Meet America's Flying Aircraft Carrier

- In theory, it probably seems like a perfect solution, a carrier that can fly over land and water and become a floating base in the sky. It is unlikely however that such a weapon platform would, or even could be constructed.

Now, what's the coincidence that my son and I were watching The Avengers last night and now this "suggested" video pops up in my feed? Smartphones are always listening.
Then why didn't it just recommend Avengers, or Marvel related stuff.
I didnt even watch Avengers last night & it recommended it to me!..... spooky!
The way I believe the internet works:
They don’t listen to you. They track your activity online and when you search something like the avengers, similar things will be recommended to you around all the social medias with your email. I don’t believe that microphones actually stay active.

I gotta say, an escort carrier-sized drone armed airship would actually be a good idea. Low cost, low crew requirements, small target, and if it carried enough drones and CIWS, it could provide its own protection. You could basically take a robotic carrier group over land to attack from an unexpected direction.
I have to agree. I can't imagine developing a flying air craft carrier unless it was constantly surrounded by support/defensive aircraft but a "carrier-sized drone armed airship" as you call it makes a lot of sense. Armed with reconnaissance drones, attack drones and suicide drones it would make for a fascinating experiment. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Every war is defined by what is the most effective instrument in prosecuting that war. Given what we've seen on the battlefields in Ukraine it seems that drones and the best (range and accuracy) and most mobile artillery (shoot and scoot) is the key to this war. Future wars however, although I dread them, may require a combination of shoot and scoot heavy artillery, good radar jamming equipment with return artillery capabilities that are better than our current Patriot systems and multi-purpose drone aircraft might be more valuable. While dog fights are sexy the US has dominated that field for a long time so I wonder what will come next.
Just like a dream I had some 20 years ago of thousands of lights comming over the mountain range which turned out to be a drone air attack
one big missle and that’s trillions of dollars gone lol
No more a threat than presently, unless propulsion isn't redundant. Perhaps less because no sea skippers and also broader horizons for defense. Also no torpedoes.
Not that it isn't stupid.
one big laser and no more missile.
Mindburner facts
just one singular cruise missile and that thing has to be gone
@Drew Well I’m sure they’d equip it with a billion dollars worth of anti-missile artillery
Imagine we crack the UFO technology, this would be possible.
POV: You don't know what UFO means so you use it like its depicted in low budget movies.
UFO?????? No UFO has ever had propellers, so it wouldn't be "UFO tech"
We simply don't have the funds or materials to do so, if we did try this it would take twice the materials and funding than the Gerald Ford class carrier. It's not that we can't do it now bc we don't have home made gravity from an alien spaceship, it's bc we simply can't afford it.

Imagine something like the arsenal bird but it carries fighter jets instead of UAVs. Basically it could be remotely be controlled or be set on a direct course towards the point where the planes need to take off. When it's at the point, it's commanded to stop, and floats with rotors inside the wings. Then the jets can fly off. It then is tasked to land and is remotely shut off, the only systems being online being a flare system. When it is needed again to bring the jets back home, it is remotely turned on from wherever they control UAVs, is told to fly up, and the planes can redock. The flare system will go off when there is a missile locked onto it. It's probably not practical but it seemed cool to me.

100 years from now, people will look back and laugh at how we thought this was an impossible feat... hell, what we likely have now - that is being kept hidden from us - we’d probably think was impossible. Much of our military machines still in use today, were originally designed 50 years ago - and that was about 50 years after we were just learning to fly (again, possibly) .... We (mankind) may have been traveling the stars for years now - but why tell anyone your best kept secret when none of your adversaries are even close. Star Trek is destined to become a documentary. Its only a matter of when, not if. Our future ancestors will look back in awe of how we managed to get by, with our limited knowledge and primitive machines. “They were burning fuel, and needed to produce lift through friction with the air?????” “They actually had to run lines to every home for electricity?”
Lol

One of the dumbest posts in the internet.
Actually there would be a few benefits, for one if you were to make the plane fully black it could carry out night missions without being seen by the naked eye
-second of all of would be incredible useful if a plan required help you could dispatch support without a problem
-third of if a plane were to run out of fuel(and yes I know it's rare) it would act as a refueling station
-fourth of the plane were to be attacked 2 planes could be at the bottom immediately ready to dispatch along with that drones could be added to those planes allowing the field of view for the plane to increase
Painting it black wouldnt help,it would be as loud as fuck and even slower
@@obamagaming-zv4vy fair but I mean if you see a fucking island in the sky at night whose gonna believe you. Besides it more like a mobile base it's not meant front of the line stuff.

