    I had my LEEP procedure done at my OB/GYN office. It hurt so bad!
    The setting up was very uncomfortable and worse than my colonoscopy. I was told the long needles would numb my cervix. I was told there would be 4 “pinches”-
    I felt many more and I got tears in my eyes. I felt my heart beating so fast!
    Thank you for this video. I am waiting for my results.

      I had my procedure yesterday with anesthesia and I am recovering well! I was accidentally burned with one of the tools during the surgery but I still don’t feel a thing.
      My pain is from the anesthesia- the tube down my throat, aches etc
      I’ve been taking stool softeners so I won’t get bagged up from narcotics. No pain down there at all 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 follow up in a week

      I just had mine on the 20th. Did it at my Dr for a quicker schedule instead of hospital with anesthesia. She just shot numbing stuff up there. Gave me trembles that remind me of the cold liquid iv after giving birth. It didn't hurt and maybe took under an hour.
      I might have an issue today though, one week later. Just felt a drop in my stomache while sitting and bled through my liner and pants. I also smell like dead bird. I think these are the seek attention signs on the paper they gave me.

      Hey just wanted to throw my opinion in and offer at least,a your not alone,I'm sever cin3 and had my leep 6 days ago.i had a really hard time with the first biopsy so we decided to put me to sleep for the leep and it went so smooth, once I was gowned up and iv d they started the meds brought me to the surgery room and it was like an alien abduction for about 30 seconds and the next thing I knew I was sitting there talking to my daughter who was talking me home,I was pretty crampy for 2 days but the discharge is gross and varying in color and texture ,Wich is normal but I have had no bleeding.i got my results but waiting for the Dr to explain it cuz it says the same thing just w an added invasion cannot be assessed .so I'm probably going to be doing a round 2 , but thanks for listening and I hope it gives a bit of comfort.good luck

    Hi there I just had lletz done today under local only, after cinn3 abnormal cells from colposcopy biopsy. I felt a little bit if tugging and jumped a tiny bit (maybe should have asked for another shot as I always do at dentist) but it was bearable.
    The trick is to focus on your breathing/ the nurse held my hand and chatted to me.
    I have a very high pain tolerance as I have painful periods and also chronic hip pain.
    I didn't have a smear for 9 years so I am super lucky I caught this. My smears were usually normal. Went for one last year cinn3 . No hpv virus detected. Family history of abnormal smears.
    Praying they got it all.
    Be strong. Be brave. Get the best Gyno you can. We used our savings to go private.
    I'm not in any pain at all but just resting.
    I think you need more time off. 2 days won't be enough.

    I had that procedure done yesterday. The anesthesia didn’t work so when my doctor was cutting my cervix i felt EVERYTHING!! It’s the worst pain i ever felt!! This was worst that when i had my widosm teeth removed and again anesthesia didn’t work and i felt how the surgeon was cutting. So if you need this procedure and you have the option to be asleep go for it!!

    Thank you for sharing your experience. On August 14th of this year I had my annual Pap smear done and it also came back abnormal. September 9th I had an appointment with an OBGYN and they did the same procedure as you had done and they used vinegar to determine whether they needed to biopsy anything from my cervix. They indeed needed to biopsy a place on my cervix. It came back as severe dysphasia and they have me set up with having a LEEP done on November 1st.
    Watching your video made me feel better and I appreciate you being brave enough to share your experience. I also am going to share my experience soon, because they really don’t tell you much about HPV. Thank you!!

      @zZz don't be scared. I had mine awake, the shots have epinephrine in them so you can a little of the heart racing in some people, it will pass. Once it's numb you are good to go. I think after care is more important, don't rush back to normal life. Let it clot and let the healing process start. I found this video a sharing of an experience but nothing more. For me, the stupid speculum hurt the worst and that wasn't that bad. Be strong. It will be fine.

      @karensquinty258 did you have a bad experience with them? If so, they can absolutely use a different vasoconstrictor. I still let them use it because it is the very best one. The passing uncomfortability which can be scary ❤️, didn't out weigh the benefit for me. But if it does for you, request a different one. ❤️. AND if being awake is not ok for you, then make sure you get to be asleep!

    Thank you for sharing your story. I had my leep done 2 weeks ago. I’ve had a light bleeding at the beginning, just like a dark discharge and now I think I’m having my period, it’s been bleeding for 7 days (light bleeding though) and mild cramping. In a couple days I’m seeing my doctor for a follow up and talk about the leep results. I was terrified on the surgery day but everything went well (had general anesthesia) and I’m so glad I did cause I would be terrified with local. I was planning on having kids now but the surgery kinda ruined for now, we’ll have to wait a little for cervix to heal.

