye Falcon Doc oc and loki( needs some villains) Or some fantastic 4
I just got my Marvel Legends Vintage Iron Man Today(10/30/18) and the only gripes I have with it are that 1. It's Smaller compared to my other Iron Man Legends, so I have this one in a flying stance And 2. The Right Shoulder Pad keeps popping off at the slightest movement
Thanks for the review. On Cap, I love the deco, hate the face. They should have included a couple of extra hands but you already said that. Iron Man I like it a lot but it is almost the same as the previous one. Punisher, Wolverine, same thing. All these figures are an easy pass for old collectors like myself. I'm tempted to get Spider-Man but it looks too cheap.
I'd be ok with more "vintage" figures if they where more exculsive, had unique sculpts and paint, instead of re-releases. Plus I personally really like the carded look more than the modern packaging.
Back in the day it was impossible to find one of the Captain America figures, and since he was my absolute favorite I HAD TO have him. I'm pretty late but I just wanted to say that that's a beautiful story
(I'm NOT being sarcastic)
I found it too back then.
But my mom don't have money to buy it. I mean he don't have much money
I had the Captain America figure back in the day. I still remember the day my friend broke it. I was devastated, I looked everywhere for a new one and never found it.
Well congratuations
So Hasbro gave Iron Man accessories than can only be used if he has a flight stand which he doesn't come with? And Hasbro doesn't sell ANY flight stands at all. Seriously?
one word: SWOOSH!
Hasbro’s main demographic is children and children usually aren’t into displaying their figures🤷🏻♂️
Actually, a flight stand does come with the Black Widow Deluxe Edition for the new movie, but that wasn't out when you made this post.
@@pearlescent_ftw true, but this specific line (marvel legends) is very obviously targeted at adults. Why does captain America come with his shield throwing accessory purely for display? @@bichonnation9494 ML is really a kids line though. Many adults may collect it, but it’s still targeted for kids and teens.
I think it's a great opportunity to get figures that you could've missed and are very expensive on the secondary market. But yeah it depends on who
Agreed only way I could get that wolverine, also the upcoming wave has Scarlet spider with the blue hoodie, couldn't afford his og release.
Verily. It's how I got Wolverine and it turned out to be an even better figure than the original.
I would like to see more of the vintage collection figures because it allows me to get figures that I missed out on, since I’m a newer collector
I had Spider-Man when I was little, and it got me through some rough times, like doctors appointments and when my cat passed away.

I shaved the scarlet spider hand, too. Made it Look great with a fist and a MCU shield
I am for the retro wave since it perfectly cheaper to build an avengers collection

I was gonna get the iron man but I saw then the 80th anniversary iron man and thought
“Hell yeah that new iron man is mine!!”
These are definitely outdone by the 80th anniversary wave looking back

The Cap is quite nostalgic for me. I still have it on the shelf, it's probably older than most of your viewers, Shart! Lol
I've just got Iron Man. I kinda like his cartoonish look and his helmet's goofy expression.

Id wished they make a vintage baf wave like classic colossus, juggernaut, and other big figs
They should keep the packaging but the toys themselves need to be better quality like their original releases.
I just got my Marvel Legends Vintage Iron Man Today(10/30/18) and the only gripes I have with it are that
1. It's Smaller compared to my other Iron Man Legends, so I have this one in a flying stance
And
2. The Right Shoulder Pad keeps popping off at the slightest movement
They are cool. I would like it maybe as an annual line. But not as a steady toy line

I'm tempted to get Spider-Man but it looks too cheap.
which stand is that from and where can I get some? lol
Thanks for your review
I'd be ok with more "vintage" figures if they where more exculsive, had unique sculpts and paint, instead of re-releases. Plus I personally really like the carded look more than the modern packaging.
Could you do a review on the 1984 marvel secret wars toys?
I'd love a new marvel legends of the modular armor from the 90's cartoon either season, but if I had to chose, season 2.