A hovercraft carrier that could rise up just above the water and quickly move to hotspots then resea itself would be much more valuable.
We just need to find the Lutece particle and then we're all set.
I awalys wondered if flying aircraft could be placed in the aerospace, this would be awsome.
Just like on the Avengers. 😁👍👍👍
There’s several uses verifying your cat carrier sometimes the ship is not going fast enough for the jet to launch off of it if you’re in the sky you can just fall off and eventually gain altitude another reason that is good to have a flying aircraft carrier is that it’s harder for bombers to hit especially if it’s in the sky and heavily armed with guns
One unobvious reason the marvel flying aircraft carrier is unrealistic is that it doesn't need a flight deck and a runway to launch aircraft from it since the whole ship is already in the air
right.? I'm like... why????
yes but for landing It would be ok
Nice video and very informative and very entertaining and very satisfaction.
Sky Captain was awesome! Forgot about that movie.
Hkg
In the late '60s there was an English kid's show
called Captain Scarlet . It had a flying aircraft carrier.
The series was made by the the same people who made Thunderbirds . Of course this is physically impossible .
It would have to be made of super light metal , probably
nuclear powered ( reactors are heavy ) and every time
a plane took off or landed on the flight deck it would
completely unbalance the carrier . It works on water because water is much denser than air and can thus
absorb the forces . It's basic physics , for every action
there is an equal and opposite reaction .
New york times in 1900's
Man needs 1 million years to fly
Wright brothers a few years later
Now its very hard to make a flying aircraft carrier
US airforce a few years later
US Air Force: *fails miserably*
Me: *Now this sounds like a job for me*
True, but there's a difference: Flight was the goal and in itself had obvious gains. There is no gain to making a flying aircraft carrier, if you could make one like in this video, you could also make an aircraft (or many) that doesn't need to return to a carrier because range and compliment are no longer an issue.
Just look at submarines, they have enough supplies in them to stay out for months on end. The challenge of making the above is keeping something that heavy in the sky for long periods of time, if you can solve that problem, you no longer have any need for the thing you were planning to build in the first place.
Everything is possible for USA❤
i mean other than having non-corrupt governments and fighting the urge to invade the middle east every 0.3 secondd.
Not for India but I live in India
only when our people are united this is absolutely true.
@Hammerschlägen M dont let the foolishness of other tarnish your hope for humanity. you tube is new tech as with any new tech the village idiots seems to master them first.. its a odd observation ive come to realize across history.
the real USA,not the one that is being vandalised by third worlders.
Cool to see now! Great show now! Keep up the good work now! Be well now!
It's possible, you need a nuclear powered salt reactor that would provide stream power for the propellers
I got one who believes in this like me
The flying base of SHIELD! Amazing 🤩 🇺🇸
Wow,,!..🤩💞GOD BLESS USA..
It's always crazy until in ten years it comes out
10 lmao the tech isn’t even closely there and the build proces only would take like 10 years
It would have to carry the weight of the fuel for the water propulsion and for the aircraft and then for the turbo jets as well, making for a lot of weight in fuel, not to mention the weight of the turbo props and the mechanical complexity, of the turbo props!
All told, the weight of the fuels alone make this a very unlikely possibility!
We've had nuclear powered turbofan's since the early 60's
No need of fuel..just use nuclear energy just like some of the US submarines
Probably would need multiple nuclear reactors
Too much information....
I bet China will try to build one...
Maybe that was the whole point. Lol
They cant even build a functioning amphibious tank as of the moment.
China's aircraft is 1st edition, US is 5th edition. Their major threat is their missile and nuclear weapons and most important, they don't play by the world rules. You can understand China CCP as a huge North Korea. That's the threat.
Sometimes America releases bs propaganda, to confuse an enemy and have them spend money on stuff that wouldn’t work!...shhhhh..cuz we all know that would be one very expensive air disaster....
China already have two. Star Wars already become reality in China 👍
A flying aircraft carrier could double as a lot of thing. Such as obliviously an aircraft carrier that carry heavier short distance aircraft with low fuel capacity easily, a flying airship with lots of guns, or just a mobile command center.
That would be a big target in the sky.
Flying aircraft carriers:
King Ghidorah 2019: OOH! DINNER!
Have you not played Saints Row 3? This is toward the endgame 😂
THE DAEDELUS
scaled up version of the tr-3b using the technology patents of salvatore pais.
With radar detection improving so often, it would be so vulnerable.
That’s why you have a carrier strike force, and radar jammers
A little bit of everything makes it better just add submarine and five full marine and army divisions to the concept!
I think something like we see in Fallout 4 (Giant Airship that carries 4 VTOL hellicopters) for search and rescue operations like in the mountains or perhaps to be used as mobile field hospitals u could send into flood! zones.
The turbines alone would be a weapon how loud they would be
Turbines from ms gundam ibo?
What if we swapped the turbines for hydrogen fusion reactors?
Such a machine would require big and powerful engines for it to fly 🤔🤔🤔
They would probably need nuclear fusion reactors XD
Or a ton of bikes and I mean a ton
Maybe easy to shoot down, no survivors, and the outrageous cost to build.