    Thank you so much for sharing your story! I have a question for you or anyone who knows more on this topic. I’m 25 and had an abnormal PAP but they said my HPV was negative which was weird…. So we did a colposcopy and it came back as mild dysplasia. 3 months later we did another PAP and it came back the same as the first PAP and the colposcopy. The doctor said I should just wait and keep doing PAPs every 3 months, or I can do the LEEP procedure. Well I am a very nervous and stressful person so I just want to do the LEEP to get these abnormal cells out. Is this a good idea? The doctors don’t seem to care either way and don’t give me much information on it, so I am just frustrated. I don’t want to wait and have it get worse and have to stress all the time about it. Can anyone offer some advice? Thank you.

      I’m sorry you’re going through such a confusing time! I’m definitely not a doctor so please take anything I say with a grain of salt. If it were me I’d want to discuss all options with my doctor and the ramifications of doing a LEEP vs waiting to see if your body heals itself. For me in the situation and timing of my life I was in, the LEEP was the worst option but the only one I had. I would not opt for a LEEP if it were me, I’d want my body to heal itself if that was an option. Again, I’m not a medical professional and I’m just answering from my own experience and situation. You could always ask your Dr for the medical articles, journals, links, etc. with the data showing you it’s ok to knob wait 3 months vs 12. My doctor told me it can take up to a year to fully heal after having a LEEP done. My dysplasia is completely gone now thankfully. @@StephanieGotcher I definitely will. I had the highest grade as well. I'm also in my 30s. I'm so afraid the biopsy results were wrong the first time. I can't stop thinking about what if it was cancer and not pre cancer. What if the leep procedure shows it's cancer. When the first biospy results showed something else. What if leep doesn't work?. You're passed all the what ifs now. Am I overthinking it?

    • @StephanieGotcher
      @StephanieGotcher  3 роки тому +4

      Like they say, hindsight is always 20/20 right ;-) I definitely overthought my way through that whole time too and definitely thought the worst. The one advice I'd say is to take it one step at a time and not let the 'what if' scenarios take over. I know, much easier said than done! If you're a believer, I learned throughout our journey that the enemy will come at you HARD when you're most vulnerable. Lean into God and seek out the truths that He gives. The enemy speak fear, worry, etc so trust in that and when you feel those thoughts creep in, remember that God speaks hope, love, and truth. I hope that helps! :-)

      @@StephanieGotcher May I ask what happened after LEEP? I eventually want to try for another baby. I lost my son when I was pregnant. If I hadn't gotten pregnant I wouldn't have known I had cancer cells growing. Was your leep successful the first time? I know you said you had to wait a year to get pregnant.

    • @StephanieGotcher
      @StephanieGotcher  3 роки тому

      It was successful the first time. I had to go in for 6 month check ups to make sure everything was ok. They saw some spots the first couple of times after the LEEP but it was just from healing, nothing to worry about. Yes, we had to wait a year before trying to get pregnant for the higher risk of miscarriage and the cervix being weakened from the procedure.

    Hi. Thanks for sharing your personal story. I have a question since my wife will soon have the LEEP procedure. Since there is no HPV test for men (which I find incredibly hard to believe but it is what it is) and you had to assume that both you and your husband had/have HPV, how did you deal with having intercourse after your LEEP knowing that he had/has HPV? Obviously this is a very personal question for me. Appreciate your honesty.

    • @StephanieGotcher
      @StephanieGotcher  2 роки тому +1

      I/we didn’t really think much of it to be honest. I guess if I had continued receiving abnormal paps then we would’ve been concerned but all of mine have come back clear after the LEEP. I’m sorry, I know that’s not super helpful in your situation. I’ll be praying for your wife and a clean scan post-procedure!

I think it's super important to let people know that in some cases stuff happens and in some cases it does hurt but mostly this is not a big deal and help people get it done and ease their anxiety. It is no worse than the dentist. The after care is so so important to heal fast.

      Your very lucky ,I wasn't so lucky I had a leep procedure from hell . I was awake and felt everything and my legs were shaking so bad and could not wait till it was over. I have been wearing a pad , then in 3 days I ended up in the ER ,my blood pressure dropped and had UTI and after that I have been having having painful headaches .And then I get a phone call from my GBYN that it didn't do anything,so I still have cin3 and asked if I want another leep procedure or a Hysterectomy, I felt devastated.
      I'm 67 and just lost my husband 1 year ago of COVID and now this!
      So I decided to do the leep procedure again in June. I'm scared 😢