Instead of flying carriers, what if we just converted a bunch of large aircraft like the C-5 Galaxy and the 747 into arsenal planes loaded with cruise missiles or drone swarms?
Turn a C5 Galaxy into a giant gunship like a blown-up version of a C-130 Spectre.
I see marvel even inspires the US Military
This video makes me wanna play Ace Combat
Wow ~~~amazing ~👍👍👍
Indiana Jones and the last crusades, scene, Indie and dad on german airship. They steal the plans attached to it to escape.
The smaller versions could be used to deploy covert paratroopers!
We already have them. You might of heard of them they’re called “airplanes”
USA: flying aircraft carrier
JAPAN: diving carrier one
i can see like 4 or 6 or 8 airship kinda things holding a airstrip in the middle and a few hangers or something.
stick a reverse electro magnetic launch system on the bottom of a 747 and have drone land on the belly of the plane and pick em up once they get to a certain area with magnets! best i can come up with
@Andrew W well make it outta something else then.
i assume carbon fiber or something would be used, space shuttle plastics or something. i imagine any hangers would be basically inflatable or just a light weatherproof tent or something.
i imagine if it works at all its gonna need to be huge and/or flexible or something like you say its gonna weigh a ton. or like 50,000 tons, gonna have to weigh as much as a destroyer or something if they build it.
im guessing its more of an alternative idea if drone swarms dont work out. or to make china/russia spend money on research, waste money. can just build more tanker's
hard to imagine it working at all but army or airforce or whoever is trying
@Andrew W yea i cant even really imagine any design working.
just look at osprey accidents, only 2 swinging engines and crashed like 20 of em and like 35 soldiers lives to make it work and think they still have some bugs.
probably loose like 10 trillion and 1500 soldiers/pilots/crewmen to get it to work even a little.
but eventually drones will be so good they'll be better than humans and could probably land in real small places even in turbulence n stuff, eventually.
@@greensoplenty6809 aircraft carriers...carbon fiber may be expensive
You can do anything...😎Top class
Wow. That's cool
Awesome!
Hmm, one way to reduce the target value is to make it harder to hit ex: instead of in the sky flying have a stationary airbase or space station. This improves the warning time of any threat to it only down side would to the cost to fund and maintain the idea
we have more then u can imagine
Such a BAD idea.
Everyone gangster until the aircraft carrier starts flying.

How about just a militarized space station...
Dat Madapuka no, that’s illegal space is peaceful
@@tj9959 Nothing illegal about it. Sorry.
Michel Platteeuw nope, it is illegal to put any weapons into space. Article IV of the Outer Space Treaty prohibits placing in orbit around the earth any objects carrying nuclear weapons or any other kinds of weapons of mass destruction (WMD). It also prohibits the testing and the deployment of any kind of weapon on the moon or other celestial bodies.
@@MrFlatage Not only is it illegal by international treaty, it sets a very dangerous precedent.
@@A____G So you keyboard warrior and didn't read? I quote from the comment you did not read:'a militarized space station...'
Yes you did not know space stations are not on any celestial bodies? Can you name even one single space station that is on any celestial body?
You may delude yourself that all weapons are nuclear? Newsflash ... not all weapons are nukes or WMDs? Just like you delude yourself that? Everybody signed that treaty? How about those 23 countries that signed but? Did not ratify it? Are you going to stop those nations? Who is going to stop those nations?
We all know the US tried to violate your treaty then. Reagan clearly wanted to violate it. He wanted a network of satellites around the planet armed with ... military laserweapons.
Just like we know the US violated UNCLOS in a botched attempt to invade Iran. Or when they shot down a civilian airliner from inside Iran's sovereign waters? Killing 100s? How about ... torture? Did the US not violate the Geneva Convention? Did anyone stop them from torturing?
Nah we all know the US puts kids into cages to torture them. Which is happening as we speak.
You are right. The US is setting very dangerious precedents by violating International Law again and again. From bioweapon testing on their own people like in Operation Sea Spray. To the recent bioweapon attacks on their own people.
But sure believe and delude yourself the UN waving a piece of paper around is going to stop anyone, lmao!
